[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Question about faxing
In V1 Section 4, there is a portion where you set up faxing on a router. I've done this setup before for a customer, and as a result some of the config here is causing me confusion. I know, a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing Specifically, the module instruction 8 says Unity needs to accept in-bound faxes at the mailbox of incoming...@voip.lab The proctor guide shows in the MMOIP configuration the following: dial-peer voice 20 mmoip service fax_on_vfc_onramp_app outbound destination-pattern 617521280. information-type fax session target mailto:faxinboundmail...@voip.lab If we had used the destination number to create the alias, the last line would have bee: session target mailto:$...@voip.lab But when sent over to Unity, this would have created a mail alias on the message similar to fax=5551...@voip.lab (assuming 5551212 was the incoming DID) My questions are as follow on this: 1. Is the proctor guide wrong here? Should the session target be set to: session target mailto:inboundmail...@voip.lab (i.e. and not mailto:faxinboundmail...@voip.lab as shown in the protor guide? or does this application add FAX= to anything you put here? I'd think this would still be wrong though.) 2. I believe that if you use $d$, it prefaces with FAX= because it uses this as the CSID identifier on the page when you use the command: fax receive called-subscriber $d$ Am I correct on this in that the FAX= is part of the $d$ value and not required for the session target at all? [OSL | CCIE_Voice] SRST in CME only deployment??
List, I've tried in vain to convince my friend with a lot of pain, pointing out links at Cisco.com and even suggesting that I lend him my Voice books, that you cannot have SRST fallback with only two sites with only CME. That indeed you MUST have CM to do SRST fallback and that this is not a CME feature. He has offered $100 to prove this to him and I feel so bad taking money from him. From Cisco's web site: Cisco Unified Survivable Remote Site Telephony is a unique feature set embedded in the software running on Cisco routers. It takes advantage of a remote office's existing network to provide multi feature call-processing redundancy for centralized Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Cisco Unified Communications Manager Business Edition deployments if the office's or the teleworker's home WAN connection is lost.** Note that CME is specifically NOT mentioned. Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] SRST in CME only deployment??
Could also be thinking of the CME as SRST feature. This where CME is used instead of SRST as a failover for UCM. SRST is for backing up Centralized CallManager/Communications Manager deployments. Cliff - Original Message - *From:* Rogers O. He's in the Cisco Voice world and I would like him to get a good foundation on the basics as he plans to pursue his CCIE Voice Lab soon. Regards Rogers
Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] How to avoid the switches to Mark or Remark any packets ?
That shouldn't be necessary because the switches aren't paying attention to the markings or doing any queuing with QoS turned off. o Ninja wrote: Just more one thought, how about the traffic that goes back to the CCM or Phones from the serial interfaces ? Should I create other policy to mark packets in that direction too ? Thanks in advance. Thats right, if the QoS is globally disabled on the switch, It will not touch the COS or DSCP markings. You'll need to issue: no mls qos on CAT3550 set qos disable on CAT6500 However look carefully at what the lab wants you to do. You may need to create a policy in the MQC that will mark packets that go into the routers from the switches using either NBAR or ACLs to classify the traffic. Otherwise, the LLQ on serial interfaces may fail because packets aren't properly marked by the originating device. Chris o Ninja wrote: Hello All, What is the best approach to make sure that my switches are not going to mark or remark any packets coming and going to the endpoints ? [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Something strange on the 6608
I have a 6608 in slot 5 of the catalyst.I've configured 5/2 as a conf bridge and 5/3 as a transcoder. When I issue a Show port 5 , port 5/3 displays type as Conf Bridge Under the CCM interface , the transcoder display an unknown registration status. Anyone run into this? It's as if CM is passing it the wrong load. - Scott
