[cfaussie] Re: URGENT - Coldfusion Developer required to start early June

2007-05-14 Thread clemo

Just some additional information that I forgot to specify. This role
is actually based in Sydney - close to the CBD. Apologies for all the
applicants so far for which this location will not work - I will be
contacting each person who sends their details through individually.

 Hi All,

I know it is inappropriate to advertise jobs here, however, my client

roles. They are a small closely knit web consulting firm specialising
in Coldfusion and they have recently won a massive project for which
they need 2 more sets of hands on deck for as well as other upcoming
 work.

Due to the urgent nature of the situation, they are able to look at
junior and senior developers with the right sort of background in web-
 related programming.

You need to have experience or exposure to:
 - Coldfusion MX 6.1 or 7 (ideally the later), seniors will have 3-4
years of experience, juniors will have 1-2 years
 - HTML, DHTML, CSS, MS SQL Server (past experience with PHP, ASP)
 - Content Management experience
 - Have excellent communication skills, ideally with some exposure in a
client facing role or as a freelancer
 - Have business development experience, again someone who may have
 worked as a freelancer

Ideally, you will be available to start in early June (available on
 3-4 weeks notice).

The salary will vary from 40k to 70k base (negotiable) based on
 experience.

Please send your details to Clement at [EMAIL PROTECTED] and call on

[cfaussie] Re: onSessionEnd Error

2007-05-14 Thread Peter Tilbrook

Why do you fellas over complicate things?

I mean thing about it? OnRequestEnd? OnSessionEnd?

The only to really end a session with CF is to use J2EE sessions.
Browser is closed - session is ended. Of course depending on how you
code your app this may not bet the case.

My host no longer allows J2EE sessions so true session management is
screwed by bad server management. Out of my control. It shits me but
badder things have happened.

So why no J2EE support? Apparently my good code has to be back
pedalled so the bad code that does not handle sessions correctly.
And the bad code is the crash server type code so go figure.

NB this is only CF with J2EE (MX 6.x+).

[cfaussie] Re: onSessionEnd Error

2007-05-14 Thread Andrew Scott
lol...

I think you will find that the onSessionEnd, when an excpetion is thown the
onError event will fire again.

I would be asking the question, why is it erroring in there. Eveything seems
to be around a cftry block, could be a bug within the application.cfc. I
mean would it be possible that the cfry is useless in there if it has been
fired once already? Or would it be something like, the server is checking
the application and session scopes and is throwing and exception and
is getting ignored is the cftry statemenst?

You can not reference the application
 scope from inside OnsessionEnd.

Yes because by the time OnSessionEnd (or OnSessionEnd.cfm) everything
has finished.

Application.cfm (fired first - before any other template) -
OnRequestEnd.cfm (fired right at the end).

Get your hear around that before you try the CFC based handling of
what CF has done since at least version 3.x.

Andrew.. you might be right - bringing me back to my original point;

1. remove OnError.
2. try/catch/dump/email in the OnSessionEnd method for debugging purposes
and to hopefully end the 'over complication'.

Peter, sessions end (j2ee or not) when they 'expire' too. This is when the
on OnSessionEnd and maybe OnError event is fired, no?

[cfaussie] Re: onSessionEnd Error

2007-05-14 Thread Andrew Scott
Peter,

You are only half right, only persistant variables no longer exist the
application is not finished to its finished. Meaning an event can still be
fired within, you have to remember that these are event methods, which fire
when one of the conditions is met So if any Event is running, it can cause
another event and if that is an error then it will throw the event onError.

[cfaussie] Re: onSessionEnd Error

Okay let's try to help him out then. Please bear with me.. here goes.

Observe the following code (which I just wrote and tested). Make an
Appication.cfc with ONLY this code;

cfset this.name = ApplicationName
cfset this.sessionManagement = true
cfset this.sessionTimeout = createTimeSpan(0,0,0,1)

cffunction name=onSessionEnd returnType=void output=false
cfargument name=sessionScope type=struct required=true
cfargument name=appScope type=struct required=false
cflog text=session ended /
cfthrow message=somethingnasty
/cffunction
/cfcomponent

The behaviour is session ended is logged. The thrown error goes no where.

Then add OnError as follows;

cffunction name=onError returnType=void output=false
cfargument name=exception required=true
cfargument name=eventname type=string required=true
cflog text=#exception.message#
/cffunction

Some might expect session ended to be logged.

