Thank for the answer. I only repported it because of cdrecord request. I always use cdrecord with those medias and have burn really a hudge lots of those same media with it, for an unknown reason two medias got errors with cdrecord and I burned again with growisofs which worked, who know if cdrecord wouldn't have achieved the same result ? Hello, I don't really like to say this... but I have to : I don't like the way linux takes with hal/dbus... They are certainly really great when right configured, but for some unknown reason, with both of them, my iso level 3 DVD appeared empty for non root users... Hello, is there something that could be learnt from 6/6 sucesses when using nero ? (I use md5sum to test result if someone know a faster way, I am interested...). With growisofs, it was alsmost complete, cdrskin and cdrecord seemed to be able to wrote only half of my file. Maybe I should retry one with growisofs ? I have tried two different burners : both lite on ones, I only got Prodye double black 8.5GB 240 min double layer 8x DVD+R DL medias here. Oh, I always thought cdrskin was to burn pictures (or lighscribe) ontop of CD/DVD... nice to learn I was wrong ;-) Before I make a make install in it source dir (I alreay compiled cdrskin-0.4.6.pl00.tar.gz) and possibly mess my gentoo install, is there a way to simply start it from it source directory ? Your claim here is wrong, I could always read it under my linux box, as I did a md5sum of my burn after each burn, and wodim was always perfect, it's only problem for me whas that they couldn't be read (there seems empty) on OSX. That could be a bug in genisoimage or whatever, now I use your mkisofs, which should prevent problem and also using growisofs which I use on the other computer for long times (I choose it at time I couldn't compil myself cdrecord for DVD). -- Grégoire FAVRE http://gregoire.favre.googlepages.com http://www.gnupg.org http://picasaweb.google.com/Gregoire.Favre -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". I should have tried again growisofs, now I remember having done some testings on my older computer with the author of dvd+rw-tools because the disks weren't closed on the Sony 500A, and he wrote a small part of code to close disk... Hello, I use cdrecord-prodvd-2.01a27-i686-pc-linux-gnu with this drive and firmware 2.1a and it works perfectly, both as ide-scsi (not tested for a long time...) and with ide-cd (kernel 2.6.7). I have also good result with growisofs (all with -R(W) media, not tried + ones... as the only + media I had wasn't recognized by the drive). In growisofs there is a nice tool dvd+rw-mediainfo which you could try for learning if your media is recongized or not. Last point : on cheap media don't trust the speed as it may result in unreadable media... Good luck :-) -- Grégoire Favre http://magma.epfl.ch/greg ICQ:16624071 mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
