Yep, I saw the one on ebay. I think Jerry had it listed for sale for 70k. So, it
should be interesting to see what it goes for. A little out of my price range.

[Chevelle-List] I'm back...

2003-06-24 Thread Herb Lumpp
I'm finally home after putting nearly 6000 miles on the ol' Elky in the last
three weeks!

Power Tour was a blast, I highly recommend it to everyone - at least once!

Overall the Elky proved pretty darn reliable with only a few minor problems
along the way...

The passenger side axle seal developed a leak on the way to Memphis.
One of my muffler brackets lost the bottom half.
I broke the reverse lock-out pin off the Long shifter.
The clip that holds the wiper linkage to the wiper motor came off - in the
rain of course!

Other than that, I'm very pleased with Ol' Yeller!

For those of you that missed Chevelabration - Find a way to be there next
year! Chuck, great job, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and
we'll be back!

MCC NE was the third and final stop on my vacation - and it too was great in
spite of the rain! Thanks Donnie!

Before I left, I promised to put pictures up on my website. However, I have
some bad news... I have about 600+ megs of .jpgs and .mpegs so there's no
way I can fit it all.

If anyone is interested, I'd be more than happy to mail a cd with all my
pics and vids. I only request $3 to cover the cost of the cd, case,
envelope, and postage - payable to my Paypal account [EMAIL PROTECTED]

If you want the cd send me an email with your mailing address and I'll get

Hey Guys, I found what I was looking for if anyone is interested.
These guys have vintage magazine ads for all makes and models. I
emailed them and they sent me 4 different '69 Chevelle ads they
have. You can get regular size and poster size enlargements.
Here's the link to their 1960's page:

If anyone is interested, I can let you know the quality when I get my

Re: [Chevelle-List] Q: Stuck brake line connection!

2003-06-24 Thread Mike Holleman

Use anti seize on the threads of your new lines, whether SS or
not. SS is especially bad about gaulding the threads and self-destructing. I
have bought SS brake lines from both Inline tube and Classic Tube. Both provide
good quality products, but I will give the nod to Classic as for good service.

hope this helps.

[Chevelle-List] MCC 16th Annual Mid-Atlantic Chevelle Show/ACES Northeast Regional

2003-06-24 Thread DonnieG67
Well guys... another show has come and gone. This one was one for the books. Started
off a little shaky with all of the rain we've had here in MD for the last couple of
months. Arriving on Friday in a complete down pour, just to find our show field was
now a lake was quite a surprise. well not really. Nevertheless, we found another
location close by, relocated, got the word out and had one helluva show on both
Saturday and Sunday!! I thought my horseshoe had finally run out of luck... not so!!

Hopefully some of you had the opportunity to drop by and brave the always rain
threating weather until about noon on Sunday. For those that couldnt make it... we
had over 168 cars this year, around 35 vendors and too many spectators to count (i
only have 10 fingers and toes... might have something to do with it). Chuck Hanson
was on hand talking, shooting pictures, talking, did a seminar on casting numbers, did
I say talking..(just ribbin ya Chuck...LOL). Of course I was all over as usual and
got to meet many new faces to go with the names here on the list.

Next years show is already in the planning... so put it on the calendar... June 19/20,
2004... 17th Annual Mid-Atlantic Chevelle Show Swap Meet/ACES Northeast Regional at
the North East Community Park in North East, MD.

2003-06-24 Thread PLGChevelle65
Thanks for the date Donnie. Now I can make some plans and hang a copy of your e-mail
on the fridge until I get my new flyers. I had many friends co-workers coming that
didn't because of the weather. Aside from the cars, what a beautiful place to spend
the day with friends, families, lovers, etc. Keep a shot of the water in the next
flyer. We don't need it but it's a very enticing extra for those driving long
distances. It's a great way to draw curiosity seekers in. I'm sure we all meet new
people all the time. They may not immediately share our interest but they'll come
bring the family. And like Chuck said, getting kids involved is not only great for
the family relationship but perpetuates the hobby. So, not only can you get the best
Chevelle show on the east coast, but a wonderful day on the Bay. How can you beat it!

right when I got on it a little. It proceeded to worsen to the point that
once I shut it off I could not get it to fire up again.

I've swapped carbs (a 750 Demon and the 750 Carter that was on the engine
prior) and HEI units (Pertronix and the stock unit that was on before) to no
avail. The HEI conversion was done prior to me getting the car, but it I had
never had a problem in the two years prior.

I even got to the point where I pulled the heads and the timing cover to see
if there was a problem...nothing I could find.

I get good compression on all cylinders.

Question: If I put a timing light on any plug wire, should it not fire as
the engine turns over? The only wire that will show any light it #1, all
don't light the gun. Could something be wrong with BOTH distributors? Is
there a way to test? And if they are both bad what would had caused that?

My hope is that there is something simpler just sitting in plain sight, but
I've about exhausted everything I know of.

thanks

Ron

[Chevelle-List] 69 Elky running again

2003-06-24 Thread Clint Hooper
I spent all day in Dallas at the chassis shop and my car is back on the
ground. Looks good! There is a small problem keeping us from test-driving
it,though. The front coils have been trimmed so much that the ride height is
going to cause trouble. We're going to have to raise the front end just a
tad so the driver's side front tire doesn't hit the inner fenderwell. It's
possible I might have to sell my Global West tubular A-arms (on order) and
buy a set of Fatman Fabrication 1 narrower tubular arms, instead.
Sitting in the car's bench seat, the prototype shifter feels great in its
present location and has plenty of clearance, even with the seat all the way
forward. I should have some new photos this evening, after I get off work.