Instead Event Handler Exception. is logged.

That's just how it is.

You need to then look in exception.rootcause to find the tru error thrown in
onsessionend.

Anyone want to agree with me, please?

2007-05-14 Thread Peter Tilbrook
Well the request scope does not, as they say, consume memory as it is used
for the request (top to bottom) and then it is gone.

Of course you could use App or Ser vars. But why? No locking required (even
with the J2EE enabled CF). Yes Session and other scope vars might be
required but after 12 years CF dev you can do most with Request, still be
secure (within reason - I do not store CredCard details for example),

You need to examine how not only CF but other App languages deal with
sessions, requests, etc.

I know am right by NOT using Application scope for basic stuff.

Some might expect session ended to be logged.

Instead Event Handler Exception. is logged.

 That's just how it is.

You need to then look in exception.rootcause to find the tru error thrown
 in onsessionend.

Anyone want to agree with me, please?

[cfaussie] Re: onSessionEnd Error

2007-05-14 Thread Andrew Scott
Peter, there seems to be something wrong with what you are saying there.

Closing a browser can not trigger a session end event. It however will
assign a new session id via CFID CFToken.. but the actuall session
variables still exist in the persistant scope until they expire by the
server during the timeout.

This can be achieved, byt doing a simple test. If you know how to test it.

On 5/14/07, Peter Tilbrook [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

For me if the Session has been terminated (albeit an error or
something made programmatically) then handling of it is crucial.
Unfortunately for me my host does not use J2EE sessions - at all - and
 that sucks.

If the browser (client) is closed - session is terminated. This is
what happens if using J2EE sessions. If not - as my host does - then a
session can be restored by relaunching the browser and opening the
same session. Scary shit but that is what my host does.

So I store nothing in a scope that can be abused - but the session
issue is bloody difficult to avoid.

Yes it can. But you must use J2EE sessions. This is an option in the CF

solution I've encountered in my 12 years CF usage.

I'm going to finish with this...

TACO: The answer to your problem is in this thread, if you care come back
and read it. I was trying to help, you ignored my suggestion and we all
wasted a lot of time.

If you don't want the background, just add this (or something like this) to
your OnError html stuff;

strong#arguments.Exception.ROOTCAUSE.message#/strong

(be aware the ROOTCAUSE won't always exist, but it will exist when errors
occur in OnSessionEnd, OnApplicationEnd, etc.

Cheers.

[cfaussie] j2ee sessions and browser close (was RE: [cfaussie] Re: onSessionEnd Error)

2007-05-14 Thread Charlie Arehart
Peter, if you're yes it can is about the close of browser triggering
onsession end, I really don't think so. Like Andrew says, the session
variables remain in memory until timed out or forcibly removed, or upon a
restart. It's just that the ticket held by the browser pointing to that
session in memory is removed. When using J2EE sessions, CF changed from
using a long-expiring CFID/CFTOKEN cookie to instead using a non-persistent
(in browser memory-only) cookie called jsessionid. Being memory only, it
therefore is removed from memory when the browser closes---that is, assuming
no other instance of the browser is open holding the same cookie.

All these are things I explain in more detail in an article I did in the
CFDJ back in July 2002: http://cfdj.sys-con.com/read/41646.htm (discussed in
the final section), and the point about browser instances is elborated upon
in a blog entry I did around the same time, at
http://cfmxplus.blogspot.com/2002/06/j2ee-session-variables-i-mentioned-in.h
tml. What I say there about Netscape is so for FireFox. As to whether what I
said about IE (then 5 or 6) is still true in 7, I can't say (not yet running
it.)

For the sake of consistency, I should also correct two points Andrew made,
when he said closing the browser will however assign a new session id via
CFID CFToken. There are two problems there: first, again, when using J2EE
sessions those cookies are no longer used for session management (though
they will still be used for client variables, which is indeed why they are
so long-lasting). Anyway, even then it's not that a new jsessionID cookie
would be assigned on browser close but rather a new value would be
assigned (new cookie created) on the next request from that browser when it
hit the CF app.

Not trying to be a tall poppy. Just saw this bug discussion blow up and
thought I'd check in on it. These two points seemed worth clarifying. It is
an area of continued confusion.

Yes it can. But you must use J2EE sessions. This is an option in the CF
Administrator. Is it foolproof? Seems to work better than any client side
solution I've encountered in my 12 years CF usage.

