[Chevelle-list] just thinking...
Hi guys, I've been kicking the idea around of offering up my '66 Chevelle Malibu, in hopes of trading it for a '55 Chevy 2-door. I've owned the car for 9 years, and starting to feel I might be ready for a change.. Just wondered if I were to throw that offer out, if anyone here knew of someone who might be interested. Again, just thinking right now!! She's family so it might be hard for me to do when the time comes to pull out the title! Re: [Chevelle-list] just thinking...
Jim,I've owned probably 25-30 TriFives and love the cars. My last one was a beautiful red/white 57 Nomad that I still kick myself for selling. However,TriFives have priced themselves out of my market in the last few years. 64-72 Chevelles are starting to do the same thing. I've been building cars for over 35yrs and the most helpful friendliest bunch of people I've ever known were those in the Chevelle/El Camino community (with the ZR-1 group a close 2nd). Having a good support group is very important,to me anyway. Sorry for being so long-winded but if I owned a desireable car like a 66 Chevelle,it would be very tough for me to ever part with it,Jim. [Chevelle-list] shocks
I am getting new shocks for the rear of my 70' chevelle and I'm probably getting the good shocks like the Bilstein or the IAS Edelbrock. Do they both come with Poly. bushings? I think the Edelbrocks do. I'm keeping all the rear upper and lower control arms with rubber bushings. This one has two-four barrel carbs must be 62. Money wise around 10K+, I'm thinking.I have 2-396 BBs a 1966 (30,000 origional miles)and if I remember correctly a 1971 (100 miles since rebuild). Re: [Chevelle-list] 409 engine
If all the parts have matching date codes,$10K probably isn't outta line. One thing to check is the engine block. If it's out of a truck instead of a passenger car, that tends to really bring the price down. grin Clint Hooper HH Custom, owner 1969 El Camino protourer 2001 H-D FLHR custom bagger For Sale http://dalesplace.com/misc/friends/clint/clint_hooper.htm You may find me dead one day in a ditch. Re: [Chevelle-list] Malibu Windshield frame rot
Hi Larry, Unfortunately there is nothing out there in the aftermarket for the top of the windshield channel regardless of whether it' s a coupe or convertible. [Chevelle-list] New Heads on, FINALLY.
Title: Message I've had the new heads on the Chevelle for about3 weeks now. I waited until now to say anything because I wanted to make sure that all was fine with the transplant. Clint, you were correct in saying that I would be able to tell the difference. Yes I can tell the difference. A buddy of mine has a '72 Cutlass 455 that he built the engine to 442 specs, he used to walk away from me when we were horsing around, BUT NO LONGER, I walk away from him. Oh did I mention that he has about $7,000 in his engine rebuild. He is saying that he is going to change his carbs and then he will kick my but again.
