Uh yeah I should never write CFML directly into Outlook. ;-)

You goofed tho... Asside from the spaces in #qData. PTITLE # for

2002-09-30 Thread Rebecca _Becky_ Brewer

Hi all,

I'm having this fun problem with a CFGRAPH tag in CF 5 that's driving
me a bit crazy this morning. My code is calculating the sales average
for the users' state vs. the national sales average for the same time
period, and assigning these to local variables named #salesAvg# and #allSalesAvg#.

The problem is that the values displayed in my CFGRAPH image (using the
Flash format) and on the actual page do not match for the #allSalesAvg#
value. The graph is showing 78.26 (which is incorrect), but the text
label I have further down on the page is showing 78.27 (which is the
correct value).

Has anyone had any similar problems with the accuracy of the CFGRAPH
tag? Any decent solutions to this, or am I better off hard-coding the
value for the national sales until we move up to CFMX and CFCHART-ing?

TIA,
Becky

2002-06-26 Thread Phillip Cave

Hello everyone, I'm wondering how I would represent the following case in a database.

I have a general content class that contains generic information about a piece of
content. I then have more specific classes such as document (which will inherit the
content class). How would I go about relating the two in the physical database? So far
classes look like so:

--
content
--
-contentID
| -title
-dateAdded
-etc...

+add(s)
+etc...

--

--
document
--
-documentID
-fileName
-fileSize
-etc...

+upload(s)
+etc...

--

How do I represent the 'document' is a 'content' relationship in the DB? Would the
content class contain the ID of the more specific class (ID of the document)?

And please excuse me if my ASCII art isn't up to par :)

Thanks,

Phillip

2002-05-10 Thread Dave Babbitt

Hi Guys!

How do I turn a CFQUERY record set that CFDUMPs like this:

DIVISION

PROGRAM_NAME

 Team Bear Street
Team
Clipboard Solutions
Team Emerson Associates Team
Lake Avenue
Team Smithfield road

Cambridge Health Alliance The Beck
Ward North East The Oliver Street
House

into something like this:

Team
Cambridge Health Alliance
North East

Bear Street
Clipboard Solutions
Emerson Associates
Lake Avenue
Smithfield road
The Beck Ward
The Oliver Street House

I left the COLSPANs in there as a possible help to solving the general
problem. I suspect there is a more eloquent solution than performing two or
three subqueries, though. :-)

Thanx

Dave

does anybody know of any custom tags that will tell you the dimensions of an

i found one on the allaire developer exchange but it doesnt seem to work
properly for the jpegs i have tried it on.
i think the name of the one i tried was "imageinfo" by fuseware. but when i
try it on my images then it just returns blank strings for "width" and
"height", and it is reporting the "type" as "8" which is odd.

thanks in advance.

The images are in-line using the standard HTML image tag. I have never used
this tag but am wondering if cfimpersonate would work to give the
username/password?

Are you sending a link to the image, or are you attaching the image to
the
e-mail?

If you are sending an html e-mail with an image tag that references an
image
sitting on a password protected site, that is probably the problem.

I'm grasping for straws, since I'm not a Notes Administrator, but I
thought
that Notes turned all embedded objects into attachments. Are the images
attached to the e-mail, as opposed to inline?

2000-11-29 Thread Seamus Campbell

I just sent a help message below.
I think I've done a really stupid, stupid thing.
I increased the template cache size to 30720 and ticked the trusted cache
checkbox.
I now realize that I only have 64 MB ram on the server the holds CF Server,
so I'm presuming it just doesn't have enough memory to have this size cache.
But I can't get into administrator to undo my cache changes.

Does anyone know of a way to change cache size without going thru
administrator

Help an idiot please
Seamus

Anyone help?
I've just got this error below
I can't see any services that are not running
And certainly Apache, CF application server, CF RDS, and CF Executive are
all running
Any clues anyone?

I'm trying to create a table in Access via CF. I need to create an

would have to upload a 60 meg DB to our offsite server. Any suggestions for
the SQL Statement?

create table T_AddBook (

2000-11-08 Thread Eron Cohen

Hi Guy,

You can do table alteration via SQL.

I refer you to the following resource which describes
"Jet SQL" and amoung other things how to create/alter
tables via SQL:

http://www.citilink.com/~jgarrick/vbasic/database/jetsql.html#ddl

I do have a few other suggestions for you.

1) Get them to use SQL Server (you can access a SQL
Server database remotely, and make changes to it, and
it will not even take down the site while you're
making changes). This is going to be difficult with
your $0 budget though.

