[Chevelle-list] Happy New Year : Door Hinge

2008-01-02 Thread ronnie, a.k.a. rocko
Hello, just wanted to wish everyone on the list a happy new year,
i did miss the year of ricks car on the door hinge issue, i have
a 67 and someone told me in order to get to the hinge bolts one
would have to remove a fender, instresting, never considered taking
removing the door, was just wondering if the same method would work
on a 67, thanks, ronnie

Ronnie Happy new Year back at ya. My elky is a 72. The hinges are
probably very similar in design if not identical. I removed the 3 bolts
holding each hinge to the door. I drove out the hinge pin and left the
chassis portion attached to the body. Basically rebuilt it on the car.

If you do it this way be absolutely sure to tape up the rear edge of the
fender leading edge of the door. I also used a couple of old beach
towels as bumpers. Also people have highly recommended marking the
location of the door side hinge so you can get it close on the
reinstallation.Rebuilding the hinge was easy (once I got the drill
spring tool) , it was the reinstallation and realignment of the door which
took time.
And finally, on my 72 at least, I it looks like I could have rebuilt the
lower hinge without completely removing the door. But it was impossible to
reinstall the hinge pin on the upper because of interference with the door
sheetmetal. Lastly, if you do rebuild yours, make sure that the flutes
at the head of the hinge pin are not too long. They should only be long
enough that they engage the metal of the hinge not pass into the
bushing. If I find my camera I'll post pictures.

Sorry to hear of all your troubles and
medical problems Larry. Glad to hear that you are taking steps to control your
diabetes and that the lump was nothing serious. Also glad to hear that you are
working on the car, maybe we can meet up again at another
Chevell-abration.

Pete, Do you know how to do a print page and copy it into Paint? If
not let
me know and I can walk you through the steps and show you how to save
any of
 the pics that you want.

Well I did until now!
When I have that screen up nothing seems to happen when I right click,
that's how I normally get things copied from ebay, photo albums, etc.
Not too good with secret key strokes though so if there's a way to do it
off the keyboard I don't know it.
It's not real pressing really, but you'd think they'd make that an
obvious option so you can take picture to dealer.
Thanks.

[Chevelle-List] Happy New Year

2003-01-01 Thread Smith Family

Hi guys, I'm L. Michael Smith; Pres and originator of "PACE"
Palmetto Chevelles in So. Carolina.
I'm very thankful for this Christmas and, now, New Years for
many-many reasons, but, mainly for the fact that I totaled my S-10 extd cab on
Christmas eve.( hyroplained-did a 450 deg.spind, then flipped siedways 2
1/2 times-landing upside down in 3' of water,in the big storm that hit
Charleston SC about noon),with a good friend aboard, and we both walked
away unscaved. Being home and not in a hospital/morgue was shear
luck.
NOW- HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YO ALL and please STAYSAFE out
there.

[Chevelle-List] Happy New Year from Old Car Network

2002-12-31 Thread John Nasta
Happy New Year everybody,

The Old Car Network New Year sale has officially begun. You can take an
extra 5% off any web site order over $50 up to $1,000. This is on top of our
usual automatic discounts of 5% off orders over $100 and 10% off orders over
$500. This discount applies to all items, even those that say no further
discounts apply. The offer expires at midnight tomorrow (GMT I would
imagine, since that's what our server is on). This may be a good time to
think about key items like sheet metal, exhaust systems, and upholstery
(finally, all the Chevelle, Skylark, GTO upholstery is listed - Skylark
colors to follow).

In any case, just throwing it out there for the Chevelle list. Just enter
the Coupon Code NEWYEAR during checkout.

For those who don't know, the web site is at http://www.oldcarnetwork.com

Peace, good health, and happiness to all of you.

John Nasta

My appreciation to John also. And
all others that contribute to this list. I thought I knew everything there was
to know about old Chevy's till I listened to you guys. lol... Really tho I
am enjoying this list more than any that I am on. My 67 is coming along slowly.
Got too many honey do's to work on it as much as I would like. But I am learning
things that will help me down the road for sure. Top of the new year to
all!!! Thanks,

Happy New
Year..

Please Be Safe...

Lisa and I just returned home
after witnessing a "Tragedy", A Grand Sport Corvette in the middle of an
intersection hit by some careless/mindless kid out for a joyride in his
"Momma's" Car.No injuries other than a once pristine collector car now with
months of work to return to service...
(if at all!)

Guess he'll have a Holliday to
