Alex is right. In 69 there was no SS model; It was an option on the model you
picked. You have a Malibu with an SS option pkg. Mike,69 SS Dusk Blue.

The 136xxx VIN does not mean it's NOT a SS car; anymore than the 136XX does
not mean it has air conditioning, automatic transmission, or any other

It IS a Malibu as far as the state is concerned, options (like the SS

That's true about frames pages, John, the address bar only shows the home
page but that link does work.

I don't see a search engine for the site so one may have to look a minute
or

two to find the page - well, maybe 3 or 4 minutes as their site is always
slow for me.

If one right-clicks on the (silly IMO) wallpaper and selects Properties
they'll get the URL of the specific page. Since there are only two for
Muscle Cars 1968-1972 Chevelle it is easier to find the reference
without

having to click those two links.

Sure, but a link to the HomePage.html page is certainly not a link to
a specific part. Hence, the link is pretty useless. You may as well
just tell people to go to their web site and look it up.

Hmmm... Link worked just fine for me. Even if you go to their root at

have

 Hi Roger,

That link won't work because the Goodmark (ancient) web site is in frames.

You would have to supply the part number for anybody to look it up on

Craig, OPGI shows them in their catalog, but I managed to learn that they have

Just FYI, the 1969 full rear quarters are back in stock. Left front fenders
are also in on the east coast but not the west. Right front fenders are in
on the west coast but not the east (go figure). Both fenders are supposed to
be available on both coasts by mid-March. I'm sure you can get these from
just about any vendor.

The extra body mounts were cushions only and they went adjacent to the front corner mounts under the firewall. Convertible and big block cars got them. All frames are already prepared to have them there so you can put them on should you decide to pull the body off the frame.

hey ron the engine mount tower's are the same small block or big block, only one tower for all v 8 cars, the only difference in your frames are the option bolted to it like sway bars and body mount, 10 bolt rear are fine upto 250 horse after that i would go with the 12 , gl rick

Re: [Chevelle-list] 1969 Chevelle Frame

Let me clear up something about the engine frame mounts on 68-72 specifically. There are 3 different ones and they are as follows: 6 cylinder, 307, and all other V-8s. The 6 cylinder mounts are obviously different. The 307 mounts are in a world of their own and are taller than the other V-8 mounts. You must use a 307 engine mount on any other small block if that's what the car originally came with. The other alternative is to swap out the frame mounts for a non 307 V8 application.

Re: [Chevelle-list] 1969 Chevelle Frame

2005-02-16 Thread Cecil Martin
For engine mount stands this is correct. My car was a factory 307 car
and I had to get the other V-8 mounts in order to put a big block in
unless I wanted to Mickey Mouse it and use 307 mounts (in between
the stands and the engine). There was no way I was going to trust big
block torque with small block mounts.

Now for BODY to frame mounts, there were an extra set that were used on
the big block cars. It's an option when buying body mounts.

I do see on the frame where those mounts would go up front. However, I
do NOT see where on the body they would mount to, unless the factory
welded on a special mount platform onto the firewall?

Anyone have any pics of those inside big block body mounts? I may opt
for it if I can be convinced I will need them with a big block in there,
and they are available in repro.

Did you hook up all the grounds and clean the sockets of any rust they may have had? Also take a small wire brush to the contacts on the bulb sockets as well as the back of the gauge housing to clean it up.

The smiles per mile factor is what the car Hobby is all about I agree
But Wayne has also hit the proverbial nail on the head with his comments on
hours spent in the garage...Pure relaxation

Years ago after a hard day at work I got into the bad habit of stopping by
the watering hole for a drink or two or three after work to unwind. The
wife kind of put her foot down and I picked up an old Corvette and spent
the next three years redoing (not restoring) it in the garage after
work...an hour here an hour there etc... Well when it was finished I was
not about to sell it so I bought another car and repeated the process...
and still am repeating the process

I have been retired since 1998 and My garage has become 2 garages...and
both have been remodeled (enlarged) and now I work on and play with my 5
Corvettes and the Chevelle whenever the mood strikes me.
All my cars are now complete and on the street..(none are 100 percent as
usual) and I am looking for another project car (hopefully not my last) to
fill the last available bay in the one garage.

But looking back. Those hours I have spent in the garage sure beat sitting
at a bar, or going bowling etc...and the trips I have taken with those cars

[Chevelle-list] 1969 Chevelle SS for sale

2004-10-14 Thread Craig Cerena Robertson

Anyone looking for a 1969 Chevelle SS to
restore? A friend of my just found one. It does need total restored
but he has the number matching 396 engine. It appears to be an original 4
speed, bucket seat car but the 4 speed is not there. The guy who had it
was in a wheel chair and they were going to turn it into an automatic but never
did. The 4 speed was already sold. The car is located in Western
Maryland. I will make a list of what the car has this weekend. He is
going to be asking around 5000.

