There is a chain of grocery stores in upstate NY and also in
Northern VA (they might be other places as well), who has a online
shopping

list feature that does just about all that you have asked about. I do not
think that it does the price thing you mentioned, but it does arrange the
list in order of where things are located in the store.

Maybe other stores in your area offer an online feature like this.

Does anybody know of a program that will allow the user to:

1) create and print a customized shopping list.

2) create specific categories of items to serve as headings on the
printed

list.

3) provide for several standing lists.

4) create a "master list" from which items will be selected.

I realize this is not a difficult project in a Word document, but I
thought

a program to do this sort of thing might be convenient.

Let's offer a "for instance" here; Joe needs to print up a shopping list
to
go to the hardware store. He would have created a "hardware master list"
at

some previous time and he could then launch the "Shopping List Manager"
program, select the "type" of list as "hardware store" and select items
from
his "master list" for hardware. The application would then have options
to

save this current list and print it out.

Now, suppose Joe's wife Joanne needs to go grocery shopping; she could
launch the program and open her last grocery list, add and delete items
from

a "master grocery list" and save and print the new list.

The Shopping List Manager would provide options to create various master
lists and add/delete items from each list. It would also print out clean
lists with only the items desired appearing. And each item might be
preceded by a hollow bullet so the shopper could check each item as it is
located.

And, oh yeah, the program should provide for caveats for items; i.e., "1
Pint Raspberries (unless they exceed $2.50/Pint)"

Not necessarily relevant, but to get to the page content, I generally use
Alt + D to get to the address bar, and then shift + tab will take me to
the last element of the page, and then ctrl + Home takes me to the top of

Yes, Mike, I use the method you gave to delete the addresses, but sometimes

With email stripper, does it automatically get rid of the addresses when you
press control f or do you have to call up the email stripper program?

Hi Arianna,
Do the following after you pressed control + F to forward. With Outlook
Express & XPSP3 Home if you go to the bottom / end of the list of Email
addresses, then arrow down to the subject line, press the end/1 key on the
number pad, then press the control, shift, + Home/7 keys to select from
the

end of the subject line to the top of the page , and press delete, you
shouldn't hav any problems. Personally I use a program called Email
Stripper to clean up Emails. There are 2 direct download links below.

Hi Arianna,

Try this;
1. Open the control panel and go to " System " and press enter or press
the

Windows key + pause for the system properties.
2. Press control + tab to go to the " Computer name " page.
3. Now, tab to the " change " choice and press space bar. I have not, and
I

repeat, " have not! ", done this myself, but a very knowledgeable person
told me at one time that if I ever needed to change the name of my
computer

this is where it would be done.

Please get more information on this before doing anything. Take care.

[Blind-Computing] Questions relating to installation of printer and also WinTrans

2010-01-25 Thread Arianna Calesso
Honestly, I don't even know how to describe completely the message I got when I
reinstalled WinTrans and also when I installed my printer. It has something to
do with 16 bit and DOS and 32 bit drivers. There was an ignore button which I
had to find with my Jaws cursor and then activate with the left mouse click and
that allowed me to both translate with WinTrans and install my printer.

Is there a way to rectify this situation so that I don't have to use that
ignore button each time I want to braille something or use my printer?

I hope this is understandable to someone out there because it's beyond me!

Hello Arianna. If using Outlook Express, press control F to forward, Go to
the body of the message you are forwarding and hit the Alt key. Now press
"O" for format and arrow down to where it says "plain text". Enter on it
and a warning will appear telling you the formatting will change. Hit OK
then you can delete the addresses. Hope this helps. Pete

Well, David, I was pretty close.

I have Lou in the hospital and have been taking my netbook back and forth

quit not only talking but there was no windows music sound, indicating to me
that it has become muted.

So far, the command hasn't worked, but I'm charging it up just in case the

Yes, and that command works just fine here,

Now having said that,
we really don't have much to work with here, such as do you have any

2010-06-28 Thread Arianna Calesso
Oh, Mike, if this works I surely will bless you. I've been fooling around
with this HP Pavilion ZD7000 laptop for months and no matter what I do,
video intercept just will not install.

From what I see, I have 3 display drivers listed and the latest one is the

default. Still no go!

I'm so sick and tired trying to get this thing to work and I hate to get rid
of this computer even though it isn't the latest and greatest because it has
always served me well. I had a very knowledgeable person working on it when
I had a problem with it and when it came back the video intercept would not
install.

I hope I understand your directions well enough to try your solution.

Any more tips will be great!

I'll let you know how I make out when I do the job.

