Alarming development. Liberia is trying to censor news about the Ebola epidemic in that country. http://uk.reuters.com/article/2014/10/03/us-health-ebola-liberia-idUKKCN0HS15Q20141003 This crap is why it has spread so quickly in those countries. ~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:372794 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/unsubscribe.cfm

Re: Ebola in our hemisphere, you scared?
Having spent most of the last week at the hospital watching infectious disease experts and pulmonary specialists try to diagnose what is wrong with my son, I have concluded that what they know about bacteria and viruses would fill a thimble with room left over for their brains. They spent two days doing cultures, decided that he has some rare strain of bacterial infection, fed him multiple bags of IV antibiotics, then decided that was not the real problem, only sample contamination. If he had a serious disease like Ebola, the sloppiness with which they have dealt with his illness would have infected the entire hospital by now. ~| Order the Adobe Coldfusion Anthology now! http://www.amazon.com/Adobe-Coldfusion-Anthology/dp/1430272155/?tag=houseoffusion Archive: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/message.cfm/messageid:372792 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/subscribe.cfm Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/groups/cf-community/unsubscribe.cfm

The major issue is that all of the news outlets are doing little more than spreading fear and misinformation. Ignorant people then panicking about it and spreading even more info that they read on tinfoil hat websites doesn't help either. Yes...if you remove your protective suit the wrong way and come in contact with body fluids that are on your protective suit...yup...you are now infected. It is very virulent, but you still have to actually come in contact with body fluids. The virus also lasts longer than most outside the body. Not to mention poor sanitation and infected drinking sources. The guy that came over here got it because he helped to carry his infected sister or cousin...I forget which offhand) who ended up dying. It is transmitted through the sweat, so when you pick a body up (and touch their skin or come in contact with cloth that is soaked with their seat, blood, puke, etc...), of someone that has died or is infection, you get infected. It's can also be transmitted sexually up to 6 weeks after recoverythey are trying to get males to make sure they wear condoms in the nations where the epidemic has been declared over to try and prevent a resurgence of it. -Original Message- From: C. Re: Ebola in our hemisphere, you scared?
The reason that Ebola gets the attention that it does is because it is very visibly horrific. It is a truly awful disease and very difficult to treat. However, there is not a long period of transmissibility before a person becomes symptomatic and the transmission of the virus is (relatively) difficult because it is not airborne. Ebola is not often, if ever at all, transmitted through sneezing and never through coughing as far as anyone knows. http://www.who.int/mediacentre/news/ebola/06-october-2014/en/ It's an awful disease, no doubt. But not one that is really made for a pandemic. Cheers, Judah On Thu, Oct 9, 2014 at 5:11 AM, Vivec wrote: > > I'm reading about Ebola in the US.
