A friend came across this, I though you guys would get a kick out of this
true story.
Joe P

A New York man retired. He wanted to use his retirement money wisely, so it
would last, and decided to buy a home and a few acres in Portugal. The
modest farmhouse had been vacant for 15 yrs.; the owner and wife both had
died, and there were no heirs. The house was sold to pay taxes. There had
been several lookers, but the large barn had steel doors, and they had been
welded shut. Nobody wanted to go to the extra expense to see what was in the
barn, and it wasn't complimentary to the property anyway..so, nobody
made an offer on the place. The NY guy bought it at just over half of the
property's worth, moved in, and set about to tear in to the
barn...curiosity was killing him. So, he and his wife bought a
generator, and a couple of grinders..and cut thru the welds. What was in
the barn...?

Go to; www.intuh.net/barnfinds/afa70.htm and start wishing you had bought
the place.

[Chevelle-list] Wash an LT1

2007-08-17 Thread Dan Mascheck
I have a 46 Chevy truck with an LT1 engine in it with the wonderful
Optispark dist. The engine came from a 1996 Camaro Z28, so it is the later
version. Has anyone washed and cleaned and LT1 before? Any problems?

Re: [Chevelle-list] Vacum continued - Comp Cams Tech

2007-08-17 Thread Bill Vander Werf
I called Comp's tech line one time. I did get a straight answer about a
choice between two cams but I got the feeling the tech was in a hurry to
move on.

I have also called Crane's tech line many times and always got answers to my
questions. They have always been patient and helpful.

A whole lot of good that would do. Last time I called Comp Cams' tech line
I
was put on with someone who was so obviously unwilling to help and
unwilling
to do anything other than punch numbers into his little software. Anything
I

said which deviated from answering his scripted questions was met with an
indignant repeat of the previous question. The whole experience sucked so
bad, I hung up and called Airflow Research instead. AFR was kind enough of
to actually talk to me about what I needed. Comp Cams should throw AFR
some

commission for the order I eventually made of a full Comp Cams valvetrain.

Re: [Chevelle-list] car wash

2007-08-17 Thread 66chevelless396
Let me add to the "never, never" - kids bubbles. My dad has a '33 Nash,
lacquer with Carnuba wax. We used it for family weddings and at one wedding
instead of rice/birdseed everyone got small bottles of bubbles. The bubbles
that landed on the car left a discoloration that required a termendous amount
of elbow grease to polish out as many landed on the double lined hand painted
(3 coats) pin stripe.
