You better to be familiar on how to write the List.xml script without referring
to any doc during ur attempt.

Not that too difficult, get yourself typing the below stuff 10times per day
till the exam.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] Ringlist.xml and List.xml

2011-06-08 Thread Adil Shaikh
Hi All,

There are two simple questions (easy score points) raised in some ccie voice
forums. They are add Background Image (create List.xml) on a phone and
Removal a particular Ringtone (edit Ringlist.xml) from a phone.

For BGimage 7965 admin guide shows the clear example of List.xml file.

However, for the removal of particular ringtone from Ringlist.xml, i am
practicing following method. If anyone know another method then could you
please let me know.

1) ssh to PUB and issue command file view tftp Ringlist.xml
2) Copy 110 lines to notepad and remove appropriate tag lines and save it on
desktop as Ringlist.xml
3) Go to CM OS admin page and upload Ringlist.xml in / directory of non-tftp
running CM.
4) Start TFTP service on that CM
5) Change TFTP address on the phone to point to a above CM. This is
manually changing TFTP address which was originally assigned from DHCP
server.

Thanks

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] I just got my Fail result

2011-06-08 Thread Victor Malyuga
That is very interesting.

Are there any implicit requirements for call routing?

For instance, do we need to set up ISDN Numbering Plan if there are no specific
requirements or leave to default settings? Do we need to specifically allow
calling name on RP, or leave to default, which is allowed anyway?

Do we lose points for changing defaults or Do we lose points for not changing
defaults?

To be or not to be? This question was raised long time before cisco.

Also, you have to reset TFTP service if it is running. It serves the old
file until you do. Be prepared to do this task on the SUB as well. I
wouldn't recommend changing the tftp, because then you have to change your
DHCP option and reset the phones, then change back You could burn some
time there.

Hi Rahul,

the other approach is to go to the device you want this to be achived.

set 'Services Provisioning[image: Required Field]' to external URL
and in 'External Data Locations Information (Leave blank to use default)'
section
set Directory to anything you like for example type word 'nowhere'
Reset the phone and you are done.

Is this CCIE exam accepted answer? I do not know.

I tested made test calls to verify the workflow. What could be the

I don't understand why step 5. Dont you have the phones pointing to that
server already?

If you talk about CME phones, then the ringlist must be uploaded to CME, not
CUCM.

 Hi All,

There are two simple questions (easy score points) raised in some ccie
voice forums.

 2) Copy 110 lines to notepad and remove appropriate tag lines and save it
 on desktop as Ringlist.xml
 3) Go to CM OS admin page and upload Ringlist.xml in / directory of
 non-tftp running CM.
 4) Start TFTP service on that CM
 5) Change TFTP address on the phone to point to a above CM. This is
manually changing TFTP address which was originally assigned from DHCP
 server.

 Hi Friends:

Building my home lab was exciting. Getting the basic infrastructure
configured correctly is fun and also as times tedious.

I have me 2811 router configured as PSTN.

-- I configured the dhcp and used the loopback 10.10.110.3 as the default
router and as option 150. The ephone-dn and ephone 1 has been configured.
But, I don't seem to get the dhcp and ip add on the phone.

-- My pstn phone get its power from a 3550 switch. Do I need to configure a
 voice vlan for it?

-- The IPExpert pstn config doesn't have any dhcp configured. How does the
 router get the dhcp address?

Thank you for any feedback or suggestions

need to understand their grading philosophy so I don't miss the trivial

All;

All you need to do is go to Phone service
Open Missed Calls, Received Calls, etc,(directory related) and copy all the
URLs to notepad.
Then delete those.
Then re-add them (or only the ones needed) but don't check the Enterprise
Subscription box.
Then subscribe the individual phones to these services.

Don't delete the voicemail one. :)

I've already tested this.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] CME background with only 2 files

2011-06-08 Thread Extenok
Hi,

Another easier way is to go to the Cisco website and browse to:
UCIP TelephonyCall ControlCUCMEConfig Examples

Here you'll find a sample config for changing the background of a 7970 for a
CME deployment, the sizing is same for a 7965 (320x212, i think). And the
important thing, the List.xml format is the same for CUCM.

Now you can focus on practicing something more complex 10 times a day :)

Hi Randall,

IF we do not do step 5 then the phone in question will continue to point to
old TFTP server which does not have a modified Ringlist.xml file.
If the question is to delete a particular ringtone from Phone7 at Site Z.
Then you need to direct Phone7 at Site Z to a TFTP server which has the
modified Ringlist.xml file.

Instead of manually changing TFTP address on phone, you can assign different
TFTP using DHCP server for a particualr MAC address.

However, for the removal of particular ringtone from Ringlist.xml, i am

 1) ssh to PUB and issue command file view tftp Ringlist.xml
 2) Copy 110 lines to notepad and remove appropriate tag lines and save it

 3) Go to CM OS admin page and upload Ringlist.xml in / directory of

 4) Start TFTP service on that CM
 5) Change TFTP address on the phone to point to a above CM. This is

Then you need to direct Phone7 at Site Z to a TFTP server which has the
 modified Ringlist.xml file.

Instead of manually changing TFTP address on phone, you can assign
different TFTP using DHCP server for a particualr MAC address.

If you talk about CME phones, then the ringlist must be uploaded to CME,
 not CUCM.

 Hi All,

There are two simple questions (easy score points) raised in some ccie
voice forums.

 2) Copy 110 lines to notepad and remove appropriate tag lines and save it
 on desktop as Ringlist.xml
 3) Go to CM OS admin page and upload Ringlist.xml in / directory of
 non-tftp running CM.
 4) Start TFTP service on that CM
 5) Change TFTP address on the phone to point to a above CM. This
is manually changing TFTP address which was originally assigned from DHCP
 server.

 Thanks

what if you have the subscriber working as a TFTP as well ?

 I still don't follow you.

If your DHCP has Publisher as TFTP, then why would you change the RingList
on some other tftp server instead of on Publisher.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Ringlist.xml and List.xml

2011-06-08 Thread Nirvair Sahota
I believe, if you need different ring tones for different phones,  you need
different ring tone lists. On pub you can have only one RingList.xml file,
which means all phones will have same ring tones. So, if you want differnt tone
sets available to different phones, you will need different tftp srevers for
differnet RingList.xml files, which will have different contents.