TOTAL restoration means different things to different guys... to me it
means at least $10,000 out of the wallet and 100's of hours in the garage

restoration means simply to get it on the street with no mechanical

I agree Bob and if you take those hundreds of hours
and put a price to it cause in my book time is money, lets see, 10 thou
for resto, 5 thou for the car, lets go with a cheap rate of 28 $$ an hour, times
ah 110 hours, that equals 3080.00 total for the hours, when all said an
done 18,80.000, well seems alot for a 69SS unless it was the 300 model i
guess and with the Yenko Option. Ken. better smoke another one

I am with Ken - that missing the trans will never make it a true #'s car.
Also is there should be some documentation to prove that it is a true Super
Sport since after '68 the SS was ordered as an option and was not included
in the VIN. I am also with Bob that a total restoration means total - in
my schooling, total means a frame off with everything needing rebuilding or
replacing has been done with new sheet metal replacing all rust.

2004-10-14 Thread Mike Holleman

Guys, I do restoration work as a profession. On average, a
complete restoration will require between four hundred and five hundred hours. I
can generally do a car in six months. Five thousand is cheap for a complete car
such as this one.(if it is complete except for trannie and the body is
solid)Unless you are planning on showing the car in AACA national events
the trans is no problem. People are way too hung up on "numbers matching". A
nicely done 69 SS 396 will bring over 20,000 even after you drive it for a few
years. Put more value on Smiles per Miles and less on the trans is not the one
that came in the car.
Just my opinion.

2004-10-14 Thread Slate1994
a 69 chevelle ss that needs complete restoration, lets see ,figure 2000 for interior needs. another 3000 for engine work , and a good paint job will set you back a 3000k tranny there another 1200 rearend there another 500 spent, then you have chrome and trim chauk up another 1000 then you have a hole list of things that need to be replace springs shocks bushings just to name a few , drive shaft there a another 200, i dont think you can restore a chevelle with less then 10 k in parts alone, then the time 400 or 500 hours seems small more like 800 hours, and that if you know your way around the chevelle, (now its true i do everything twice it seems), and if you want to go back to bone stock you can add another 2k, to to the kitty. ten years ago i could restore a chevelle for 7k in parts but nowdays it so much more, and if you want to trim your car out with leather add another 1000 grand to the pot, before you know it your 5k over budget, then you have to cut your labor in half to make up the difference, a fair price for a 69 chevelle ss that needs the works is 1200 at best , i just turn down a ss car just like you describe and he wanted 900 for it,, my best advice for someone who wants to restore a chevelle , buy the poorest looking chevelle for a few hundred dollars, and build a clone. like one of you said in 69 the ss was a option ,unless you have a build sheet you cant prove its a true ss, if you start with a 5k car and you drop 10k in it, you have already exceeded the value of the finish car,, if you look at the chevelle's on ebay you see alot of nice cars but they dont sell over 18k unless there a post car or yenko cars, then the guy asking well over 40k,, if anyone would like to buy a post chevelle non ss but it has all the ss stuff you would like to see, i have one for sale and it will only cost you 20k this is a small price to pay for what your going to get, completely new 396 400 tranny 12 bolt posi ss hood , this car has the f40 or f41 suspension, boxed control arm with sway bar which by the way is factory parts, not aftermarkit, it has date coded ss rims, tilt , non a/c car disc brake new bumbers just about everything on this car is new or rebuilt orginal equipment, car has never been started yet i was trying to finish it all before turning the key, all i like is tires exhaust and sail panels, that about it , i was going to ask 25k for the car once finish, i have another 69 chevelle, that i cant wait to start on this car, this car is very special i figured the value will be 50k without the build sheet, this is a special paint car, but when im done it will be a copo clone, 427 4 speed car morocco orange, or rally green not sure yet about the color, thanks for reading my ramblings on jim

That's true. The re-pops don't look exactly like the originals. The re-pops
are not hard to find. I assume you are talking about the originals.

I hope you got a good price on that grill. It's not like those are hard to
find either, and the repros are fine.

I scored some great deals at Englishtown Sat. I got a set of NOS GM 1/4's
for my 69. They had been previously installed but never painted and in the
factory black primer. The guy who removed them did a good job of cutting them
bigger than the 1/4 so it's all still there. (They'll obviously require some
tome to remove nicely, but time, I can manage!) I am going to use them on
my ragtop so I will have to cut them up anyhow. $200 for the pair! I also got a
set of BFG Drag radials that look just about new. 275/60- 15 for $100. And we
didn't get rained on! Couldn't have asked for more!

i saw the 1/4s behind your truck when i was walking past a little later, looked in pretty good shape. i spent most of my $$ with Ground Up, i found a few other odds ends for my 69 as well, the trunk of the 70 went home full, lol. thats another thing, it took me 4 hours to get home, i left at 430 got home at 830, what a mistaked that was, should have stayed a while longer. by the way, did ya get to go down and get a good look at my 70?

Unfortunately I was in such a buying frenzy that I pretty much skipped the
