Lots of other birds including a cooperative Barred Owl, many warbles

Grosbeak, GC Flycatcher, Field Sparrow, Pileated, Ruffed Grouse and much
more.

tracks, past the house with the ponds until you some to the parking area

south of the south path at Cranberry March , another Boreal Chickadee has bin
seen in a privet backyard in downtown Whitby also .

the sad thing was the Bard Owl that some bad photo hogs had bated down to the
path and wear braking tree limbs and trampling every thing
in their way to get the big shot . they wear so immersed with this bird
that no one saw the Screech Owl not 75 feet away

Hi Ontbirders

I notice no one has posted recent information on this amazing rarity that
Bill Gilmour found last evening so, just to update, the bird was seen at
the same location until about 730 this evening when it flew to the same
area it went to last night so hopefully it will be here again tomorrow
morning. It spent most of today in plain view from Bayshore Rd., mostly
at the first cottage east of the Calf Pasture bridge (usually in dead
tops of cedars by the 3 motor boats parked on the lawn), but also roamed
east several cottages and also did a few forays south of Bayshore into
the Calf Pasture field. This morning the bird began calling and became
active around 610 a.m. so as long as it stays tonight, one hopes a
similar pattern will repeat tomorrow. Good Luck all, and remember these
are private properties along Bayshore Rd. so please stay on the roadside
unless invited to enter a property by a landowner.

Doug

Because Bayshore Road is narrow with few good parking spots, please
access it from Presqu'ile Provincial Park at the Calf Pasture day use
area. Take the park road (instead of bayshore) and follow it; when it
becomes a one way loop, follow it around past the lighthouse and in about
3 km, go right on Atkins Lane to the Calf Pasture Day Use parking area.
When you go through the underpass, the bird is roughly 100m E of this
point or 150m from the parking lot. You can pick up a park newspaper at
the gate which has a map.

Re: [Ontbirds] Phainopepla some hints on seeing this bird

2009-11-17 Thread Craig McL.
I have had a number of emails on this sighting and it wood seem that not
every one knows wear to look ,

from what I could gather yesterday the best area is from # 8 Aberdeen up and
down the street on both sides

And the best time is after 11:am to 1:pm once the day has wormed up and
then around 3pm to 4pm ..

going on a sunny day is a must it is a fly catcher after all ..
