Somewhere else to start looking is the pump driveshaft and see if it's
binding up. An oil pump locking up is very unusual.

Hi
to all,

I
am new to the list and I have a question.  I just had the right rear
axle "walk" out of the rear end on my car.  Luckily it didn't come
all the way out.  I assume, from what I've read, that I may have broken
a "c" clip.  Am I assuming right, and how difficult is this to
repair?  I have a 67 big block Malibu, 350T with a 10 bolt rear
end.  I am mechanically inclined but no Master mechanic and I'll be
doing this in my drive way.  Thanks in advance for any
advice.

So you're saying that if someone honestly doesn't know
something about their cars they shouldn't ask a question? Especially since you
think that they are 'the dumbest dumb people'?

This list has the best mix of knowledgeable folks coupled with
people who normally wouldn't even think about working on their car, but do
because they can get good intelligent (for the most part) information, without
being told they are dumb for asking. Sometimes people just need some
reassurance that their line of thinking is correct so that they can move on
  with some confidence.

Maturity and respect for fellow Chevelle owners is what make this list
great. See if you can gather some up.

I have a customer saying that her Chevelle was in a flood and ended up in
about two feet of water. She says that she and her husband are afraid to
try
to start the car because they assume that water got into the engine. Do
you
guys think that two feet of water would be enough to cause engine damage?
I
would imagine that air in the exhaust pipe(s) would prevent it from
getting
in that way, and gaskets should be watertight, right? If that were all
true,

wouldn't the water have to be above the intake to get in? How would you go
about checking it out? Pull the heads and see if the pistons are rusty?

Fred, Vin.

I picked up an 04 Blazer setup. However, there is one
small detail that had to be worked out. Everything
bolts up perfectly. I may have to do a bit of
"clearance" between the back of the bracket assy to
make room for the lip of the aluminum valve covers and
gaskets, but that is the minor deal. The larger issue,
however, is on the small block V-8, the water pump has
two holes on the right side. One is smaller and the
other is a large hole. Now, on the V-6 water pump, it
does not have the small hole like the V-8 pumps. I
taped and pluged the small hole. It's a done deal. It
all fit and hood closes good.

Hope someone else has actual experience with the other
truck parts, I would like to hear about it. My deal
was about 350$ rather than the 1700$ the others cost.

hope this helps.

Does anyone have any experience in this area? I
notice that different years use different brackets.
Does anyone know the best year setup to use?

Any help on this would be great.

been said, they cost more, so are you really saving money? For me, I just

these hybrids should be getting better mileage than they do, I seem to

IMO, it makes no financial sense to purchase a hybrid car at this time
unless a) you NEED a car or b) you can find one used.

Firstly, anyone who buys a brand new car off the lot is throwing away
thousands of dollars right off the bat. That is money that you'll never
get
back. And hybrids are typically much more expensive than regular cars of
the

same size.

Second, buying a car when you don't need one is a waste of money, too.

For example, my daily driver is a '92 Ford Bronco with 4x4 and 5.0 engine
in
it. The thing is an absolute pig and with a 30 gallon tank, it costs
almost

$70 to fill it up. Thankfully, I work from home. When gas prices went
through the roof this past summer, it took me more than $130 to fill it
up.

Even still, the fact of the matter is that I bought the truck used and
paid

cash for it. By doing so, I'm saving nearly $800 a MONTH over what I was
paying for the loan and insurance on the brand new Mustang GT that it
replaced.

When you buy a new car, you're paying a loan, higher insurance costs, and
absorbing very rapid depreciation.

Gas prices may very well spike back up to $3 a gallon this summer, and
I'll

still be ahead of the game driving my gas-guzzling V-8 SUV.

What scares me is the repair cost for that technology. You

I don't know if Buick and Olds did anything like this with their
A-Bodies but Pontiac did something similar with the GT37 in '70-1/2
and '71, which was a T37 (Tempest) with a few upgrades over base
but it could be optioned to the point where it was for all intents
and purposes a GTO with a lower pricetag and fewer insurance
headaches. In fact, it was marketed as "the GTO for those under
30" (sic).
