RE: crystal tech - access databases

2004-02-07 Thread Jason Egan
Tim,

There is a SQL list at houseoffusion.com.

I agree with Cameron that MS Access shouldn't be used for web apps, but in
some cases it is all you have or your only option.  There are a few good
tricks for maintenance, use etc if access is what you have to use, but IF
you have the option of using a SQL server (MS or MySQL) then I would take a
good look at it. it is well worth the migration and really isn't that
difficult to do.  Some ISP's will give you a hand in the migration as well.

Take care,

Thanks Cameron... I think its probably time to look at SQL server 2000
I've had the developer edition for some time but never took the
time to learn it... Is there a good mail list similar to this one for
dialoging with SQL Svr 2000 users?

The .ldb file problem is "an access thing", and the best long term
solution
*is* to not use a desktop database for a web application.  That's not a
practically solution for everyone...

The ldb file represents a connection to your database from an
application
(CF in your case).  Even if you rid yourself of it using a bogus query
or
other method, it will return the second your web app gets another hit.
If
you have any traffic at all on your app, you might consider actually
taking
the app offline when you are trying to move around the database like
this.
I've used a short message and a at the top of the
application.cfm
file before to accomplish this.

Also, remember that CF may cache the connection to your Access DB unless
"Maintain Connections" is unchecked in the CFADMIN for this ODBC
connection.
You may want to have your ISP double check that setting if you are
unsure
that it's unchecked.

Finally, it can be helpful to make a copy of your DB and download the
copy
rather than the live DB.  Copying the DB is alot quicker than
downloading it
and the time window you need to leave open for a copy is much more
manageable.

Hello All... I'm having a real problem with not being able to upload or
download access databases with crystal tech hosting... the .ldb file
hangs around any prevents the upload or download.  I've even tried the
bogus query method and that doesn't work.

Has anybody experienced this before with Crystal Tech?  I use other
hosts (es. Media 3)and never have this problem ... Crystal Tech claims
its an access thing and to look at SQL server or MySQL... I will be
moving some databases to SQL server but not all

Any insight would be appreciated

WE have been having terrible times with our Verity collections corrupting,
being unable to update etc at our host and am looking for alternatives.

It simply queries a database and a lot of fields, some quite lengthy...so
not sure a simply SQL query is an option, but are there other solutions
everyone is using for higher end and more robust searches of your sites?

Thanks for any pointers in advance!

Thane

You might want to look into Fusionscript at www.fusionscript.com

With this you can do calls back to the database without refreshing your
page.

This is an example of a FS function:

">
Dept2

Then on your Serverpage (just the CF template with the query code) you would
have something like:

 Select *
 WHERE Dept = #ActiveServer.Department#

You could have as many calls in the function as you needed to populate any
number of select boxes. you can run any CF code on the server page.

I don't think this is what I want. I've got about 30 combo boxes, all
with four or five departments. What I want to do is when I select the
first department for the first person, the following boxes change to that
department. Then if I change the department for the second person, I want
the remaining boxes to change to that.

RE: IIS Security

2002-09-24 Thread Jason Egan

You can get around the problems with NT sec. and NS --- BUT the biggest
problem would be having to manually add all of those users -- yes, there
are license issues -- and there are tags out there to add users through
code to the NT sec. model - better yet would be if you are using the
LDAP to add users with active directory The short of it is the
already created security model... It is there... And it works. GOOD!

BUT... Doing your own security with CF is great! You have total control
over what you do, and where you let people go. You can do this out of a
database or LDAP -- you have total control and portability. Perhaps you
move to a new box - all new users... Uggg...

I would go for CF security -- but if you choose NT security make the
users part of a domain rather than part of a single box security -- then
if you do have to move boxes for some reason - the users are still
there!

Good luck!

