If you answered no, then Part #3 "Limitations of use and applicant's statement" followed closely by your signature acknowledging that you have read and understand the info on the app will either make you lie at claim time or give Hagerty cause to deny your claim. RE: [Chevelle-list] car insurance
The definition of Daily Transportation is the key. It can mean transporting you everyday or it could mean transporting your over your daily route. I have always been told that driving to work is prohibited use. I also know from 25 years experience in the insurance business that the actual written contract over rules conversations. The seriousness of the accident is going to dictate the response from the insurance company and whether they hang in there with you or hang you out to dry. Food for thought!!! If you are going to drive it to work, I would switch to a company that says it is ok in writing and enjoy driving the car to work once in a while. Excellent advice Bill. While I have not been able to solve the nitrous situation, I am working with a top notch company at this moment to clarify the driving to work issue. We are looking at offering two options. 1st) NO COVERAGE if you EVER drive it to work. 2nd)For a little more money you CAN OCCASIONALLY drive it to work. Would you be willing to pay a little more for and know you have coverage? Any feedback, suggestions welcome. Thanks. The policy does stipulate having to have a "regular use vehicle". It does preclude use for hire, etc, but nothing I could find about driving to work. If I call them, I'll ask where in the policy it says you can't use it to drive to work. I have two daily drivers and am the only one in the household. The lady said driving to work was really the only thing they did not want me to do. Maybe it depends on which person is answering your call that day? The thing I did not want is some hassle if I get rear ended on the interstate in some traffic jam at 3:00 pm and trying to explain to the insurance company how I had the day off and bla bla bla while they are pressing that I violated the agreement. RE: [Chevelle-list] car insurance
Tom, Do you have a copy of your application to Hagerty? It is a part of your policy and question #6 asks "is any collector vehicle used for backup or DAILY TRANSPORTATION?" If you answered yes and Hagerty issued the policy you have no problems. If you answered no, then Part #3 "Limitations of use and applicant's statement" followed closely by your signature acknowledging that you have read and understand the info on the app will either make you lie at claim time or give Hagerty cause to deny your claim. When you drive to work on a Hagerty policy you are taking a big chance. As an agent, I represent other companies that will allow you to drive to work occasionally and they are competitively priced so there is really no need to put your health and your car at risk. I also sell Hagerty policies and the info above came straight off one I just sold. As for State Farm everything is easy until you get to the claim. Their policies are all Stated Value policies which give them the right at claim time to pay you less if they think your car is worth less than the coverage you paid for. The appraisal is not worth the paper it is written on to them. The only way you can overcome this is get a policy from another company that is based on AGREED VALUE or if you want to stay with State Farm have plenty of documentation (photos and receipts) and make sure you keep it in the house (not the car). I couldn't find anything. Under the definition of classic vehicle, it states: 1) Is maintained primarily for use in car club activities, exhibitions, parades, other function of public interest or for a private collection; and 2) Is used infrequently for other purposes which doesn't seem to preclude driving to work. They didn't give me a hassle about driving occasionally to work; their big issue was making sure there is a daily driver for every licensed driver in the family, which is a challenge for me with 2 kids driving now. I'm paying $125/yr ($8k value), versus $240/yr. I like to drive my car to work on occasion. That is really the biggest thing Haggerty is opposed to. For $1 value, Hagerty was $111 per year for full coverage. State Farm gets $370 per 6 months for similar coverage. With state farm I can suspend liability and collision during the months I don't drive it (winter in MN). Mark, The three lines all look the same font on this end, but sometimes the messages are VERY small (8 pt) . I don't know why either. [Chevelle-list] Starter problems
Morning.. Looking for some help, advice on my problem. I fianlly got my Chevelle out of the garage for a test drive and ran great. Went to re-start and got some chattering , tried again and started up. Back in the garage for more work went to start and same thing again. Originally I had shimmed it up , but then removed one of the 3 shims bolted it back in , started fine and then a few days later same thing again. The engine Iam running is a 350 from a '77 Chevy pickup. I put in a new battery thinking that was the problem, started great again and then back to this chattering. By chattering I mean as if the starter gear was just nmissing the flywheel. But its interminet, I checked my flywheel it shows signs of scraping. I purchased starter sheild thinking it was overheating the solenoid . Then bought a hot shot kit putting the solenoid on the firewall like the old Ford had , thats not installed yet. Today I will attempt to take out the other 2 shimms and see if that moves it closer to flywheel. Few of my questions is how do I measure the teeth on the flywheel under the car ?? Are starters different other than the nose ?? And is it possible this is not the right starter for this engine ? Originall I din't know what the engine came out of so we were using a starer from a Monte Carlo, Camaro 350 engine as a reference. But later found out the it came from a 77 Chevy Pickup. Would I need to get a starter that matches that year and cubes ?? You guys are the best so thats why I come here for help...thanks much John 66 Chevelle Malibu Phila. Pa
RE: [Chevelle-list] car insurance
Although I had an issue in the past with Hagerty over having nitrous in my car, I have to say; if I were an insurer giving good rates for low usage I would make sure “driving to work” was listed as a “not to do” in my program. Let’s face it; driving to work has to be one of the highest exposure times you can drive. The whole point of classic car insurance is to cover you for limited use. Why push it? Re: [Chevelle-list] Rear Springs
Ed, Car Quest carries them and they are cheaper than mail order. I believe they are made by Moog. If they don't have them in stock they can have them in 2 days. kevin d --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: > I would like to know if anyone has found a place to > purchase OEM type rear > springs for a 70 Chevelle.
