I have two questions 1.) where does the bottom end of the front coil spring sit in the lower control arm ? the deepest part is after the 2 weep holes clockwise looking down. 2.) should there be rubber spaceres between the spring and fram/ control arm ? I've done this before but I don't think I did it right. driver side sat 3/4 in. lower than pass side. thanks for any help, Jimmy .C

When you put the spring in, you need to rotate it until it 'falls' down into the lower control arm correctly. It will kind of stop when its right. yes there are spacers that go on top of the springs, i believe. Depends on the year. Some control arms are indented for the end of the spring. I did not use spacers on the front the rear had them on top. What year? On later years (68-72) the end of the spring coil is suppose to be located between those 2 holes. IE One hole will be blocked by the spring one hole will be open when viewed from below.. John I've done it a few times, one thing to remember is that the ratio isnt 1:1 but around 2:1 on our cars, that means that if you cut one inch off the spring it will lower the car approx two inches. do not use a torch but a cut off wheel on a die grinder and wear safety goggles. Bob,
If your running a small block, you can
raise the front by putting BB springs in the front. If the springs in back are
40 years old you may get the lift you want simply by replacing them with new
ones.

Station wagon springs. A friend had done it to his 65' Impala in the
mid 70's. Went to the
dealer and ordered them. So I went and asked the dealer to get the
springs for a 65' Malibu
station wagon with air. The front end was raised 2" and realigned for
1/2 /and 1/2. It took shock
extentions on the rear. Now a days, just order what you want from the
host of suspension
companies out there...

if your looking to return the car's height to where it started out at good luck, chevy made many different spring's depending on the option's on the car, to my knowledge no one make specific springs for different weight cars, that's whyI tell everyone don't spare the penny when you buy springs, go with moog they cost more but you should get the feel and height your looking for, good luck
