Title: Message Yes, I'm sure they mean the uppers. They told me that unless I was drag racing and needed to control wheel hop, that I should leave my rear pretty loose. They advised that I leave in my ancient springs and upper arms with loose bushings, use their lower tubular arm, and no rear sway bar. This is for a small block 1967 with their entire front end kit. I swapped to the stiffer springs after driving for years with the HO Racing springs, which were not as stiff as I wanted. Talk to GW and see what they say. I was surprised that they told me not to buy rear springs, upper arms, and a sway bar. I'm impressed when a vendor tells me not to buy one of their parts because they are not needed. RE: [Chevelle-list] pro touring
Hey Brad, I'm right there with you. Starting with my second car, a '78 Z28, I quickly found out how much fun it is to go around corners. Every car I've had since then ('85) has been set up with corners in mind - shocks, springs, anti-roll bars, lowered, wide low profile tires. I'm sure there were a lot of people like us so a name for that type of car had to be created sooner or later. RE: [Chevelle-list] pro touring
You got that right Clint! If you see my Elky on a trailer there are two possiblities, a. it was stolen b. because I'm getting transferred and there's no way I'm letting a shipping company take possesion of it! LOL... Actually the concept is way cool, but now it seems like it is becoming over done. I personaly hate trends. I like my rides to be different... especially when you hean to a show or the track and there are ton of chevelles, novas, camaro's, and mustangs about. Need to stand out. Plus I'm a sucker for the street rodders way of doing stuff. Some of the coolest and smoothest final tounches and some really original ideas. I think it was Hot Rod about 3-5 months ago had the editor write on this concept on the little editoral page in the front of the mag (I thought it was hilarious as I think the car mags out there, especially hot rod and car craft played a big part in hyping up this concept). It was one of the best articles I ever read. Talked about how some many Pro-touring cars were becoming much like the Pro-street cars of the 80's that most of them dispise so much. He commented how they looked nice but were posting very Honda-like times at the strip and still getting wasted by a sock 3rd gen f-body, none to less a vette at the road course. I dunno, Maybe I'm just getting old. One man's junk is another man's treasure right? Re: [Chevelle-List] pro touring
Yes Clint, I think Mark stielows The Mule camaro have a 4-link with coilovers, the only thing I would add is a panhard bar if the car doesent have it. A friend in norway have a rally car with 4-link as well, he do use a watts link to keep the axle laterally. I'm not sure of difference between the two. btw my t-5 setup arrived today :) André > Thank you,Herb. Maybe I can end up with an Elky that's 1/2 as nice as your '66. > Just wondering out loud but has anyone seen or read of a ProTourer wit h four link & coilovers? I'm just wondering what mods,if any,I will have to make to convert this car to one. > Clint Hooper > LT5 Registry Director > Wichita Falls,Tx > (940) 855-6636 > '91 ZR-1 Callaway Aerobody > TX TAGS: USA ZR1 > http://www.LT5Registry.net/ > '69 El Camino Pro Street > - Original Message - > From: Herbert Lumpp > > Clint, > > I just looked at the pictures you sent of your new Elky and I wanted to say congrats and let everyone know that hasn't seen the pics, Clint found a sweet lookin' ride!!! > > cYa- > > Herb Lumpp > 1966 El Camino > ACES 3509, MCC 528 > http://users.adelphia.net/~hlump/ > > - Original Message - > From: Clint Hooper > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Sent: Saturday, November 30, 2002 11:24 AM > Subject: [Chevelle-List] '69 El Camino photos > > > I emailed some photos of my 69 Elky to Dale McIntosh.