Well, yes, if it is the same var you would want the same name... Sorry.
But if you have session.longprocess, and session.shortprocess then you
would want to use names on your locks, but wherever you have

Right - I use the name attribute for cflock rather than scope
(occasionally) because my understanding is that when you lock on the
scope you Lock the entire scope down for that transaction -- if you use
names, then they are all (potentially) unique and you won't have a
usually fast process waiting on a slow process - essentially denying
client access because of scope locking...

RE: HELP! with writing documentation.

2002-09-16 Thread Jason Egan

John,

You may want to look at some of the coding methods out there... Like
fusebox. I use that and find it very useful in documenting etc. It
would allow you to describe each template -- custom tags, etc. What is
expected and what is to result -- you may want to take a look at it.

Now if you are wanting a more high-level document I think you're on the
right track... Make sure you document your security and as many business
rules as you can. I often find that if business rules aren't laid out
they get forgotten, then they don't get implemented correctly down the
road. The database won't be able to take care of every rule... The code
will have some of that responsibility - business rules are important.

Just my 2c.

Good luck!

Usually, the answer would be to write an ActiveX executable to do this for
you, and have that executable downloaded from your server via an OBJECT
reference in your HTML page.

However, it would probably be even easier to simply add some code to your
Delphi forms, and have them send the ID back on each page request.

OT: reading local INI file

2001-03-05 Thread Jason Egan

I have set up several kiosks, each of them are connected to the net... I
need to uniquely identify each computer, but without human intervention.
The browser is a Delphi form, and part of the INI file that is on each kiosk
contains a unique ID for that kiosk. Any ideas for reading that INI file on
the local computer without human intervention? Each kiosk doesn't have pws
or cf express or anything running on them, just a straight NT box with IE
and these Delphi forms.

??? - I know how to read through and INI file that is on the server, but not
on the local box.

reading lists over and over

2001-02-28 Thread Jason Egan

I have a text file that I have to read in and populate drop downs with. It
is essentially an invoice, so each time a line is added I have to read
through the file again and fill in drop downs, match data from the file to
that entered etc.

S... what I have done so far is save the file into a session variable so
that it doesn't have to be read from the drive each time, that has saved
some time, but parsing through the file each time is killing me.

I don't have access to a db to sore the data... hence a text file. Any
suggestions on a better way to store the data/file so that it will be faster
to parse through?

It is in a format like:

id, info, name, company
id, info, name, company
id, info, name, company
id, info, name, company

so I get the line, use the delimited list ... maybe an array? Anything???

In the registry at

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Allaire\Studio45\Projects\RecentProjects\

I think if you delete one out the middle, none of them show (could be
wrong). In the past I just deleted Project0 through ProjectWhatever and
restarted Studio. You have to open the project files for the ones that are
still valid, though.

RE: Credit Card Processing

2001-02-12 Thread Jason Egan

Processing cards is a two step process... you can do one right after the
other, but you often save quite a bit of cash by authorizing (real-time) at
time of purchase, then once or twice a day (depending on load) you will
process the authorized cc transactions as a batch... that is when you
actually receive the money.

This is how we do it anyhow...

Hello all,

Quick question, for those who process credit cards over the internet,
do you process real-time, or capture the cc info and process
at a later time?

I am weighing pros and cons of either methods, and wanting the general
consensus of this list.

Thanks.

RE: hal's wireframe

2001-02-07 Thread Jason Egan

ok, so then - not wanting to do any 'coding' because you're using html
programmers, not cf programmers, don't you need some amount of cf to
navigate thought the application with fuseactions, xfa's etc? so it is a
'wire frame' in cfm, not htm - with graphics, functionality (simulated),
navigation... and devnotes for the customers input.

