Re: [cfaussie] Looking for ColdFusion 10 Installer
Hi Charlie, thanks, I thought there would be something like this out there. Unfortunately the CF10 installer that is there is the original, 10.0.0 installer not the updated one with Server 2012 R2 support (Install anywhere is broken for R2 and needed an updated). In answer to the 'why is it boned' one word: cryptolocker. So, hunt is still on for a Server 2012 R2 version of the CF10 installer. cheers, Lucas. Hi All, just to follow up with one point that mike forgot... Andrew, Not everyone is on the Beta, if there is even such a thing... So posting on the said forums is not possible for everyone... With all the Adobe CF8 noise in almost every other country but Australia, i think this is TOTALLY VALID question for a ColdFusion list... And now, on a tangent about betas.. It is like fight club.. the first two rules say it all. Cheers, Lucas. On 5/9/07, Mike Kear [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: It's hardly a secret any more Andrew. Ben and Tim and others are busy tramping the world telling anyone who'll listen that there's a new version coming out and sneak previewing new features almost every day. Tim Buntel said at WebDU that CF8 would be released around Mid Year we hope. If he meant it to be a secret that wasnt the right place to say that. Tim's not wet behind the ears. He wanted us to know that's when the product was expected out. Knowing what I know about product development cycles, I would guess that Tim knew then exactly what date the product was going to be released but didnt want to say just then. I can think of a few reasons why he wouldnt want to announce the date, even though it had been settled on long ago: [1] to generate curiosity and have us discussing it [2] to keep potential spoilers in teh dark to make their counter-attack planning more difficult [3] to allow for the possibility of problems that might delay the launch date - e.g. bugs appearing, delivery snafus in documentation, packaging etc [4] to maintain sales of MX7 for as long as possible. As soon as a new version of any software is annnounced, sales of the older version must drop off markedly as people wait for the new one before buying. But expect to see the new CF8 mid year. Hey Rony, If that is what you are trying to achieve, can I suggest a slightly different way to tackle this.. Please ignore the bad psudo code, but you get the idea... cfif loginformsubmitted !--- validate login --- !--- make sure isLoggedIn() returns true if they are now logged in --- /cfif cfif isSecuredPage() and NOT isLoggedIn() cfinclude template=loginpage.cfm cfabort /cfif this way there is no redirects - if the user is not allowed to see the page the browser will sit on the same page and just present a log in screen make sure you login form submits back to the same url and it will get processed and let the user continue on to the right content if they log in successfully. cheers, Lucas. Without going into a massive post about the project we found a need to try out some Flex. I was Whoa stoked. We started off very small a simple form posting to a database. My background is mainly CF so I tackled Flex like a CF programmer would. It's sad to say that I totally under estimated the complexity of programming Flex. Now guys/gals, this page was the most BASIC page you could imagine. Where I felt Adobe let me down was the fact that all their PR explained how easy it was to pick up the Flex language. What they don't tell you is that you REALLY need to know OO and you REALLY need to have a good framework. The lack of examples in which I personally learn from is so limited that it left me shell shocked. When I learned ColdFusion it was SO much easier. Ben Forta is my friend! And of course this list bailed me out a number of times. Adobe are constantly pushing the fact that 9x% use flash player and video format is taking off. Then how come Adobe doesn't utlise this and create tutorials on how to use their products!? The company I work for is Huge and the amount of time that I wasted trying to achieve the most basic results I could have done 10 times quicker in ColdFusion AND .NET twice over. The sad fact of the matter is I will never recommend Flex to any programmer or company that I deal with again. So I hope that making Flex open-source will help bridge the massive learning curve that developers will encounter. Flex had so much potential and that I personally feel its fallin flat on its vector based face. [cfaussie] OT: Melbourne CFUG