On 14/05/07, Andrew Scott [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

Peter, there seems to be something wrong with what you are saying there.

Closing a browser can not trigger a session end event. It however will
assign a new session id via CFID CFToken.. but the actuall session
variables still exist in the persistant scope until they expire by the
server during the timeout.

This can be achieved, byt doing a simple test. If you know how to test it.

[cfaussie] + Important: Repent, Completely trust in God only and, Love Him with all of your heart.

2007-05-14 Thread Secret

There is a section below with the title Atheism and Evolution are
WRONG.

All those who have sinned deserve to suffer in Hell forever. Pride
is an example of a terrible sin.

1. Repent (be truly sorry for your sins; beg for God's forgiveness;
abandon sin; ask Him to help you stop sinning; and repent for His
sake).

2. Completely trust in God only; do not trust in yourself.

3. Love the Lord with all of your heart.

The Son of God (the Lord Jesus Christ) suffered and died on the cross
to pay for the sins of those who trust in Him. His blood can clean
away our sins. He was buried for three days, then lived again. There
is hope of eternal life and happiness for those who trust in God.

Your efforts and works cannot save you. Only God is truly righteous
and good. Humans are totally corrupt, but thankfully God controls all
things. Thank the Lord if He has saved you, and if His Spirit has
given you the ability to trust in Him.

Atheism and Evolution are wrong:

An atheist is a person who does not believe in God.

God is the Intelligent Creator of the Universe.

If you refuse to trust in God, it's not my loss.

1. Energy/matter cannot be created nor destroyed through natural
methods.

2. The Universe cannot create itself. If it created itself, then
anything can create itself; and the Universe can have a Mind of its
own.

3. Fine-tuning of the Universe.
4. Laws of physics do not order themselves. They have no goals.
5. No oscillating universe; no multiverse.
6. Universe moving towards entropy (or heat death).
7. Planets do not form through natural methods.
8. Gases scatter/dissipate quickly. Therefore, Jupiter have been
created.
9. Saturn has three rings. They have been set in place.
10. A Theory: the Earth is near the center of the Universe. This idea
supports the Bible.
11. The Earth is not millions of years old. Notes: Magnetic field

people were as smart as modern men. Evolutionists have no excuse.

12. Misplaced fossils; Wrong sequence of geological strata/layers;
Polystrata fossils are enemies of Uniformitarianism and Evolution.

13. Decay rates are not constant. Note: Even the speed of light is not
constant. Radiometric methods are unreliable. Example of a flaw: A
radiometric method showed that primate skull KNM-ER 1470 was 212-230
million years old. Even evolutionists rejected it.

14. NATURAL life can only come from life. Abiogenesis (or spontaneous
generation) is impossible.
15. The DNA double-helix, self-repair codes, self-checking system/
algorithms, structure, DNA language convention, irreducible cell
complexity, and chromosome count are enemies of evolution.

16. DNA of humans differ/vary by about 10-12% from each other. 50% of
human DNA is identical to the DNA of a banana. Humans and apes have no
common ancestor.

17. Common sense and science reveal the fact of Intelligent Design.
There are cells which are more complex than New York City or modern
space shuttles.

18. There is no real vestigial/useless organ. There is no junk DNA.
Note: Males' nipples arouse women.

19. Mutations are harmful, deadly, and destructive to genetic codes.
Example: Cancer.
20. Natural selection and Sexual selection do not eliminate
destructive genetic codes.
21. The fossil record and the Cambrian Explosion are enemies of
evolution. There were NO mice-bats with one wing or two wings each
having 25% bone structure. There were NO walking fishes.

22. The Lord gave humans a conscience, morals, and advanced
intelligence.
23. Strong evidence of a Global Flood in the past. This fact supports
the Bible. Geologic layers were formed quickly and catastrophically.
Note: Hydro-plate theory.

24. No historical record gives clues about evolution.
25. Scientists can use false or biased data. Examples: Piltdown man
deception, Lucy mistake, Archaeopteryx mistake.

26. Evolution is science fiction (a myth). It is similar to the story
of the Centaurs (horse-men) and Mermaids (fish-women). I don't believe
in Centaurs and Mermaids.

27. Philosophers love wisdom. But, only God is truly wise. Atheists
are not philosophers. They are not free-thinkers.

28. Science is closely related to knowledge or information. These
things are useless if there is no God. True scientists trust in the
Creator of the Universe.

