We use a regular expression to determine the type of text (BibTeX, RIS, Refer, JSTOR, ISI, MARC, XML...) when pasting or dragging. If it has syntax errors in the cite key or type, we don't recognize it as BibTeX. If you save it in a .bib file using a text editor, you can open it with BibDesk (which will then tell you there's a syntax error and the file can't be read). So the problem isn't with saving, it's the impossibility of interpreting it as BibTeX. -- Adam - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc. Still grepping through log files to find problems? [Bibdesk-users] Not able to drag and release?
For APS journals (e.g. Physical Review family), I usually have the LaTeX bib data for a paper displayed by the web browser (Safari), then highlight the whole block and drag and release to an empty "Publication" entry in BibDesk. Sometimes, however, there were some data simply refused to be dragged. I guess the problem resulted from the encoding, but couldn't figure out a way to go around it, except that I typed in the data manually and avoided the special characters. I am now writing to ask what the correct way it is. In the following I attach a sample data that refused to be dragged. Thanks for any guidance. JT Here's a sample data that refused to be dragged: * @article{auff\`{e}ves-garnier:053823, author = {Alexia Auff\`{e}ves-Garnier and Christoph Simon and Jean-Michel G\'{e}rard and Jean-Philippe Poizat}, collaboration = {}, title = {Giant optical nonlinearity induced by a single two-level system interacting with a cavity in the Purcell regime}, publisher = {APS}, year = {2007}, journal = {Physical Review A (Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics)}, volume = {75}, number = {5}, eid = {053823}, numpages = {16}, pages = {053823}, keywords = {nonlinear optics; microcavities; semiconductor quantum dots; quantum optics; atom-photon collisions}, url = {http://link.aps.org/abstract/PRA/v75/e053823}, doi = {10.1103/PhysRevA.75.053823} } ** which is from http://scitation.aip.org/getabs/servlet/GetCitation?source=scitation&PrefType=ARTICLE&PrefAction=Add+Selected&SelectCheck=PLRAAN750505382301&fn=view_bibtex2&downloadcitation=+Go+ - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc. Re: [Bibdesk-users] auto-generated minimal bibtex files
I put an example script hook on the Wiki to auto-save RIS. It should work (with todays nightly) also with Minimal BibTeX Database if you make the appropriate changes to the first 3 lines (also add a suffix, you don't want to override the full bibtex file). Christiaan On 30 Jul 2007, at 11:06 AM, Christiaan Hofman wrote: But note that this is not a template, it's an export type. Though that might not work, as AppKit has a buggy implementation of the save command (you may need todays nightly where it will be fixed). Or you can write a template for minimal bibtex. Re: [Bibdesk-users] auto-generated minimal bibtex files
But note that this is not a template, it's an export type. So in principle you should be able to use the "save" command for that (with the "in" and "as" arguments). Though that might not work, as AppKit has a buggy implementation of the save command (you may need todays nightly where it will be fixed). Or you can write a template for minimal bibtex.