That's right. The wireframe's purpose is just to get us to the point where
we can do a prototype. Once we're into the prototype phase, the wireframe
isn't used anymore. BTW, if anyone wants the wireframe code, you can get it

There is a batch file right in CFusion/Bin, cycle.bat, that when you
click it will set a a daily schedule to stop and restart all 3
services at 2 AM. My server is EST, so I changed it to 4AM before I
ran it. You can open it directly from WordPad and edit the times at

Allaire handlers

I was reading an article on cfqueryparam on the Allaire site some time ago.
I am trying to find it again, but Allaire is hiding it. It was under the

little 'helper' articles that have been written... a search on the site
results in zip... well... technical documents are found, but not helpers...
like this one was written by someone other that an Allaire 'staffer', and he
gave several tips in the article, one of them being how he uses
cfqueryparam...

You just said the magic word -- combining Fusebox with CFObjects. Ralph and
I are working on that right now. Still, Dave's argument is a very good one:
if you want to use OO as a methodology, why not use a language like Java
that supports it inherently.

aw hell even i can answer that Hal, from what i understand of cfobjects ,
its the only methodology that makes truly modular parts to your
applications.
In fusebox its just written in a modular way, cfobjects contains the whole
thing in its own little world, which to me is what i call real modular
framework, it also makes reusability even easier i think.
i suspect the best would be somewhere in between fusebox and cfobjects

cfschedule problems

2000-12-29 Thread Jason Egan

I hate to beat a dead horse, but I am confused here...

I have 5 sun boxes... all set up the same (as far as I can tell)... I can
run a template directly by URL in the browser and using schedule in the
admin on pre-production boxes... np, but when I use the same scheduled
process on the production server I get "connection failure" in my output
file.

The only real difference between the boxes is the location of the cfide
directory... it is different on the production boxes than the other four
boxes.? don't know why...

Anyhow, I'm stumped... even when running the process on the production box
directly from a browser it works fine...???

any suggestions?

sun cfserver troubles

2000-12-15 Thread Jason Egan

I am running cf 4.5 on sun os 5.7... everything seems to be running fine
until I access a particular page... it uses cffile, cfdirectory, and other
display tags... nothing big... quite simple actually... I've deleted the
file and cut the code back into it thinking that the file may be corrupt...
same.

this is what is happening:
- site appears normal on all other pages through cfstudio and RDS
- web appears normal in application
- upon viewing the form with a browser then studio doesn't save changes to
the server any longer, and if I try to open the project again I get errors.
- when trying to stop the server I get 'INFO: cfexec is not running.', when
I try to start it I get 'ERROR: Unable to start the ColdFusion processes.
Cause: The ColdFusion registry does not appear to be initialized.
You can execute the following command to initialize the registry:
cfexec -install -docroot -register -user '

obviously there is some strange problem going on here... any ideas? By the
way, how do I know what the register is? If I issue the above command
(w/o register, everything works fine until I view that page with the browser
again??? what on earth could it be??

If i understand your question right (you'll have to excuse me for not
knowing the english terms for stuff like interests) you're looking for
something like this

Balance on your account after n years = deposit x * (1 + r %) ^ n

F.ex

deposit $10,000 on december 31st at 6 % apr will accumulate to $12,624.77 if
you leave it for 4 years

10,000 * (1.06)^4 = 12,624.77

LDAP constraints

I'm using LDAP for a login process. like a query where I can restrict with
a where clause, I would like to do the same thing with LDAP. so that only
one record is returned where the un and pw match exactly.

I've tried using the filter attribute, but I either get one or the other, or
both.

filter="(cn=jegan)(userpassword=bixby)"

this gives me both.

to test I have two users with the same user name but different passwords.

Any suggestions? I'm sure there has to be a query language of some sort we
can use with cf's LDAP code... like the search language with verity?

Yes it would be useful to know a bit of Java, but I would not go as far to
say beneficial. What Jeremy Allaire said in his speech to the UKCFUG last
week is that we (CF programmers) will not need to know Java to use Neo (the
Java based CF server as opposed to CF5 which will still be CF based). The
advantage of Neo is that it compiles the CFML pages into Java Bytecode and
then runs the bytecode - the pages are quicker than the C++ CF5 version
which uses Just In Time Compilation (after compilation which can take a
while!).

