RE: [Chevelle-List] My 70 in a movie
I have a friend here in NY who rents cars for film & photography. He might be interested in representing your car. He has several very valuable cars and he knows what he is doing. I was just talking with him about starting a network of people whose cars he can call in rather than just renting his own cars. You can see his cars at filmcars.com Click on the cars on the left to get info about each car. I would happily rent out my 68 Olds Ninety Eight convertible as a background vehicle, but not to be driven, and that's not even a fully restored car. John Nasta -Original Message- I figured that everyone would say no to this. That's what I told the girl when she called me this morning. I just wanted to see what everyone else thought. It would be pretty cool to see it in a film though. Oh well, not worth the risk. The car can't be replaced as far as I am concerned for any amount of $$. Tom
RE: [Chevelle-List] Blinkers blink too fast.
Thanks everybody. I did not know there was a second flasher. I will look for that tomorrow night. I hope that is the problem. Gosh it would be nice to finally fix a problem for less than $3. All the bulbs are working. I checked all that when I put the body back on the frame. (It has blinked fast the entire time I have owned the car, since 1986. It never bothered me as a kid). The car never had a trailer hitch or extra trailer wiring on it. It has the stock rear harness in pretty good shape yet. I have had the fuse block off and it was not too bad. I already have a new engine and front lighting harness on. The liability is a mixed blessing. As a result the crew attitude is "don't worry, we have insurance." John Nasta -Original Message- Never happen. p.s. keep in mind that in the eyes of the film crew your car is just a prop and the attitude is that if you complain when you get it back, their insurance will deal with it. In the meantime they are only worried about getting what they want. John Nasta - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: [Chevelle-List] My 70 in a movie
Second, a camera rig can and often does scratch or damage the car. I know a guy whose quarter panel trim got crushed and he was not able to replace it. Alternatives include towing the shoot vehicle and having the camera on the tow rig, and shooting from a chase vehicle. The film company is supposed to give you a certificate of insurance that names YOU SPECIFICALLY as the payee in the event of damage, and the amount of coverage. No insurance, no deal. Personally I know how much you value your car and I would advise you not to do it unless you are willing risk the damage/loss. RE: [Chevelle-List] My 70 in a movie
I'll have to send this in 2 pieces: Tom, I have LOTS of experience with film cars. First (assuming you actually want to do it), did they actually say that YOU could drive it? Second, is it a messy scene (like somebody getting shot in the head or vomiting, or glass being shattered)? Will anybody be smoking in the car? Can you bring it home at the end of the day or does it need to stay on set? Any high-speed and/or hard-driving action? Is the car going to be "decorated" in any way (made to look dirty, disco balls, etc.)? To even consider it you would need to ask lots of questions, and have them sign a contract to guarantee you certain things. - To Unsubscribe please visit www.chevelles.net/list.html To start a new topic, send mail to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I agree with the others Tom if anyone is going to tear my car up (definetly not on purpose) it's going to be me. Remember, No one will treat your baby as you do. And just to say my car was in a movie... oh and by the way here's what's left of it... I think NOT!!. Pictures, take them all day. In a movie... I'm driving... no exceptions... or find someone else. Maybe thats why the other guy didnt show up... finally his Chevelle was more important than 15 sec of fame Just my opinion. Good Luck on your decision. Donnie

RE: [Chevelle-List] My 70 in a movie
Tom, I have not had experience with this but an acquaintance of mine loaned his home (in LA) to a film crew for a major MP. The did a great deal of damage, which they paid for, but the harm to his home (Hardwood floors damaged by tripod legs, etc.) took a lot of effort to fix. At best, I would assume they'd treat your car like a rental car - a high performance rental car at that. They may even wreak it. You can bet that mounting a camera in it will leave reminders for you to look at... Re: [Chevelle-List] Timing Help
Around '68 or '69 the damper changed from having the keyway 2 degrees offset from the timing mark to 10 degrees offset but I can't remember which direction. Depending on the originality of your engine the damper could be mismatched to the timing scale; as Keith suggested you definitely want to index the timing mark to see where TDC really is. There are two flasher units. The one at the fuse panel is for the emergency flasher. The other is on top of the steering column and works the turn signals. RE: [Chevelle-List] Blinkers blink too fast.
Title: Message Do what the guys recommend first, replace that flasher unit. But if that's NOT the problem, I'd be looking for a bad connection, poor wiring, corrosion at the light socket, or possibly even corrosion behind the fuse box. You ever plug a trailer into a wiring harness on a car/truck and have the blinkers blink about twice as fast as normal? There are no special light kits installed are there? Is this the original wiring harness the car came from the factory with? If so, I'd be replacing it right quick. JMHO.
