The only time I can even think about it now is after 9:00 PMwhen it goes back below 100. And who the heck wants to get up at 4:00 AM onweekends to get some work in before 10:00 when it's usually over 100 again.Such is the bane of the low desert southwest (in summer).Darrell> Every year around this time I get the itch to get another Chevelle. RE: [Chevelle-List] Horse Power
It depends on what you are starting with. When I first got my '70 back in 1991, it had a stock 2-bbl 400 small-block with a single exhaust. Upgrading to a factory dual exhaust (2.5") using Dynomax mufflers took me from a 16.0 in the quarter, down to a 15.2 with no other changes. This was using manifolds, not headers. A good exhaust system (2.5" or bigger) is always a good addition. -Dave, [EMAIL PROTECTED] -Original Message-From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Dave BenjaminSent: Thursday, June 28, 2001 11:25 PMTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]Subject: [Chevelle-List] Horse Power Does any one know how much & how little horse power headers with 2 1/2" exhaust will add to a 350 with edelbrock performer intake and 300 hp cam? It is ESSENTIAL that you reply as thedirections describe in order to be removed from the list. The reason for this second confirmation is to prevent a$$holes from foolingaround with other people's settings/etc.Once you finish this, you will get 1 more email telling you that you are nolonger subscribed.PLEASE STOP SENDING UNSUB REQUESTS BACK TO THIS LIST, AS IT WILL ONLY ADD MORE CLUTTER TOUR ALREADY OVERFLOWING INBOX. Hello Where is the best place to get a radiator for a Chevelle I just installed a 350 the car originally had a 307. I believe I'm supposed to use a 3 row radiator will the shroud that was on the 2 row radiator mount on the 3 row? Also should I change the clutch fan or use the one that the 307 had? If anyone has done this project can you please advise me as to which parts to use I'm not sure which parts to use. Thanking you in advance Andrew

Also in the general info area the "Online Chevelle Interchange Page" has some good stuff , including aftermarket part #'s. RE: [Chevelle-List] Got the itch
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List That's funny. Around these parts, the itch seems to start around October. That's when the temperature returns to levels conducive to serious thrashing. The only time I can even think about it now is after 9:00 PM when it goes back below 100. And who the heck wants to get up at 4:00 AM on weekends to get some work in before 10:00 when it's usually over 100 again. Such is the bane of the low desert southwest (in summer). I would be inclined to treat these pieces the same as any exterior paint. Wait 30 days for all of the solvents to fully evaporate from the painted surfaces. Waxes and protectants can trap solvents under the surface of the paint film which is known to cause the finish to dull irreversibly. This is also known as die back. [Chevelle-List] Headliner adhesive
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List Okay, it's not my Chevelle, put I recently put in a headliner kit from JC Whitney in our Cutlass, and I am having a terrible time getting the vinyl to stick on the sides. I have used 3M spray adhesive, which seems to be holding the insulation to the top of the car fine, but not the headliner itself. Is it getting too hot? Any suggestions what else to use? - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: [Chevelle-List] Interior stuff
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List Hey everyone, Ive been on this list for over a year now but for the past coupla months my mailbox has been really backed up with 500+ messages, it doesnt make much sense to respond to a thread that died a month ago. Anyways, Im doing up the interior on my 72 and have a couple of questions for you guys. 1. I am doing a bench to buckets swap and would eventually like to put in a console or at least a B&M or Hurst floor shifter (the car is an automatic). Is there any welding or floor pan modification I should do now while I am painting it and its easy to get at? The console is a little bit out of my budget at this point but if anyone has an old one to sell let me know. 2. Anyone find replacement moldings for door panels? The set Im recovering is good except for that silver tape and I was considering painting in silver lines like pinstripes. 3. For those of you who painted/dyed hard plastic and vinyl pieces is there any amount of time you should wait before applying a protectant (like armor all) ? I dont want the new color to fade. thanks for any been there/done that advice, ponderings, casual musings, etc. -Dan '72 Malibu - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [Chevelle-List] Interior stuff
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List For the console you will have to weld on one bracket. YOu will also need the bucket seat conversion brackets welded on the floor. I did this to mine. I used leather shoe dye to recolor the console base as well as my dash pad. I waited about 48 hours before amoralling it. Color still looks good. No chipping of any kind. I think these are lurkers that want to gleam info without interacting...they don't read any of the fine print that states how many emails they'll get...then they freak out when they get 100 or so in a day. Most of them seem to let it get so bad that they freak out on the list. If they would just take the time to read a little before they sign up for things, it wouldn't happen nearly as much. These people rarely contribute or they'd know about how things are done. They also don't think to just ask one person what's up...thereby concealing their ignorance and idiocy. They have to get really riled up and show everyone their wadded panties. It will never get any better as there will always be stupid people who don't read things through or think them through before acting. You see it every day now. It used to really bother me greatly, now I just laugh and write something equally stupid to the idiots. Re: [Chevelle-List] My '69 Chevelle is painted!