As far as "flavor" (or flavour if we are using proper spelling) of Java
goes, just make sure it's the Sun version of Java (http://java.sun.com) and
not some M$ or other version that doesn't comply to the J2EE standard. I do
not see it as important that you should know Java though. CF5 and Neo will
have CF custom functions which will make everyone's life a lot easier.

RE: Application.cfm

No, I don't believe so - custom tags - called by cf_ or cfmodule are run on
a separate thread, so they aren't aware of application variables (like #dsn#
for your datasource).

The datasource is usually what I ran into trouble with, so I passed it as an
attribute:

Then attributes.userid and attributes.dsn would be available to me in my tag
test.cfm.

hope this helps.

Would application variables be available to a module (i.e. a template called

My problem is I set a variable called datasource equal to my DSN name. I
attempt to reference #datasource# and even #application.datasource# in my

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

UML is designed with object orientated software in mind, is it not?
CF is most definitely not OO
You could try it in combination with the CFOBJECTS coding standard, which
purports to make CF OO compliant.

happen for other reasons you probably won't experience while using the

Tonight I had a problem with viewing a grid for the first time. I've read
on this list that sometimes the grid isn't stable. So I'm wondering if
that's the problem. The symptop is that the grid comes up. It appears to
be blank, it's all just grey, no columns, rows, etc. But if you click
somewhere within the grid, the data in that cell appears. (The grid mode is
EDIT.) But only that cell appears. When you click on a different area,
that cell appears and the other disappears. Help!

Can someone tell me why this would happen? TIA.

RE: CF_GRID question

2000-11-16 Thread Jason Egan

There isn't a way to require information as you would with other form types
in a cf grid - as far as I know... and as far as pre-filling the grid... you
can populate the grid, say with a list (from a query or what have you) by
using cfgridrow.

I recently did something similar... the first time the user entered the form
with the grid it was blank, then on the next page the values of the form
were stored in a WDDX packet... then when they went back to the form with
the cfgrid I used cfgridrow to populate the grid with their previous
entries.

good luck!

A little more than "Here's how you create the COM object" would be nice...

I really wanted a list of commands available via the COM object, unless the
basic VB commands work, in which case I'll have to go and find a decent
Excel VBScript book

I know I can use Record Macro, but it'd be nice to have a hard-copy

hpux - process

2000-10-14 Thread Jason Egan

I have an hpux box - we're currently running the beta version (final beta).

when we start the box we have 7 process running... within about 6 minutes or
so we have 2 more... then 1 more follows within 10 minutes or so that is
10 processes. We've been working with this box for quite a few weeks...
never having a problem, but last night about 12:30 cf stopped responding.
We restarted the services and all was fine... there were then about 30
processes running then... within 9 hours the cf server stopped responding
again... this time at 22 or so processes...

We really weren't doing much to the box -- other than simple queries and rds
with cf studio... we are using quite a few cached queries, but that
wouldn't do that... I can't think of anything that would cause this, other
than beta software, or some obscure setting... We're running a recent
version of apache and hpux 11

Thanks for any help,
Jason Egan

integrating multiple fusebox applications

2000-10-01 Thread Jason Egan

Ok - this part of fusebox eludes me somewhat. I have an application I'm
trying to write - there are several parts, standard stuff - task list,
contact management, resource management, reminders, etc. Writing this all
as one app is one thing, but I thought to myself, why? I want to create
them as components so I can just 'plug' them in another application later -
HENCE FUSEBOX - that's one of its strong points right?

It seems to me that what I need them to do is too integrated with the other
components... for example, the task list isn't supposed to be a separate
application that you 'link' to, but integrated so that you can add tasks to
users, groups, projects, contacts... etc. Accessing the task list from
anywhere... to me it would be more like a custom tag. I've read about it in
the fusebox document, but it doesn't make sense... perhaps I'm thinking
about it too hard?