Hi Arianna;

It sounds like you are having the same problem that I had in trying to
update the NVIDIA video card. I tried to update with the update titled "
197.75...". When I tried to run this update it wouldn't install to the
folder all the past updates would install to, and wanted for me to choose
where to install the update to. I tried routing the update to the NVIDIA
folder in Program Files where all the other updates went but, without any
luck. Long story short, trying to run this particular update screwed up
my
computer and I had to have a technician fix both of my computers. You
see,

I wasn't happy screwing up just 1 computer, I had to screw up both of them
to feel satisfied! LOL Possibly you can do a system restore and get back
to where you were before you tried to update. Was there any particular
reason for trying to update? I always tried to keep my video card updated
until this last fiasco and I will never try to update the video card
again!
If you are wanting to install the video intercept and are running Jaws10
and

up, I have always had to remove the Freedom Scientific admin tool through
add & remove programs in the control panel first, then run the FS video
intercept32 bit.exe that you have downloaded and saved beforehand. The
direct download link is below.

ftp://ftp.freedomscientific.com/users/hj/private/WebFiles/Tools/FSVideoIntercept-32bit.exe

Now, I must say that this is the way that I have gotten around the video
intercept not wanting to install after updating my video card using Jaws10
latest. Others might disagree but, as I said, this is the only way I
could

get the video intercept to install. If you have any more questions that I
might be able to help regarding this issue feel free to contact me off
list.

I hope that some or all of what I have said can be some help. Take care.
Mike

Hi Arianna,
When you are going thru the install, the files should have a default path,
which can be changed if you wish to do so.
The default will probably be on the C drive, and have a name such as,
cabs,

or NVidia.
In the install dialogue, the file path should be given, and the next tab
should be a browse button.
If this is the case, just let it install where it is set to, noting that
location, and when that process is complete, go to the specified folder,
and

run the setup.exe.
As Jacob said, these packages do vary, so you will have to proceed with
extracting the files, and
follow the prompts, and let us know if you need more help.

Hi Arianna,

Yeah, that's exactly what you want, you want to hear the other machine's
Jaws speaking so that you know what's going on on the distant computer.
You don't need your jaws while working on the other machine. As soon as
you get your job done, swich to your computer by hitting the scroll lock.

Another thing folks, while manipulating the distant machine, you will not
be able to use alt tab to swich between the open windows in your client's
computer, you should first hit windows key + tab once, then releace them
and start using alt tab just then. If you start alt tabbing without
hitting the mentioned keystroke first, you can not swich between open
applications.

The solution is the following:

First, call your client via skype or MSN.

Second, ask him/her to run his/her jaws and turn the speakers on.

Third, ask him to ajust the volume until you feel comfortable hearing

Hi Arianna,

Yeah, that's exactly what you want, you want to hear the other machine's
Jaws speaking so that you know what's going on on the distant computer.
You don't need your jaws while working on the other machine. As soon as
you get your job done, swich to your computer by hitting the scroll
lock.

Another thing folks, while manipulating the distant machine, you will
not be able to use alt tab to swich between the open windows in your
client's computer, you should first hit windows key + tab once, then
releace them and start using alt tab just then. If you start alt tabbing
without hitting the mentioned keystroke first, you can not swich between
open applications.

Again, sorry if i am a bit confused in guiding you, but that's how i
learned it, just by experementing

Good luck

Hi there,

There is a free program called team viewer that enables one person to
control another's machine. This program is designed essencially for
the sighted user, however, I tested it with jaws and it works quite
well, in fact there are still some few things one can not do on the
client's machine especially performing specific jaws hotKeys, but i
was able to fix nearly everything that needed to be fixed on that
distant machine.

YOUR MESSAGE BEGINS BELOW.

I'm changing from Outlook Express to Outlook 2003, using Jaws 11 and XP Pro.

First of all, you have to make sure that Outlook Express is completely gone
from your system. You may need to uninstall your current Internet Explorer
and then re-install it. If there is a conflict between both programs,
neither may work at all.

i've set up my account, but can't get email to either be sent out or come
in.
You can set up an account directly with Outlook itself but that may not
work. I suggest you go to the Control Panel and then to mail and try it
that way. In addition, there's a check box that has to be checked in the
Additional Options section when you are setting up the account. That check
box is necessary for most SMTP style accounts.

I closed out my account on that computer in OE and outlook appears to be the
default.
It may appear so, but if Outlook Express is still in the system, it won't
work.

Does anyone have any idea what I'm missing here?
Primarily, I believe that you are having a software conflict between Outlook
Express and Outlook. Although they both can run in a single system, they
don't do so comfortably. The designers assumed that the user would move
eventually to the complete Outlook program.

Another question I have is: Is there a way to set Outlook up so messages
come in automatically when I open the program
I don't think so. Usually, you have to press F9 to initiate download of
your messages.

? Also, how do I make messages come into my inbox folder when in options it
says they'll come into the personal folder?
Actually, your In Bpox is the primary Personal Folder. You can create
others of course and use mail rules to sort messages into those folders.
But Outlook 2003 considers the In Box as a personal folder. That's the
Default setting.

