Not sure about the rest of it, but I'll support more prominent cf
resources. :) It's not like there's a lack of material for the
category -- there's 74 titles if you search and they show 10 per page,
so ... wouldn't that be like nearly 10 pages of results like the other
subcategories there like ASP and JSP?

With the sheer amount of money I funnel into Jeff Bezos' Amateur Pilot
Tuition Fund, hopefully my words will carry some weight.  Any site where
I can buy a Gorilla Biscuits CD, Clie stylus refills, discontinued
Dreamcast games and a hardcover copy of "Coraline" in one session *and*
have them delivered in two days is worth trying to improve with a little
more prominent ColdFusion resources :)

They definately don't belong there... It's funny, I've never seen them
anywhere but in the programming section next to C++ ... (Not popular
enough to be on the end-cap next to XML for Dummies I guess.) But then
it's been a little while since I've seriously been in a book store

Though I do think we should complain to Amazon.com for not having a
ColdFusion section on this page:

The consensus was that more people would search for "ColdFusion" than
"CFML", hence the former would result in a more successful newsgroup.
(CFML does of course stand for ColdFusion Markup Language.) There was
some debate on which subhierarchy to place it under, and comp.lang.*
seemed as good as any of the other possible places, IMHO -- see the full
RFD thread for how this decision came about. The organisation of Usenet
newsgroups has never been a precise science. :o)

I'm a big proponent of alt.comp.lang.coldfusion - but having a "real"
comp group has many advantages - not the least of which is simple
legitimacy of ColdFusion as a main-hierarchy-worthy tool.

That doesn't make much sense. ColdFusion is a product name; not a
language. Oh, and BTW, it is trademarked. CFML on the other hand is a
language, is not trademarked, and most importantly is implemented by
two difference products, ColdFusion and BlueDragon.

Hi Jesse,

Yes, I'm a poster on alt.comp.lang.coldfusion, and in fact
alt.comp.lang.coldfusion is where the idea originally came up. Our hope
is that comp.lang.coldfusion, if created, will build on the success of
the alt.* group. By virtue of it being a "Big Eight" group it will be
accessible to more people, and posts made to the group will have a
longer retention period.

Thanks,

Dave