Any applications out there that do something like this that I can take a
look at? Will the formurl2attribute tag help here?

Thank you,
Jason

RE: More elegant way of passing URL variables?

2000-08-11 Thread Jason Egan

I'm assuming that you're having some type of summary list to select from
that takes you to the details page (or something like that)...
I've had the same issue, I have done some weird things to keep this all in a
single form and evaluate the numerous form fields passed to come up with the
one id that actually was selected. Another way that is a little simpler, is
to create a form for each of the rows in your summary list... you would just
have the complete form information with the hidden form field assigned the
userid in each form.

that would make for a lot of forms potentially (I've limited my display to
10 records with a next/previous setup) - a heavier document, but it works.

just an idea...

Subject: More elegant way of passing URL variables?

Hi,
I am dynamically generating a list of customers, on which a user can click
to go to a detailed page. To do this, I am putting the customerID into a URL
variable in the A HREF path. But the client doesn't want to see the value in
the address bar, as they consider it a security risk.

What would be a better solution? A hidden FORM field for each item, and have
the HREF call Javascript which posts the form? The problem with that us I
will get all of the form fields in the detail page, unless the JS passes a
value to indicate the field I want, but hen I essentially have the same
problem

Any input appreciated.

Why bother even setting it up to be dynamic. You should only have
one main repository for client variables and if you don't it's pointless.
And if you do for some reasons want to change the name just do a massive
search and replace on clientstorage="whatever".

RE: lame client variable question

that is a variable set earlier that is the datasource name - previously set
to 'fleet' - if it was invalid I would think that I would get an error, not
a never ending client variable...

Wow, that's ugly. You don't even need to do the refresh, just view the
source of the page and it is right there. It only seems to work if you know
the directory where application.cfm exists. If you are operating with a
single application.cfm you can move it up one directory, outside of the web
root, and it doesn't work. It also doesn't appear to work with other .cfm
files.

Don't use application.cfm - use app_globals.cfm. :)

Hi all,

One of my hosting clients has just made me aware of this major security
problem and I'm wondering if anyone knows how to eliminate it?

Try calling the application.cfm template on any CF site with +.htr appended
to the end of the url. You'll first see a blank page. Now hit refresh/reload
and you'll see the full code of said application.cfm

e.g. http://www.support.alllaire.com/application.cfm+.htr

Can someone please tell me there is a patch for this. It seems to happen on
all CFserver versions 4.x + running IS4.0 with Service pack 5

I have a client that needs cf to talk to oracle -- np, but they already have
their applications (network apps) talking to the oracle server via weblogic

cfpop error

2000-07-12 Thread Jason Egan

I am trying to download mail using cfpop... there are currently about 130
emails in the account, when I try retrieving all mail I get the following
error:

unknown exception condition
CFMLInterpreterImp::executePCode

If I only get 48 it works, 49 it doesn't... if I get 49 only it works fine
as well.

If I only get the headers (to count how many are there), then loop over
cfpop to get say 20 at a time I get the error. Even if I delete them once
I've retrieved them I get the error.

I would like to download the mail, take out what I need, then delete the
mail... but I keep getting that error.

Any suggestions?

Just to be sure. Have you tried the CFX_ReadLine (0.0)? I use with with

Hi Paul,

Thanks. That works fine. None of my 4 books on HTML show "Font" or "Font
Size" as an attribute anywhere in Table or TR or TD.

Is there a way of specifying FONT SIZE in CFTable also? That would be great.
I can't find it in the CF manuals, Ben Forta's books or one by Sybex? The
advantage of CFTable is that I can use the WIDTH attribute to reduce the
length of a very long field; not available in TABLE - as far as I know. But
still the default font size of CFTable is just a little too large. I'm now
using CFGrid instead because it defaults to a smaller font. But that seems
like overkill. TIA.