I'll surely appreciate any help from anyone with patience.

Tony, I'm new using this voiceNote mPower and I'm having a strange situation
going on. My VN keeps beeping the whole time it's on. The battery is at
96%, so it isn't a low battery warning.

Might you know what this is and how do i get rid of it?

I appreciate your emailing me back because I'm going to need someone to help
me from time to time.

Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Computer braille question

Hi Arianna. This is from the braille note manual. Hope it helps.

There are two sorts of computer Braille: 6-dot and 8-dot. In 6-dot, a
capital letter is obtained by pressing SPACE with U before the letter. If
you press
SPACE with U twice, capitals continue until you turn them off by pressing
SPACE with U again.
Alternatively, you can employ 8-dot Braille. The two keys that we have been
calling BACKSPACE and ENTER are used in 8-dot Braille for dot 7 and dot 8
respectively.
These two dots are the bottom two of the 4 by 2 dot cell used for 8-dot
Braille. There is no separate capital sign. Instead, you get upper case by
adding
dot 7 to each letter sign. For instance, capital A is dots 1-7. Since dots
7 and 8 are used for characters in 8-dot Braille, the ENTER and BACKSPACE
functions have to be obtained in a different way:
For ENTER, press SPACE with ENTER, and
For BACKSPACE, press SPACE with BACKSPACE.

Hi Arianna,

To shut this off, you go to the options dialog box, under the send tab, then
tab to the html settings and press the spacebar.

In the resulting dialog box, uncheck the box that says indent original
message, then tab to ok.

Once done, tab to the second button, labelled Plain Text settings, and again
press the spacebar.

Once in that dialog box, tab to the indent message with... and make sure
that box is unchecked.

Once done, tab to the ok button and press it.

You can do this for the next two buttons also, but those next two are for
newsgroups and the like, so it's your choice if you change those or not, as
I don't usually use Outlook Express as a newsgroup reader.

Anyway, hope this helps.

[Blind-Computing] Can no longer get into OE on one of my computers

2009-02-05 Thread Arianna Calesso
Well, the subject says it all. The computer was doing just fine in OE and all
of a sudden, it just gives me an error message. The error message is:

0x800ccc0f

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. possible causes for
this include: server problems, network problems or a long period of inactivity.

Can anyone make anything out of this.

My other computers are fine on oe with the same account.

This is a toshiba notebook computer.

Thanks for any help.

Just try again after some time. There are times when it does this, but it
correct itself. Give it some time.

Try reconfiguring your mail scanner and see if that helps.

Check and un check your settings. Then put them back the way you want and
reboot.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Can no longer get into OE on one of mycomputers

2009-02-06 Thread Arianna Calesso
Hi, Victor!

this has nothing to do with my ISP. my HP computer and my husband's
computer are just fine in OE.

I did delete my account and create a new one, but I may just do it again to
be sure.

It's weird because this happened from one day to the next and nothing was
changed as far as settings is concerned.

I have JAWS 9 and XP Pro with service pack 3 on that Toshiba computer. I
have AVG 8 also.

Any more suggestions?

Hi Arianna,

Have you actually called the ISP to find out if service is still on in your
area, as they may be having network difficulties.

An easy way to diagnose this without your ISP's involvement is if you're
able to get mail from the same account on another computer, then it's a sure
bet that it has nothing to do with the connection and something has gotten
corrupted on the computer's end.

Another thing you might want to ask the ISP anyway about is if they changed
the settings for pop access for your area.

My ISP changed the server setting numbers and didn't bother to warn their
customers and so received a tonne of calls asking them why they couldn't
access their mail anymore, but could do so on the net.

If you want to check this for yourself, go to the ISP home page and see if
there's any mention of server port numbers and/or server changes to their
customers.

Of course, the easiest way of figuring this out is to call your ISP and
asking them.

Alternatively, if you find the trouble to be on your local computer, you
might want to try re-creating the account.

In other words, go into the tools menu, then into accounts, and highlight
the account that is giving you the trouble.

Once highlighted, tab to the remove or delete button, and remove it.

Once done, shift+tab to the add button, and press the spacebar to create a
new mail account.

At this point, follow the steps and re-create the account, as it may have
been corrupted.

If you're still not getting any results, do a scan for any viruses, and/or
malware that may be affecting your computer, and specifically, Outlook
Express.

Barring that, we'll have to re-visit the problem again once you've
accomplished the steps above and try to figure out something else.

Take care, and good luck.

[Blind-Computing] Computer locks up when setting up wireless connection

2009-02-11 Thread Arianna Calesso
The subject state the situation.

A family member gave me a Toshiba notebook computer with a wireless card and he
had several different connections set up. I deleted them and as far as i can
tell, mine is the only one set up. Our secure wireless account is being
recognized, but when I try to connect JAWS won't speak and the whole computer
locks up so I have to shut down with the power button.
