[Chevelle-list] New Intake for the Chevelle

2005-03-23 Thread John W. Lonadier, Jr.
Title: Message

I want to get
another intake for the Chevelle but I want to still have the "Cowl Induction"
setup looking like it does with the original intake. i.e.. air filter element,
flange and gasket still mating up against the under side of the hood without to
much binding. Have any of you out there done this? If so, which intake did you
use? I was thinking of going with the Edelbrock "Performer". This one seems to
have the lowest profile of the ones that I have looked at.

Thanks in
advance

Glad you got the brake problems sorted out,Larry.
Sounds like you have yourself a sweet 65.
I'm going to build another 427" for my 69 this
year.

A week ago I e-mailed the list looking for any
help for a brake problem.  If you recall, I installed a new 8" booster
and master cylinder.  The car originally had a dual master cylinder w/
discs on the front only.  The car has early 70s Camaro front discs and
stock drums on the rears.  After the installation the car had no or
little front brake and the rears locked up.  I installed a
proportioning valve on the rear, but was still having problems with lock
  up.

I appreciate the help the list from those who
  bothered to respond.

Here what I did to fix the problem:

I installed organic pads on the front instead of
  hard pads.

Reversed the lines from the master cylinder -
front reservoir to the front brakes.

And the most significant thing was to adjust the
  proportioning valve the RIGHT WAY.

  It works great NOW.

I also had a Headman X-pipe installed on
the car today.  I sounds awesome.

The 427 BB has Edelbrock RPMs and a new
  Comp Hyd Roller.

in 72, nothing in the VIN ID's an SS. UNLESS the engine digit is a W
. W is for 454 and the only 72 chevelle to get the 454 was the SS.
More than likely its a clone.

The center cap attaches by snapping into place by the
two tabs, and yes they are on the center cap themself.
The chrome ring piece is what blows the horn, the cap
is for looks only,

RE: [Chevelle-list] Fiberglass bed cover

2005-03-23 Thread John Nasta

I would like to get one of those myself but
have been hesitating because I park on the city streets. I have to wonder if
people would be curious to look in there or if someone might even steal it.

Has anyone mentioned how much they cost? I presume
you have to do some drilling to mount hardware?

Seems like there has been an area code change.

Thanks,

[Chevelle-list] '66 steering wheel center cap

2005-03-23 Thread Krister Meister

Does the center cap on a '66 steering wheel attach with tabs? If with
tabs, would the tabs be on the center cap or on the chrome horn piece? I
am looking for a '66 wheel to replace my current after market one and find
many wheels for sale missing the center cap which I've seen as a repo in
several parts catalogs. Just need to know how the cap attaches.
Secondary: on a '66 steering wheel, is it just the center cap that blows
the horn or the whole chrome piece?

Thank you,

Krister Meister

Gaylord in Ca. makes a cover for El Caminos. it
is the only manufacture  that I know of producing hard lids for
  them..

I installed on last year on my 85 Elcy and am
vary happy with the fit and  finish. The smooth black gel coat is flat
  and straight.
go to there web site and search for a local
dealer.  The Big re=pop houses also carry them,,, Honest Charles in Tenn.

Do you have an address? I work usually 3 to 4 days a week in Port Huron, and I'll stop by and check.

Re: [Chevelle-list] Website again

2005-03-23 Thread tigergutt
Ciao

Thanks for the compliments
He did like this:
He tapped the steel hubs from the outside, then he used the threads in the
steel to
guide the tap through the aluminum from the inside, then he drilled out the
threads
in the steel and "voila" we are good to tighthen the bolts.
As added safety I gave the bolts to a guy who have a drill press to drill some
small
holes in them to safety wire them so they cant back out.

Ciao
