My 65 does not have a plate on the door post. Just the plate on the
firewall, I think they came later.

Hi guys, I need a little help. Im looking at a 69 ss chevelle tomorrow. He
says its all original and he says its an ss. I will be looking at it closely
tomorrow. He doesnt have a build sheet or a protecta plate. This car is a
project car. Everything looks to be there. I looked at it quickly today on
my way to work. Then called him on the phone. I pretty much know what to
look for but is there any one thing that can help me decide. It is a big
block with a muncie 4 speed, it has a 12 bolt, but i didnt check the brakes.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Alex

On newer cars they can be the actual vin. The older cars build date and
location.

Also check under the back seat in the spring coils that where I found my
build sheets.

No plate? Post the vin. Without a plate value is in the eye of the beholder.
Look at the frame rail passenger side by the gas tank. There might be some
numbers there. Use a pencil and paper and do a rubbing.

Re: [Chevelle-list] 1970 chevelle headrests

2011-05-06 Thread Roger Griggs

Does anyone have a black 1970 chevelle headrest they'd like to sell?  My body
shop at some point (Its been down there 2 years) took my seats out and put
something heavy on one of them and cracked the plastic. I've got one great one
and that one.

Thanks for all the help over the years, my body shop and upholstery shop are
finally finishing my car. The car has been in and out of body shops for 7-8
years waiting fot them to work on it "in their spare time".  It was in the body
shop so long that at times I'd forgotten what it looked like. LOL Since this
was
my first restoration, I've been ripped off before I learned any better,  and
this thing has taken WAAAYYY too long. I'm not sure I'd do it again.

Thanks again

Roger

Depending on your state there are laws about removing the VIN tags, I
removed mine during the restoration and I am currently looking for the
correct rivets. I contacted trimtags.com but haven't gotten a reply yet.
They make replacement cowl tags but not Vin tags. You need that tag if you
ever want to sell the vehicle so if you think your painter removed it ask
him for it, I don't know how you will get a replacement and it may be
illegal for him to even possess it depending on your state laws. The numbers
on the frame on a 65 are on the top of the left frame rail between the last
2 rear body mounts.
