Re: [Blind-Computing] help with tappin radio;

2012-05-08 Thread dan mccurley
Hi; I am still struggling with taping; I wish I could get a later version
than the one I have which is 1.37.3 which used to work fine but doesn't now.
I have a friend who has the same version I do and she has more stations on
heir's than I dodo, now; many of the stations I used to have are gone and
the program will not let me add new stations; when I check for a new version
I get the dredged windows critical stop warning and it won't let me do it.
Any help would be appreciated.

The product I think you are talking about is t-a-p-i-n radio, not
t-a-p-i-n-g radio. (No big deal unless you are trying to do a google

Anyway, the website you want is: http://www.raimersoft.com/tapinradio.aspx

Here are the steps:
1. Go to your control pannel.

2. Pick up Accessories and than system tools and than system restore

Follow the instructions, it will act as a wixard.

There's a checkbox that you must check or uncheck, I forget which when that

Either way, the opposite of that checkbox will stop the dialog box from

Hi Dan,

It'll be in your start menu, under programs, then accessories, then under
system tools, almost at the bottom.

Some suggested that it was in your accessibility sub-menu, which was off
by

one menu.

I have shortcut icons on the tips and tricks page for system restore for
either XP or windows 7. I believe that second will also work in vista but
not certain.

Re: [Blind-Computing] shutting down the computer

2012-05-08 Thread Lennie

You are so right, David! Hybernation does not work with the shutdown command.

Lenny, thanks for the batch file to call poweroff. I will certainly
use it. Always learning something new for a very old programmer like me.

Take care.

I do not remember who all was also interested in setting a time to shut down
the computer. I just made a very basic batch file called poweroff.bat
It only has two lines as follows:
@echo off
shutdown -s -t %1
I then copied the file into the windows directory
so at the run command I will type poweroff ###
the ### is the number of seconds that I want to elapse before the computer
is turned off.

Glad it will work for you. remember if you set a shutdown time and decide to
change your mind you can always use shutdown with the -A to abort