Hey Folks, i know that there has been a lot of offtopic chatter this week, so in an effort to drag it back on topic, I would love to hear from anyone who is interested in meeting for a Melbourne CFUG. Now I know that there are people that have run this group in the past but it seems to have dried up so I am just really waving a big stick trying to work out if there is interest or if it is really dead and there is no CF in Melbourne. We kinda have a venue that we could use to run a meeting (it will cost us but don't let that put you off just yet) but before we go too far, i don't want to tread on toes... I would love to meet up and chat, shoot the breeze or even talk CF with folks. I will be at WebDU if you are interested i reviving the CFUG in Melbourne ok, that is it for now... I am going to go and program now, on an non-adobe operating system, on a computer not built by adobe, in a tool not built by adobe, in a language that is not CF - so I am really going to go to hell (sorry scott) -- Lucas http://www.thebitbucket.net --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups cfaussie group. Hi Steve,we have implemented a paypal process here and it is similar to the one you have outlined. whilst you can send some data to PayPal behind the scenes, you do have to go through a process like you discribe. oh and yes, you do get a response back from paypal and then you need to continue. Think of the paypal pages as a pre-auth to your credit card process. when the user comes back from paypal you know that the user has funds to go ahead with the transaction and then you will need to execute the transaction against their paypal account and set the order as 'paid' in your system. hope this helps,Lucas. On 6/21/06, Steve Onnis [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I know a few people on here have set up paypal on websites. Hey Duncan,if you want to check on how this works under the hood, have a look at the java class files in your web-inf/cfclasses directory.they are the compiled java code that CF executes.get your hands on a decompiler and you will see that the raw java code looks exactly like you cut and paste your include in to the calling template prior to compilation. there is my two cents worth :)L.On 5/17/06, Simon Haddon [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: You look at the whole fusebox and MVC architecture and it basically ends up generating new cfm templates with alot of cfincludes. [cfaussie] Re: DISTINCT not so distinct
yeah, as you are using a MAX() you are going to need a group by...try...group by d.docTitle, d.docIntro, d.docContent, d.docImage, d.IDOn 5/8/06, Seona Bellamy [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: On 08/05/06, Lucas [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Ok, that is what is playing up for you - ask you can have more than one category per article, dc.categoryID will make two records that appear the same to be different (two different categoryIDs)you may want to wrap it in a Max() so you only get one categoryID. L.Ah, good call. I hadn't considered that aspect of it. I tried changing the query to this: SELECT DISTINCT(d.docTitle), d.docIntro, d.docContent, d.docImage, MAX(dc.categoryID), d.ID FROMr_document AS d,r_docByType AS dt,r_docByCategory AS dc WHERE dt.docTypeID = 1 ANDdt.documentID = d.ID ANDdc.documentID = d.ID ORDER BY d.dateEntered DESC LIMIT 3 The error it gave me said something about a problem with the GROUP BY clause - which is strange, because there isn't one. Does there need to be? I've looked in the online manual, and I can't see anything that suggests Max() can only be used with a GROUP BY. Hi Jeremy,I guess the one thing I am missing here is how you are changing the list into a query?why not just loop over the list?On 5/2/06, cfgroupie [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hi guys,I'm just having issues with my append function. [cfaussie] Re: Post Long weekend brain fart
Ahh ok, got ya - ok so the query that you are looping over doesn't have any records in it...if it did, the loop over CChanges would contain the ids you need.L.On 5/2/06, cfgroupie [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: No I'm just cutting down the code so that you can see what I'm gettingat. [cfaussie] Re: cfmail security
Hey Jeremy,at the moment there is no way to use SSL to connect to an SMTP server using CFMail at present. Now is a good time to remind folks about the CFWish system. head to http://www.macromedia.com/go/wish/ and add your feature request...you never know, it might make CF 8 :-)Lucas.On 3/6/06, cfgroupie [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Hey Cool ppl.I have a question that was raised to me the other day. Where i got stuck was when I found out that server requires itto be encrypted when sending it over. i.e. the username and password. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups cfaussie group.