2) Sometimes you can "break the lock" that's on the
SQL database by doing a query with a non-existant
field name in it. This will cause ColdFusion/ODBC to
throw an error and for some reason break the lock on
the database. This would let you upload a new
database (but you still have the synchronization
problems to contend with)

3) Move to a hosting provider like EDGEWEBHOSTING.COM
that gives you utilities to start and stop coldFusion
yourself AND to add Datasources yourself (I don't
think this company charges for that at all and they
have very competitive rates)

Hope something here helps you out.

Subject: Remote DB Alteration

Hello CF'ers

Situation:
Database and sites hosted externally, site created
internally.
Currently if any changes to the datasource's structure
are made they
are made locally and then uploaded to the host, who
has to shut off
the CFServer and restart it. This requires scheduling
a time and is
unacceptable. Also, the uploaded datasource may
corrupt/overwrite the
data as it is not up to date. Employer will not spring
for extra
datasources to be hosted. ( multiple applications and
domains, one
datasource, yay! ;) )

Goal:
To be able to add tables to the datasource without
scheduling a
shutdown and uploading entire datasource.

Resources:
MS Access 97
CF 4.5
CuteFTP
Budget =$0

Is this possible? Please direct me to resources that
will show me how.

Also, anyone know what the 20 or so CFML tags
supported by CFExpress
are?

2000-10-30 Thread Michael Wilson

Hello again,

Sorry for posting with no subject.. it sliped by me.

Hi,

What I have is a list of items split into 5 categories. What I need is to be
able to create 5 separate navigation links to point to pages that list these
items. Should I create 5 different CF Templates using the Where x=x clause
and have my links point to the appropriate template or is there a (more
efficient) way to create a single template that will know which category to
return based on a URL variable or something?

I am still new to all this so thanks for your time,

Mike

Hi,

I am looking for a top notch reliable cf hosting service

I was originally with intermedia and then left due to slow response time and
many posts on here speaking negatively of their service

>From there I moved to interland and found their service and response time
far too slow in my opinion

I an currently with logicworld and have experienced on 2 occasions in 4 days
the server being down

So I would like some suggestions on a top quality reliable and fast cf
hosting service that has a proven track record handling very highly
trafficked and medium sized cf application

your comments would be appreciated

Hello all...

This is message i recently posted on the CF_SERVER list last week; Since i haven't
gotten any satisfying reply yet - actually, i haven't gotten any - i posting it here,
hoping to be more successful.

Are there any know issues with CFHTTP Post on a port number different from 80? I'm
using
CF 4.5.1, and can not get CFHTTP Post to work: I'm trying to "submit" a form to an
email client that listens on port 8123 (see code below)
Sometimes i get a "connection failure" message, or the script just hangs, eventually
causing the server to crash.

Thanks,

Patrick N.

2000-09-24 Thread Jim McAtee

Can't figure out why the following query behaves like it does, but
I'm guessing there must be something fundamental about how SQL
operates that I'm not comprehending.

I've got a one:many relationship between table A and table B. Table
B records represent "new for year" for a given record in
table A. For example, there can be 0 or 1 "new for 2000" record in
table B for one record in table A. I've got about 650 records in
table A, with 593 of them with a status of 'ACTIVE'. In table B,
there are about 1000 records, and exactly 89 are for the year 2000.

Table A:
areacode varchar(5)
status varchar(10)
...

Table B:
areacode varchar(5)
year smallint
new varchar(255)

I want to return all of the records in A, along with the "news" for
the year 2000, from table B. I should get 593 records. Since table
B only has year 2000 records for 89 of the records in table A, I
think I need to do a left outer join.

SELECT A.*, B.new
FROM A LEFT JOIN B ON A.areacode = B.areacode
WHERE A.status = 'ACTIVE'
 AND B.year = 2000

I get only 89 records returned, and the query appears to behave
exactly like an an inner join. I suspect it has something to do
with my WHERE clause that defines conditions on both of the tables,
but I can't see another way to do this.

Thanks for any assistance,
Jim

2000-09-07 Thread Powers, Bonnie

I have a question about Cookies and SSL on Netscape.

I have almost finished my shopping cart, but when my users were testing,
there was a problem. It seems that Netscape won't allow pages on the SSL
part of the server to use the Cookies generated by the non-SSL section of
the server. Everything works OK in IE.

