 Hi folks!

I'm back on the list, after a year in San Francisco, Paris and Brussels and
then another year getting my new garage built here in Costa Mesa, CA. The
garage should be done in a month, and then I start rebuilding my 66 El
Camino, which is a painted shell in storage right now.

I owe some people some parts, but lost all records when my PC got stolen in
September. Was it Darrel that sent me the control arms? I have the
 replacements to send back.

I picked up some sidepipes a while back..I've sat beside the car but never
installed them. My tubing is 3inch with the grill portion being around 4
inches. Slammed to the ground might cause a nice spark show at night. Then
again it is always tough to keep the exhaust off the ground when slammed.
Torch Tech sells exhaust systems from 2 1/4 to 3 1/2 for many applications. I
helped install on on a 70 firebird. It was a 3 inch system that tucked up
under the car very nicely.

I am reinstalling the under the hood wiring harness on a standard 69
Mailbu and have several questions about what goes where.

On the driver's side, behind the headlights, the voltage regulator and horn
relay appear to be the only wired components. The voltage regulator has a
plug connector, but does not appear to have any screw attachments.

The horn relay appears to have one wire attachment.

At that location, the original harness has two separate heavy wires (one red
and the other a darker color) that require a screw attachment.

Can anyone tell me where the two heavy duty wires attach on the left side
(drivers) behind the headlight openings?

Thanks for any help.

There are 2 harnesses under the hood. There is the engine harness and the
front lamp harness. Unfortunately, my 69 El Camino is over 300 miles from
here, so I can't go out and look at the wires and/or how they are routed.

When you say the original harness is the new one different? My new ones
are set up for HEI internal regulator, whereas the originals were not.
IIRC, the regulator connection is on the forward lamp harness rather than
the engine harness. You may be looking at some wires that went to the
external regaulator.

Hello,
I am having a terrible time installing posi in my 10 bolt rear. I purchased
a used posi unit to replace the open differential. Everything bolted in
just
fine until time for the C-clips.

I got the c-clips in and they spin freely, but now the center pin does not
have enoug room to slide through, and there is no room to back out the axles
any farther. I used the stock axles which came with the open differential.
Does a Posi carrier take shorter axles?

Any advice would be truly appreciated, as my car is useless withour rear
tires!

You may not be aware, but there are at least 2 different types of Holley
fuel bowls. The traditional CENTER pivot bowl and the SIDE pivot bowl.
When you remove the fuel bowl - the float will either pivot in the center
or on the end of the fuel bowl. Also, the fuel bowls are most likely NOT
INTERCHANGABLY from front to back. Because the threads are not tapped on
both sides of the fuel bowl.

Wasn't patting myself on the back or pandering for votes but I do appreciate
them! The picture was taken at Goodguys in Ft. Worth last year by a
professional photographer and had the background completely stripped and a
mirror effect added. The guy's name Mark Killam and he's out of Enid, OK
and makes a bunch of car shows. I saw him again at the OKC Starbird show
and he had this picture up in his booth. I already had a large print but
had another 8x10 made just for fun. The man does super work (see
http://www.killamphotography.com/) and if you're ever at a show where he's
around, IMO, it's worth the money to have one done.

[Chevelle-List] Super Chevy magazine

2002-03-06 Thread Mach4

Quotations from a note I got today from Super
Chevy...

 "Dear Subscriber,

 "This is the
third invoice we have sent you for your SUPER
CHEVY subscription and still we have not heard from you." (both
statements are true)

 "We cannot continue
sending you copies of the magazine unless your account is settled. We
do not want to interupt your service but you leave us no choice.

 "To avoid this, mail your
payment and the invoice in the enclosed reply envelope. We will mark your
account "Paid in Full" and send your next issue." (all bold type was underlined
on my letter)

Sounds pretty threatening, doesn't it? Sounds like
the kind of statement I'd get for a past due bill, eh?

According the the last invoice I got, and according
to mky checkbook, this subscription expires in June of 2002. Am
I missing something - I don't get my next issue (April) unless I pay them now
for another year? And May and June, which I have also already paid
for?

I think my response to them will be, "You are
right. Don't send my next issue. Or any more. In fact, I am immediately
cancelling my subscription. Please send a refund for the last 3
issues!."

Too bad - I like Super Chevy magazine. But Chevy
High Performance isn't too bad either. Maybe they are a little more honest in
their billings.

I didn't renew Hot Rod because of the smart aleck
attitudes the editors have towards any subscribers who send them a letter
suggesting a change. Now Super Chevy is also down the tubes as far as I am
concerned. Don't these outfits have any ethics any more?

Maybe it's time to start reading National
Geographic again!!!

(A copy of this is going to the Super Chevy
Subscription Dept. I'll be interested if I get any response)

then I got an invoice ( they already had cashed my check in Jan) I
e-mailed them from their web site to let them know that my Apr issue had not
arrived but had been on the newsstands for quite some time, and to ask if
it was common policy for them to send out subscription re-newals after only 2
issues of a 12 month subscription, they answered back in 2 days to say that the
Apr. issued would be re-mailed but said nothing about the invoice. I have since

Fwd: [Chevelle-List] float bowl, holley

2002-03-06 Thread HarKemAsso

IT should be OK i think, i am in the process of building a surge tank, i
think that's what they call it (any photos or plans for one of these would be
great too)
it is a tank which holds any where from 1- gallon to 1- quart of fuel
(depending on space) . it mounts up by the radiator- your fuel pump feeds
it, then a holley float bowl is mounted to it to shut off the fuel when the
little tank gets full, a line comes out the bottom of this tank through a
small elec. fuel pump back to the engine (or in my case the nitrous fuel
feed) this little tank will never run out of fuel and the force from the
acceleration will help instead of hurt, the guy who builds my engine told me
about this set up, this way i don't have to run a bigger fuel line back to my
tank redo my sender, i guess the pro stockers are all using these now. i
had nitrous on my other car (S10 355 pick up) and when i energized the
nitrous the fuel pressure would drop down to about 1 1/2 lbs of pressure

---BeginMessage---

Replies to this message are sent to The Chevelle Mailing List

You may not be aware, but there are at least 2 different types of Holley
fuel bowls. The traditional CENTER pivot bowl and the SIDE pivot bowl.
When you remove the fuel bowl - the float will either pivot in the center
or on the end of the fuel bowl. Also, the fuel bowls are most likely NOT
INTERCHANGABLY from front to back. Because the threads are not tapped on
both sides of the fuel bowl.

Cliff...what can I say..THANKS I understand it now!! The only
question remaining is how do you determine the amount of backspacing you are
going to need with a certain wheel and tire? Is there a calculation for
this, common knowledge, or is it trial and error? I have a 69 Chevelle and
want to put 285/40ZR17 on the rear and 255/45ZR17 on the front. The 69
Chevelle in the Chevelle Magazine used 17x8s w/4.75 bs for the front and
17x9.5s w/5.5 bs for the rear. Does this sound like this combination would
fit under my stock 69? Let me hear from people that have put large tires
and wheels like this on their Chevelle.

Thanks,
Lojac

This is typical of magazines to try to confuse you, or get you to renew
early to get more of a cash flow.
If you're not careful, they will overlap one year with the next and
short you a few issues every year.
Playboy was always good at that, (although that might be too much
information). :) :) :)

I'm sure someone on the list will post a nice

distance from the mounting face of the wheel to the inside edge of the
wheel. If you're planning on running a 10" wide wheel, I can tell you
