 Hi all,

I have a Holley 4-barrel carb that was given to me to
use on my 327. I need to have it tested, but don't
know anyone locally who could assist me with this. I
know this request is going out on a limb here, but to
be honest I would rather have one of you guys check it
out than take it to a shop, have them do NOTHING with
it at all, and then tell me yeah it's fine.

If I mailed the carb to one of you would you be
willing to check it out for me? Again, I know you
guys are probably saying man this guy's crazy! but
I could really use the help. I am at work now, but
can provide the CFM info and part # when I get home
tonite if any volunteers present themselves. BTW, I
live in MD if you need an idea of where it's coming
 from-

I need a new dash harness for my 64 el camino. What are some good places to

get one ? I guess I need one as today when I'd turn on the left turn signal

Maybe it's haunted. LOL It's really the fuse block as its just about rusted

[Chevelle-List] Muncie shifter handle on a Hurst shifter

2003-01-16 Thread Stephen Lentz
Dale,
I was admiring the background on the scan with the wiper arm remover tool
and happened to look at your odd ball stuff page. You show a Hurst shifter
with a Muncie lever. Do you know if anyone makes this adaptor. I'm not
much of a welder and don't have the equipment anyway. I can't seem to get
my Muncie shifter to go in reverse unless I have a spare minute or three to
wiggle the handle (a lot) before getting it to go. I've also found that the
time takes much longer if there are women present or another vehicle waiting
for me to back up.
I think I'm going to buy a Hurst Comp Plus shifter (the 8014 model) and the
Hurst installation kit (the 7834 model) as well as new steel bushings and a
backup light switch (Yippee- no more ugly toggle switch on the transmission
hump!). Hopefully this combination using the Hurst shifter with the Muncie
handle will work with my stock console and bucket seats and still look
correct.
My car is a 70. Do you sell Hurst goodies or do you know anyone who can
beat Summit's price/service?

Thanks, Steve

Most cam problems are related to installation errors, not cams thenselfs. I would suggest the Crane simply cause almost all the CC grinds that aren't roller are on a 110 LSA. I like the Crane powermax H-260-2 grind... it has a 112 lsa. Otherwise the 255 Dual energy is a nice cam as well. That's my $.02 worth. good luck. Mikey - Original Message - From: J. even if it's not a Modine. If there's a company out there distributing
radiators to retailers at great prices, I'd like to know who they are.
That's why I'm interested in ClimatePro. I was not able to find them on

would run 14.5 in the quarter, with the nitrous set up it would run 13.2
(loved blowing away the mustangs) i had the same unit on that vehicle as you
mentioned above. on that vehicle the fuel pressure would drop down to about
2 lbs when the button was hit with a stock manual fuel pump. i think the
manual ones are more reliable for the street and i think you can get one
that will put out enough or the same as an electric (it is possible they
have improved the electrics lately, maybe some one on the list has one- this
was about 2 yrs ago when i checked). if you do not use a surge tank, you may
need bigger fuel lines, depending on your engine size horss!!

Re: [Chevelle-List] Muncie shifter handle on a Hurst shifter

2003-01-16 Thread yenkochevelle
I have put the Muncie handle on a Hurst shifter by just cutting the bottom
of the handle where it has the 90 deg bend then drill two holes to bolt it
to the Hurst like stock Hurst handle. The Muncie shifters are getting hard
to find so it seems a shame to cut up a Muncie shifter. I have a Hurst and
want to put the Muncie back in. lol
The Hurst has a offset where the handle bolts on. It you have the right
Hurst shifter and the right plate between shifter and trans it should be no
problem.

Subject: [Chevelle-List] Muncie shifter handle on a Hurst shifter

 Dale,
I was admiring the background on the scan with the wiper arm remover tool
and happened to look at your odd ball stuff page. You show a Hurst
shifter
with a Muncie lever. Do you know if anyone makes this adaptor. I'm not
much of a welder and don't have the equipment anyway. I can't seem to get
my Muncie shifter to go in reverse unless I have a spare minute or three
to
wiggle the handle (a lot) before getting it to go. I've also found that
the
time takes much longer if there are women present or another vehicle
waiting
 for me to back up.
I think I'm going to buy a Hurst Comp Plus shifter (the 8014 model) and
the
Hurst installation kit (the 7834 model) as well as new steel bushings and
a
backup light switch (Yippee- no more ugly toggle switch on the
transmission
hump!). Hopefully this combination using the Hurst shifter with the
Muncie
handle will work with my stock console and bucket seats and still look
 correct.
My car is a 70. Do you sell Hurst goodies or do you know anyone who can
 beat Summit's price/service?

 Thanks, Steve

well, ok- it is a small fuel tank that is fed by the fuel pump.
if you have a surge tank, you can use your stock fuel pump. it sits up by the radiator
and holds about 1/2-1 gallon of fuel-(depending on how much room you have) it has a
holley float bowl on it which turns the fuel on and off- then it has an electric pump
on the out side which feeds the carb nitrous. with this system, you will never run
out of fuel in a quarter mile run and don't have to worry about the acceleration
starving your fuel system either because its up front. the pro stocks use them. i'll
try to find you a picture if you want.

Thanks Tom. I can sell Modines at those prices and they have a lifetime

Not to say that recores are necessarily bad either. As long as he gives a
decent warrantee that's a great price.

RE: [Chevelle-List] Comp or Crane Cam?

2003-01-16 Thread Dale McIntosh
Jim,

I'm sure you'll find good cams by just about any mfg and horror stories
as well. I used Crane Fireball cams years ago but have used Comp Cams
in my last two engines. If you select the right profile for your engine
and your driving habits...they all have their followers. One thing I
would do, regardless of mfg, is get the entire kit (cam, lifters,
springs and retainers).

 Well gang,

After alot of great input, I'm a step away from
ordering the cam for my motor- I'm down to 2 cams,
one by Crane and the other by Comp Cams.. Does anyone
prefer one over the other? Heard any horror stories?
Anything I should look out for?

Again, thanx to all who contributed info to me with my
research- If I can get just one more ye or nay on
this final decision, I'll be ordering the cam by the
 weekend.

 Thanks,

 Jim

RE: [Chevelle-List] Muncie shifter handle on a Hurst shifter

2003-01-16 Thread Dale McIntosh
Steve,

I don't sell Hurst but I've used their shifters for almost 40 years in
my Chevelles. The one in this particular car has been there for 15
years. One steel bushing kit, like you mentioned, and it's never given
me a lick of trouble. Summit is probably about as low ball priced as
anyone for Hurst equipment. Unless you know the previous owner or know
all of the parts (rods, arms, shifter assy) by their numbers, I'd be
leary of swap meet items.

I don't know of anyone who makes the adapter commercially, but any
welding or machine shop should be able to follow the specs on that page.
You could probably get a high school or votech student to make one up as
a class project. You'll note the specs for the shifter handle aren't
given so you'd have to measure your stock tower for the bolt spacing...I
imagine there are different measurements for different year towers.

Good luck,

[Chevelle-List] '69 El Camino SS side stripes

Anyone have any photos of a '69 Elky SS with the
factory striping down the side? Was this just an option? Where can these stripe
kits be purchased? Link? Any estimate of their cost? When I bought my car,it had
Heavy Chevy decals on the rear quarters. After today, that is no longer the
case.