Directory structure

webroot
racbp(beginning of shopping cart)
 1.cfm
 2.cfm
 3.cfm
 ...
 application.cfm(writes two cookies Customer_ID and Order_ID)

secure
 racbp(secure section of shoppingcart)
 4.cfm
 5.cfm
 6.cfm

1. I thouhgt that I could just move the application.cfm to the webroot
directory, but then what do i do when I need to write another application
that would have the same problem

2. I could put the entire shopping cart app in the SSL folder

3. I could pass the Cookies as variables from page 3.cfm to page 4.cfm anf
have page 4 write cookies from the SSl server. Then I will have to identical
sets of cookie and I will have to delete them twice.

4. Every CF developer must have the same problem and there must be an
industry standard fix... but I don't know what it is which is why I am
contacting you.

Any help would be much appreciated,
Bonnie

Gotta question for all.

I want to find the position of the last occurence of / in a string and =
save it to a variable so here is what I am doing.

I have two problems. It doesn't like the / so I am assuming I need an =
escape charachter which I can't find. The second is I want to start =
from the end and work my way back. It looks like Find and FindNoCase =
all only go from left to right and i want to go right to left.

Thanks,

Kevin Schmidt

2000-06-20 Thread Caulfield, Michael

While using standard code to upload files to the server, I am receiving the
following message:

The form field specified in the CFFILE tag (FILE) does not contain an
uploaded file. Please be sure that you have specified the correct form field
name.

I have tried stripping down the upload code to its essentials, even copying
in a Forta example, but still the same message.

The code was originally working, and just suddenly started to give me the
error message. We are using 4.5.1 on an NT server, with IE 5.0/5.5 as
clients.

Any ideas/workarounds?

Michael Caulfield.

2000-06-17 Thread Leong Yew

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if anyone could help me out with a problem I'm having with CFLOCATION.
On one CF template I'm trying to do two things. The first is to use javascript to open
a new window. The second is to redirect the parent window to a different (non CF) page
using CFLOCATION.

The problem is on that CF template I first use cfoutput to output the javascript code
and then use CFLOCATION. CF seems to ignore what's nested in the cfoutput tag and it
immediately redirects to the other page. The reason why I'm using CFLOCATION rather
than javascript is that the redirect URL contains form elements and I don't want that
to show on the client's browser.

Can anyone suggest an alternative to the following code?

Thanks.

Leong

===here's the code===
a.win=window.open("http://www.domain.com/a.cfm?username=#form.username#);

hi,
Any ideas on CFs relation to the SQL ODBC ??
Because for some time now I've been getting this Error 37000, not enough memory
to complete query.
So, I log on to the SQL server, and apparently I can access all of the
tables in the
Database barring two or three. I can query most of them ...but there two or
three that, when
I'm querying, gives me an out of memory error.

My only solution is to reset the SQL server.

values into tables) so i used 2 nd code to implement to my aim. and here one
problem is raising for me that i donno whether perticular field is numeric

condition. (see here in 1 st code, #form.txta1 is numeric and rest of the
fields are character types).
how can i check the condition. because if it is character type then i have
to specify the variable's value with in the single quotes and vice versa for
if it is numeric.
i am sure that my 2 nd code won't execute right now.
and can i specify the loop in the insert command?( i am not sure whether it

William,
Thankyou very much. Very good solution. Could you please tell me how to read
data from this array?
Regards,
Ajoy

More detailed approach for a one-dimensional array using your example...

select ssn, firstName, lastName
from employee

structEmpData=StructNew();
StructInsert(structEmpData, "strExtCriteriaID_local", "#getEmployee.ssn#");
StructInsert(structEmpData, "strEmpData_firstname_local",
"#getEmployee.firstName#");
StructInsert(structEmpData, "strEmpData_lastname_local",
"#getEmployee.lastName#");
#ArrayAppend(arrayofEmpData, structEmpData)#;

Hi all,
How do we create Array of Structures in ColdFusion? As an example I have a

structures. How do you populate data and how can we retrieve it?
Example Query:

select ssn, firstName, lastName from employee

CFHTTP does allow you to execute an HTTP POST request and upload a file from
the CF server to a remote server.

You are correct in saying that this is the only way within CF to process
files uploaded from a user's browser to your CF server.

With CFHTTP aren't you really downloading a file from another server
(specified by the required URL parameter).

The original poster wanted to upload a file from his local computer
file system with an form field.

AFAIK, the only way to do this is with CFFILE.

Many CF hosts disable this tag because of security issues.

I don't believe you can do an upload with cfhttp. You'll need to use cffile.

I may be wrong. Someone please correct me if so.
