[Blind-Computing] USB sound
I need some advice on a few things. I want to put all of my music on the computer. Windows 7 64 bit using jaws or NVDA. Will use windows media player unless any one has a better player in mind. I am going to buy a USB wireless transmitter and send the music down stairs to my stereo. The question is, when I plug in the USB transmitter will the sound stop coming out of my computer speakers. I have a dell computer and the speakers and microphone connect to the built in sound card. It is a Conexant HD Audio. I want to have sound on my computer so I can hear jaws when I am using the computer but when I go down to cook and have dinner want to have the music come out down stairs from the stereo. Has anyone done this? If so what player did you use to transfer the music to mp3 format and how did you deal with the sound situation. thanks For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
Re: [Blind-Computing] USB sound
Hi First, one can go in to the windows media player settings and tell it to automatically rip any cd you play. That is how I set mine up. Next, I go back in to the settings and tell windows media player to only rip music to the MP3 format. There is also a setting for the quality of music file you like. I usually set mine to 100%. On the USB device. You will need to tell JAWSwhich audio device to use. After that, when ever you plug in the USB device, JAWS will know not to use it, and keep using your normal speakers... Re: [Blind-Computing] USB Sound Card Recommendations
Hi David, Thank you very much for your input. I would like to get a USB soundcard that has some bass treble adjustment if possible because, adjusting the pitch with Jaws just doesn't make Jaws as sharp as I would like to have it. I have certain tone hearing impairments that I would like to compensate for but, if I can't get a USB soundcard that will do it, I will just have to use what I get tweak my speakers as much as possible. Take care. Hi John; I ran into this problem with my desktop computers as well but, the problem wasn't the sound card. the problem was running a PS2 keyboard, plugged into a USB port via a, PS2 to USB adaptor / converter. When using the keyboard without the, PS2 to USB adaptor, plugged straight into a PS2 port, I didn't have any problems. Are you by any chance using a PS2 keyboard through a USB port? Take care.
