Re: [Chevelle-list] Re:I wish you the best on your CAR, BUT.
First time I saw your question. Don't know about the grill but on the dust covers, this is what I did on my Nova. You should have gotten new staples with them. Hold the cover up to your fenderwell and use a very small drill (same size as the hole in the fenderwell)and drill into the rubber. Then use abigger drill and drill into the rubber only, to enlarge the holes.Push the staple through the holes and bend them over. I used a body hammer and dolly to do this. Drill the next set of holes and do the same. It will help if you have an extra pair of hands to help as it's hard to drill and hold it at the same time. I did mine while the fenderwells were off the car so this made it easier to work on. Hope this helps you out. Oh, and opinions are like a**holes. Everyone has one. ( I just had to say that) Seriously though, we do talk about Chevelles 99% of the time. If a subject doesn't interest you just delete it. About your grill, call one of the vendors and ask them about the black paint. They'll know. Obviously Larry has an opinion. I've received it three times in my email-box. Do you people talk at all about Chevelles here? I've posted a question twice today with no response. I joined this list to talk about Chevelles, not other people. Lets try this one again... I have a 72 Chevelle that I recently purchased a grill for through ebay. It has some blemishes in the black grill. The seller tells me these won't show when its painted. I didn't think it was supposed to be painted?...anyone know? Also, I want to install the control arm dust covers onto the steel wheel wells with the staples provided. Surely there isn't a staple gun for this. Do I pilot drill each staple?

Thanks! I'm working the website right now. I just have to find a way to make it a Secret link from my primary web page. See, the story goes something like this: My Dad had a '69 SS when I was about 3. He ended up selling it (regrets it to this day.) Since I'm in the military, he hasn't had the chance to see mine yet. I'm keeping it a surprise for when he comes up to Alaska to visit next summer. I'm gonna toss him the keys and tell him to go out to the garage and take her for a spin.

This is one of the few mail lists that DO stay on subject and not wander too far. I can't talk for the others, but Diane, I have not received any emails from you anytime today as I don't empty my mailbox till the end of the day. It's safe to say the mail here on Chevelle list is not fool proof. I must also say, I am not an expert on 72's but, as far as I remember, they don't paint their grills whether SS or not. And... I don't know how you would install dust covers with staples, unless it's to the original covers?..? The repro 72 grills come black. They dont need to be painted. I think the move on the staples is shove them in and then bend them down with a pliers. I'm not sure though. I did not see your question either. John Nasta
Re: [Chevelle-list] Re:I wish you the best on your CAR, BUT.
Diane, With the dust covers you will have to drill each hole and place them and bend them by hand. They are a bear to bend also. A trick I was taught by Gilbert Propes (restoration guru) is to use picture frame wire from a hobby shop. It bends much easier and will stay put just fine. Trooper P. S. You might lighten up a little. I didn't get your first posts either and displaying attitude is no way to get advise. Diane Peppin wrote: Obviously Larry has an opinion. ___ Chevelle-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://chevelles.net/mailman/listinfo/chevelle-list_chevelles.net

I figure it will take him back to his glory days for a spell. If I have it posted on the web, he'll see it, and then the surprise is wrecked.