29. Atheism or evolution does not provide a solid foundation for
morality. If there is no God, there is no good nor evil.

30. Evolution is a myth. Even if it is true, there are evolutionists
who believe in God.
31. Every time atheists and evolutionists cannot answer a valid
question, they say, It's an Unexplained Mystery. Thus, they have

11. The Earth is not millions of years old. Notes: Magnetic field
decay; Archaeology; History, other Time limiters. Note: Ancient
people were as smart as modern men. Evolutionists have no excuse.

12. Misplaced fossils; Wrong sequence of geological strata/layers;
Polystrata fossils are enemies of Uniformitarianism and Evolution.

13. Decay rates are not constant. Note: Even the speed of light is not
constant. Radiometric methods are unreliable. Example of a flaw: A
radiometric method showed that primate skull KNM-ER 1470 was 212-230
million years old. Even evolutionists rejected it.

14. NATURAL life can only come from life. Abiogenesis (or spontaneous
generation) is impossible.
15. The DNA double-helix, self-repair codes, self-checking system/
algorithms, structure, DNA language convention, irreducible cell
complexity, and chromosome count are enemies of evolution.

16. DNA of humans differ/vary by about 10-12% from each other. 50% of
human DNA is identical to the DNA of a banana. Humans and apes have no
common ancestor.

17. Common sense and science reveal the fact of Intelligent Design.
There are cells which are more complex than New York City or modern
space shuttles.

18. There is no real vestigial/useless organ. There is no junk DNA.
Note: Males' nipples arouse women.

19. Mutations are harmful, deadly, and destructive to genetic codes.
Example: Cancer.
20. Natural selection and Sexual selection do not eliminate
destructive genetic codes.
21. The fossil record and the Cambrian Explosion are enemies of
evolution. There were NO mice-bats with one wing or two wings each
having 25% bone structure. There were NO walking fishes.

22. The Lord gave humans a conscience, morals, and advanced
intelligence.
23. Strong evidence of a Global Flood in the past. This fact supports
the Bible. Geologic layers were formed quickly and catastrophically.
Note: Hydro-plate theory.

24. No historical record gives clues about evolution.
25. Scientists can use false or biased data. Examples: Piltdown man
deception, Lucy mistake, Archaeopteryx mistake.

26. Evolution is science fiction (a myth). It is similar to the story
of the Centaurs (horse-men) and Mermaids (fish-women). I don't believe
in Centaurs and Mermaids.

27. Philosophers love wisdom. But, only God is truly wise. Atheists
are not philosophers. They are not free-thinkers.

Well, at least us hell-bound demons won't have to put up with you're

But why don't you just ask Mr Deity and Lucy, they have first hand

[cfaussie] Re: onSessionEnd Error

2007-05-14 Thread Chris Velevitch

Try replacing references to arguments.exception with
#textDump(arguments.Exception)#

where the function textDump is:-

cffunction name=textDump
cfargument name=pValue
cfargument name=pPrefix default=

cfif pPrefix neq ''
cfset pPrefix=#pPrefix#.
/cfif
cfoutput
cfloop item=i collection=#pValue#
cfset j = pValue[i]
cfif isSimpleValue(j)
#pPrefix##i#: #j#br
cfelse
cfif isStruct(j)
cfset lvLabel = #pPrefix##i#
#textDump(j[a],lvLabel)#

#textDump(j[a],lvLabel)#

This should give you the complete content of the exception structure.
At least you'll have all the information to better determine the
cause.

From what i see on this list, the only reason anyone would be ringing
you would be to ask you to stop posting silly messages on the list.

I passed this list onto the person who posted it as I am currently

[cfaussie] getting info on coldfusion bugs

2007-05-14 Thread Pat Branley

hi all

ive got an issue with CFDOCUMENT (running CF 7.02) and the scaling of
images in the header. It appears its a long running issue and has a
logged bug number. See the thread below for info:

http://www.sagewire.org/cfml-discussion/CFDOCUMENT-PDF-image-scaling-problem-after-HotFix-100489.aspx

Does anyone know if there is a way to see what logged bugs exist on
adobe.com ? i cant seem to find anything. Maybe im getting too used to
OSS projects where bugs are publically listed, i suppose thats not
allways the case with commercial software.

Pat