Paige

RE: reading text files

2000-06-30 Thread Jason Egan

That is a good idea, but there will be 3 separate files from 150mb - 300mb
each that will need to be processed each day. Each record will have to be
updated/inserted/deleted from the db. So I'm trying for total automation
from the ftp retrieval to the complete db comparison.

:-(

It is becoming a vendetta!

Does it have to be fast? You could use VBA in Excel to read the file in
which would allow you to separate it to multiple sheets (without cutting up
the text file itself) for later import into Access or SQL. Or even VBA in
Access I suppose to read the file and do inserts. The VBA into Excel
wouldn't be too slow (we're counting in minutes though, not seconds or
milliseconds!), and then you could possibly automate the import into Excel
at the same time. Pretty much anything you can do manually in the Office
apps can be automated with VBA . . . sometimes they just need to be started
before heading for home . . . :)

reading text files

2000-06-30 Thread Jason Egan

I have a rather large text file (145mb) that I need to read into a dB.

The part I'm having trouble with is the READING of the file part. I am
using a line by line tag from the dev site to read in say 1000 lines at a
time, but some times it bombs at line 500... then I'll run it again and it
works, then I run it again and it bombs at 532 or something like that... I
examine the lines and they are properly formatted, I've even taken out the
inserts and I still receive the errors when only reading the files in... any
ideas why?

Is it the file size?

thanks,

Try:
SELECT Name
FROM MSysObjects
WHERE Type = 1

That'll get you all tables. If you want to exclude all of the system
tables, one of the following added to the WHERE clause should do it.

AND Name Not Like 'MSys%'
- -- OR --
AND Flags = 0

I'm not entirely sure about the Flags thing. In the DB I'm looking
at, all system tables have non-zero flags & all non-system tables
have zero flags. YMMV...

BTW, if you want to see these in access, go into the options and
check Show Hidden & Show System. They're both under the View tab in
AC2k. I don't know if it's in the same place in other versions.

Hope that helps.

Best regards,
Zac Bedell

creating tables

2000-06-22 Thread Jason Egan

I don’t create tables with sql often enough – are there any good tutorials
around?

I think my biggest problems is getting the datatypes correct when specifying
the create or modify table commands…

???

thanks…

RE: com object

2000-06-21 Thread Jason Egan

I thought I had seen here or elsewhere that cfexecute wasn't secure or
stable.. can't remember... but I would like the contents to be in a variable
rather than a file so that I won't have to go to the disk... but perhaps it
will be a temporary solution.

Have you heard anything negative about the tag?

Excuse any dups -

I have a JAVA application that works great from a dos prompt, but I need the
same (virtually) functionality written to a COM object --- I have the open
source available if it will help someone to write the COM object. Is there
anyone out there that can, or knows someone else that would be able to write
this COM object for me? Please contact me offlist to receive the code
and/or inquire of more detail.

Basically the JAVA app reads a file, and streams the information over an IP
address, receives a reply, and writes it to a file. I want basically the
same thing, except in variables rather than Files. The file information is
plain text.

Thank you,

RE: Easy way to get a random record

2000-06-15 Thread Jason Egan

How about this:

run the query,
use randrange(1, query.recordcount)
then you can do just about anything to get that record number - no matter
what the unique ID is...

ie:

#query.firstname[RN]#

That would display the first name of the randomly selected record...

Subject: Easy way to get a random record

Is there an easy way to pick a random record from a database. I have a
unique ID for each record, but it is not strictly sequential because of
record deletions.

Here is my thought:

1. Run a query and get the MAX and MIN IDs.
2. Do a loop using them as the beginning and ending range and generate a
random
number between them.
3. See if that number exists in the ID field of the db.
4. If yes, get the record, if not, try again.
5. Do this until you get a hit.
6. Alternatively I guess you could gen a random number and take the next
higher
number unless it is the highest number.

That seems way to intensive and I know there must be a cleaner way. The
programmers must know a good way to do this.

