Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Squeezeplay on Mac - run on boot?
You can set apps to run automatically when a user logs in, but I'm not sure about how to set them to run on boot without a user logging in. Is your Mac set to log in a default user at startup? If so, that user's login items will run automatically when you reboot. Go to 'System Preferences' -> 'Users & Groups', select a user in the left hand panel, and then select the 'Login Items' tab in the right hand panel. You'll see a list of programs that run whenever that user logs in, and you can add and remove items in that list. chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95324 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

Maybe if you convinced a *marketing* guy that this had some merit then you'd one day see the feature. But as we've all heard, Logitech gave up on marketing the Squeezebox quite a while ago. What percentage of users do you thing want to connect a hardware Squeezebox remotely to their networks? I'd venture that it's very small. And then what percentage of those don't have relatively stable IP addresses? Even if it did work more easily, it's a serious security risk to just open up your network to this traffic without using either a VPN or SSL. Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Squeezeplay - DNS lookup for server
I've had this issue with remote players too for years and years. I gave up and paid the extra to get my own fixed ip. What the developers don't seem able to grasp is that they might actually sell more hardware if people could use it remotely. They also don't seem able to grasp that for people in the developing world (sad to admit it but increasingly the UK feels like that) WAN ip addresses do change daily or even more frequently - certainly my 'non-fixed' line can. Imagine asking a non-nerd to ping the name to extract the ip, then reconfigure the player with the new ip. You end up doing what everyone else does and buy an iPod - or stump up for the fixed ip. As for priorities, is sorting Facebook and Twitter and all these other gimmicks really more important than sorting the basics? -- yeomanspc yeomanspc's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=249 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91948 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

Is there a reason for this? Dynamic DNS was made for a reason, because IP addresses can change at any given time. I really don't understand this entirely, if Squeezeplay is the new soft interface for us to get to our libraries via a computer and or remotely and such, this should be implemented. Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] SqueezePlay on 64bit Win7
I've just got back from holiday to find exactly the same problem - squeezeplay searches for my libary and eventually reports that it can't connect. However, if I open the SBS web control and select a track, the open squeezeplay immediately sychronises and you can hear the track through the pc speakers - you just don't have any control with the squeezeplay interface. It's very odd as the set up used to work just fine and I'm sat scratching my head too. -- lomcovaks lomcovaks's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38453 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=90227 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] SqueezePlay on 64bit Win7
I have SP 7.6.2 running here one a Win7 Ultimate x64 machine, and it's doing fine, and I even have Active Directory running here with logins, so I am NOT running as Admin while using SP. It's connecting to my Server which is in the same LAN, but is a different machine running Win2K8r2 x64 as my server, and I have run the 7.6, and now the 7.7 media server. I am sitting here at this very moment listening to music on my SP here at my Win7 machine, so I know it will work. I wish I could offer some suggestions as to what is wrong, but I doubt it has anything to do with permissions, but the normal programs files directories are in general treated somewhat different. If you think it's an installed directory permissions issue, I'd suggest making say a "Programs" directory which I do for a few things, and then install in that directory and then you will have full permissions to write to as a normal user. Also make sure you don't have anything blocked in the firewall if your connecting remotly, as that would kill you as well with making it work.. -- WB3FFV WB3FFV's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17316 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=90227 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] SqueezePlay 7.6 Audio Dies Overnight
This problem boiled down to a missing /etc/asound.conf file on the system. Adding this file with the simplest of contents: pcm.!default { type hw card 0 } ctl.!default { type hw card 0 } Brought non-dying audio to SqueezePlay. OK, it also removed the mixer abilities, but as this system would only play audio from SqueezePlay that's not really an issue for me. -- roobarb! roobarb!'s Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40187 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81907 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] SqueezePlay Full Screen with X11 Screensaver
Found a solution, although it's really a cheat. Instead of entering fullscreen, I'm now toggling the visibility of the panel with 'xdotool windowunmap' and using SDL_NOFRAME to make sure there's no window furniture. As the top panel is the only thing taking up space, once it's unmapped and the titlebar / resizable bits are gone the 800x480 skin can be drawn over the whole screen without entering fullscreen mode. For whatever reason, this means that the screensaver still activates - it even has a rather nice fade to black. One thing puzzles me. Why does the code for jive_surface.c contain SDL_RESIZABLE flags, seeing as the skin isn't resizable? It's taken me so long to get this far that I'm not going to recompile for the answer right now, but just wanted to mention it. There's probably a very good reason I'm not seeing. -- roobarb! roobarb!'s Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40187 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=81610 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

That is right - for licensing reasons there is no WMA decoder built into the desktop Squeezeplay. If your SBS is on Windows - SBS should handle transcoding.
