Re: [Ontbirds] Kingston area - Red-headed Woodp and Am Wigeon

2014-02-24 Thread Wallace Rendell
Hi, All,

Sorry for slow alert, but...

1. Invista Lagoon, Sat 8:45 am: I found a pair of Am. Wigeons at the lagoon,
plus the coots, redheads, scaup, mallards, red-br and common mergs, mute swans,
herring gulls, one ring-billed gull, common goldeneyes, and gadwall. I failed
to find red-necked grebe and ring-necks;

2. Gananoque Golf Course, Sat 10:30 am: The red-headed woodpecker was there,
but I did not find the red-bellies reported earlier.

[Ontbirds] No Fish Crow, Halton Hills, Feb 24

2014-02-24 Thread Leonard Manning
Ontbirders,

A group of us have just checked for some previously reported Fish Crows at
thr quarry on 6th line in Halton Hills.

We had no Fish Crows but we did see a mind boggling 3 American Crows which
may be a new county record.

Directions to this roost.
Take appleby road north from the 403 until it dips under the 401 and hits
campbelville rd. Go right and east on campbelville and then left on 6th
line. Quarry is on your right. Small parking lot on your left. Look for
crows.

[Ontbirds] Snowy Owl - Milton

2014-02-24 Thread Dan Birkenbergs
Good Evening,

As I was driving home from work today (approx. 5:15pm), I observed a Snowy Owl
perched on a tree near the roadside. The bird was located on Britannia Road
West in Milton, just west of Thompson Road South. The tree the bird perched in
was on the north side of Britannia. The bird did not remain long and flew off
in a north-easterly direction.

Directions to Milton: 401 to James Snow Parkway, follow JSP south to Britannia
Road. Take Britannia Road west towards Thompson Rd.

Happy Birding!

Drving from TBay to Sault Ste Marie, I stopped at the Subway in Terrace Bay for lunch. On my way back to the car I noted red in a tree and went over to investigate, and, low and behold, there was an American Robin sharing a tree with a female White-wingred Crossbill. Also, not bird related, i had an adult lynx liesurely cross the road in front o me - f to the point where I had to stop my car. This was to the East of the Agawa Bay campground.Cheers.Sent from Samsung Mobile ___
