Re: [Blind-Computing] THE TERM synchronize IN E-MAIL PROGRAMS

2010-02-20 Thread Jacob Kruger
While Rick's answer is right, I think the term synchronise generally applies
to outlook/exchange server etc. since while you can read messages offline
etc., it sort of stays connected to the server while online, whereas things
like outlook express etc. really just carry out send/receive commands either
at regular intervals, or when you tell it to.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] THE TERM synchronize IN E-MAIL PROGRAMS

Group,
I have searched through the support pages for this term and have been
unable to find anything useful. for the record, what exactly is
synchronize when referring to operations in an e-mail program? I'm
using a relatively new e-mail client called Windows Live Mail. it's the
one recommended for use with Windows 7. Can someone tell me in plain
English what I can expect if I decide to synchronize my e-mail?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi John,

From the Outlook Express help

When you are working offline, you can read and respond to e-mail messages
just as you would when working online. The next time you work
online, your server-based e-mail account will synchronize the e-mail on
your

computer with the server. During the synchronization process, the actions
you performed in your account are carried out on the server.
HTH,
Rick Justice