Any thoughts or SQL code would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

java to c or vb

2000-06-12 Thread Jason Egan

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

I’ve got a java program that I need re-written in c or vb --- the java
application works fine, but I can’t seem to figure out how to make the java
class file work as a cfx – I have the un-compiled code for the java program.
If anyone can help me figure out how to get this java class to work as a
cfx, or if someone knows java and another language (c/vb/Delphi) – and would
be interested in re-writing it, please let me know.

I tried figuring out the java cfx, but I did something wrong and cf wouldn’t
start any more… so I had to reinstall the server…

Thanks for any help…

java cfx

2000-06-08 Thread Jason Egan

I need some assistance getting a java cfx to work ---

Or if there is anyone out there that can write a c version of the java
program I have (code can be provided) – then I’m willing to go that route…

Anyone??

Thanks!

compacting access db

2000-06-07 Thread Jason Egan

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

--=_NextPart_000__01BFCF07.40198C00
Content-Type: text/plain;
charset="iso-8859-1"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit

I have an access db that seems to be growing exponentially – frequent
changes are made to it… if I manually compress it the file size is
dramatically reduced, but I would like to automate this feature somehow… any
ideas?

I’m going through the db (not my design) to reduce un-necessary field size
etc, but at one point (after 2,800 record imports from a text file) the db
was over 800mb… ouch… 4mb after using the built in compacting feature.

Thanks for any pointers…
je

RE: Someone reply to me off list

2000-06-06 Thread Jason Egan

I did get a fair amount this morning, then a little later on ,... but mostly
it has just dripped in... pretty sad... I don't mean any disrespect to the
list, but I think I might set up another list server for us to use? What you
think?

Actually my favorite is dreamweaver also, but I haven't messed with for
quite a while, I'm too busy with studio... but our designers use FP 2k and
dreamweaver.

HomeSite is a great html text editor, but it's not so hot at WYSIWYN (which
might be what you are looking for-- most so-called WYSIWYG editors are
really WYSIWYN, like FrontPage). The only editor that I'm aware of that
would be a true WYSIWYG editor is NetObjects Fusion, but I have personally
never used it. From what I understand, it is true drag and drop: you drop
the images in the part of the page where you want the images to go and it
builds the necessary code to make the images go there. I have not seen what
this code looks like though. DreamWeaver is a really good editor. It has a
nice balance between text editing and design interface. It is probably not
as dummy-proof as FrontPage, but FrontPage is evil. We use DreamWeaver for
our html design editor and then the pages are handed off to the developers
who work in text editors. DreamWeaver seldom (if ever) breaks CFML, which
is very good for you.

You know, this is probably been posted 1 million times, but the list has
been down for two days… or I’m not getting any email from it… either way,
will someone email me directly if the list is still up and I’ve been
unsubscribed?

Thanks!

I’ve seen mentioned earlier on the list using MS Office products as COM
objects == can anyone point me towards more information on this? Is it
server extensions only available in 2k?

Thanks,

open window (JS)

2000-05-31 Thread Jason Egan

I am trying to open a image preview window – I’ve used fusebox to the best
of my ability. I am also using a ‘/’ for url parameters rather than ‘? & =’
.

I have a url as such: admin/index.cfm/fuseaction/properties/propid/CB1

This page contains a link to open a window – the window opens and displays
correctly, but the link has to point somewhere, so I put the same url as the
href=”index.cfm/fuseaction/properties/propid/CB1” – reloading the page is
probably unnecessary. If I use #’s in the href like you normally would then
the page displayed is like have a url of: admin/index.cfm.

Any pointers on how I can open the window and not reload the page?

Thanks,

Hi -

I need to replace the crlf characters with the tag so that line =
breaks people enter while editing database content show up when they are =
displayed. I found a custom tag that will do this, but I'd like to =
avoid calling it multiple times on the same page?

Doing this should be possible with the replace function (or so I think), =
but I'm not sure how to go about it. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Jay