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List There have been so many bad stories that I want to write about a good experience. Mind you I managed my own expectations and did lots of the prep work. When I got my '64 it was six colors. Not having $5000 for a good paint job, I decided to go cheap. So I got all the emblems, chrome, and anything else removable off the car, put on 4 junk yard wheels, cleaned the exterior and went to Earle Scheib. Five years later the car still looks like it had an inexpensive paint job, but for $350 there is no way I can complain about anything. - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

The recent "Motorsports" big block available from GM is specifically designed for this type torture. The most obvious way to identify one of these blocks is to look at the oil port on the top rear of the block. Standard blocks are cast and machined to take a 1/8" NPT oil pressure sensor. If you find a block with an altered casting that has a 1/2" NPT port -- you have something special. - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[Chevelle-List] Headlight Relay
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List I did a good thing last weekend. Having recently moved into the country a bit and driving now on really dark country roads, I'd begun noticing that the headlights in my '66 Elky weren't all that bright (unless they were really switched onto bright). I did some investigating and found only 10.5 volts making it to the lights (that voltage makes a long and perilous voyage before getting to the lights). I remembered an article that ran in one of the car mags not too long ago about adding a relay into the headlight circuit. I didn't go digging for the article, but just dived right in. I used an extra Radio Shack auto relay I had laying around and attached it to the radiator support. I used one of the original supply lines to the driver's headlight as the control voltage and pulled the load voltage from the junction box. Did a little cutting and splicing - took about an hour - and it was done. I hadn't done any night driving until last night and had almost forgotten the job, but once I got on the road the difference was amazing. 12 volt headlamps work much better once they're supplied with 12 volts (or 13.5 as the case may be). For night driving in really dark areas, this mod is highly recommended. Re: [Chevelle-List] My '69 Chevelle is painted!
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List he did the headliner in the end of MAY 2000. What happened that pissed me off was this. He opened the door of the Chevelle into the door of a jeep putting 2 dents in the door. He put in writing that he would pay for the damage. He didn't like the estimates I got which were like 700-800 dollars. Total ended up being 900. I only went after him for the damage he caused which was 767.15. I had a few other things touched up while it was at the body shop. I took his ass to court in Nov. 2000 b/c he refused to pay it and I won. He began to pay it in Dec 2000, and stopped last Feb. He still owes me 367.15. So I put a lien on his bank account. Besides that he said it would a show quality job. Now the rear corners are beginning to buckle, and he put the dome light on wrong. So now I am going to be out another 200 bucks to have someone else do it right. I think I'm going to experiment with upholsering next. Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List I never knew you had that big of a dispute on your headliner, what happened? Jeez, when I do peoples' interiors I let it be known I am not a show quality guy, I am just starting out and although sometimes my work doesn't always look excellent I do my best and for the money I turn out some pretty nice stuff. Any time someone (notice I don't refer to them as customers) isn't happy I do my best to make them. You said that you were still on the guy? How long has this been, before I joined the list? Re: [Chevelle-List] My '69 Chevelle is painted!
Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List Nice Photos! Vent Away!! Don Sounds like what I'm going through with my '63. I got little rust circles forming around some trim holes that were bondo'ed on my '63... my receipt says they were welded. The owner told me to bring my car back, and they would fix it... I'm not sure I want to. It took the better part of 3 weeks to get their overspray off my A window and 1/4 window stainless... I just put all my inerior, windshield, and door glass in, and only cruised the car for a couple weeks before the paint started going to hell. I figure the jackoffs will just bugger it up again. I shouldn't complain though, they only had my car for 6 months and charged give or take $3500. The red one on my link was done in my drive, and has nicer body lines, better gloss, and less dirt in the paint; I can't help but wonder how much nicer it would be if I was a professional like them. I've owned my '63 (green) Nova for 8 years. It was supposed to be done right; I did all the mechanical work myself and did it right. The paint shop ruined my car. I'm so disgusted with the car, I'll probably sell the d**n thing, rather do it over. Sorry, had to vent. http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=1551528&a=11769071 - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
