You would open Firefox from either the desktop or start menu. You can
also type firefox into the run dialogue box. Your home page will open.
You can then press ctrl+l and type the URL of the site you want to go
to, then press enter. When finished, close out Firefox with the usual
keystroke.

I noticed something about that. Every time I use control L to type in an

Alternatively, In IE8 control L brings up a blank edit field so I don't

You don't need to delete anything; when you press ctrl+l the text is all

Moving through tabs is not a jaws specific functionality, so you can use the
firefox commands. They are the same as in IE.

Ctrl+tab will move you to the next tab.
Ctrl+shift+tab will move you to the previous tab.
Ctrl+1 through 0 on the number row will move you directly to the

Assuming you installed webvisum,

When you clicked on the fire fox browser, Jaws should have announced ...
You are logged into webvisum. close this message
If you have no need for Webvisum it will just sit there until you key stroke
it into service.
For instance if you load a page that does not have a capture immage and use
the key combination (control, alt, plus 6) on the number's row, Jaws will
announce ...
No capture immage found on this page. close this message.

I've been thinking about that little tag, close this message.
The only thing I can figure is a sighted person using Webvisum might need
to click once Webvisum performs a task. Just a thought.

Hi dan,

In step #3 of my previous outline Webvisum instructs the user to close
this

message It has been my experience to ignore the instruction and remain
focused on the task at hand. I don't think you'll experience any problems.

I am using jaws with webvisum. Occasionally I see things that say close
this message. Sometimes it's tricky to find the button to do this

because

jaws may be focused totally somewhere else.
Is there a way to do that from the keyboard?
thanks.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Firefox question

2009-05-11 Thread David Griffith
I switch often between IE and FireFox. In fact I only really use fireFox to
access inaccessible capture.
The easiest way to switch between IE and Mozilla Firefox is to '

1. Whilst in IE Press F6 to go to the address bar.
2 , Press Control C to copy the contents of the address bar.
3. Open Fire Fox and press F6 again to go to the address bar here.
4. Press control v to paste the address from your IE page and press enter.

The page you were on in IE will then open in FireFox as well.
The downside with switching between IE and FireFox is that they tend to quiz
you as to whether you want them to be the default browser all the time but
you can set this check to off in preferences.

Hi,
That's a Jaws issue, sometimes it opens in the right place, sometimes not,
you could probably set up a place marker permanently and have JFw move to
that spot when it sees the Google.com domain.

Do a google search for Webvisum, it takes a bit to get registered with email
verification and well, there are a few hoops to jump through but when it
works, it's sweet.

Hi,
Yes the need to actually learn a browser in this case is truly a myth.
The only real difference you'll see is that you use control L to open a
location in stead of Control plus O in IE.
But once you get used to it, the Control plus L keystroke works in IE as
well.
The page loads with Firefox and Jaws are much faster too.

You can't have it both ways. Webvisum only works with Firefox, so if you
want the ability to solve image captias without sighted help, this is the
only way to go. Firefox is not drastically different from IE, so you can
use it right away withot having to learn a lot of new keystrokes. I use IE

encounter one of those nasty captias. And don't count on FS to include an

I use firefox because it's restraint of aggressive pop-ups renders some
otherwise unreadable sites accessible. It is far faster and cleaner
operating than Internet explorer, and I've found no issues whatever with
jaws. I do, however, have Jaws 9. Whether 6.2 would be affected, who
knows? I've found no necessity for scripts. Good luck.
