filter snmp MIB send out on a router [7:44777]

2002-05-22 Thread Adam Wang

Hi group,

Is there a way to filter the SNMP MIB sned out on a
cisco router.

For example, I want a community string only send out
router interface status info.

How would I accomplish this?

Thanks

ATM with 7200 and IMA with CES [7:29368]

2001-12-16 Thread Adam Wang

Hi group,

I have a few 7200 with ATM-CES adapters in them. I
want to depoly them over WAN with a 4.5 meg bandwidth
to each. The telco handed to us 3 T1s. I would
assume an IMA device of some kind is needed here.
However, I still want to use the existing ATM-CES
adapters for this case. How would I set this up if I
use a Cisco IMA adapter? Are there any other external
IMA mux besides the cisco's IMA adapter that I can use
with my atm-ces module, and are less than $5000?

I'm new to ATM, so any input would be greatly
appreciated.

channlized T1 into different VLAN config [7:8783]

2001-06-15 Thread Adam Wang

Hi group,

I have a router set up with 3 channel groups on the
serial side, and 3 VLANs using 802.1q on the ethernet
side. I want to use RIP2 for routing.

How would I setup routing so that the traffic always
follow the same path between the serial and ethernet
back and forth.

ie, s0.1 always goes to fa 0.1, s0.2 always to fa 0.2,
etc.

Thanks

you might look into ip unnumbered as well, as this

you could also bridge and make the box at the other
 end of the serial link
the default gw for the boxes on that vlan.

Hi group,

on the FT1 WIC card. If not, when will this command
work, and is there any way to have multiple grouped

Thanks.

RE: passed CCDA [7:1653]

2001-04-24 Thread Adam Wang

Point taken. Thought about it again, this frustration
mainly came because I didn't document any scenario at
all. I just did every one by a quick browse. The
impatience added up after 30-40 questions here and
there.
Maybe meaningless, just curious what those acronyms
mean?

Half your luck if you can. Most people I know work

 Hi group,

Passed CCDA today. 72 question, 755 to pass, scored
 854. The exam itself is not too hard, but the way
Cisco presents the scenario questions is very
 annoying.

4 scenarios are scattered among the 72 questions.
What I mean is you got 1 question on case 1, the
 next
question on case 4, then some non-scenario
 questions.
Then a case question appears again in the middle/end
 of the exam.

I guess it's because of the random selections of the
question pool. But I feel I have been tested more
 on
my memory than my skill of design. I have to
 refresh
my memory of each senario once in a while during the
 exam.
I hope Cisco will make some change in the future:
Randomize each scenarios, but not mix the questions
among all other questions in the exam.

mentor tech and global knowledge [7:1811]

2001-04-24 Thread Adam Wang

3rd day into my CID course with Mentor Tech. The
instructor Bill McInerney, a CCIE, seem to be a
well-rounded knowledgable guy. Good teaching skills
too.

Took a Nortel VPN class with global knowledge a few
weeks back, the instructor was not very knowledgable,
even in the security aspect (misinterpret/can't answer
a few questions). Not well-prepared for the class
(can't find an important command because of an OS
version upgrade).

I'm planning on taking a CCIE lab course soon. I know
the above may not be a good comparion. Has anyone
taken Global Knowledge's CCIE lab course? How good is
their instructing quality?

I'm leaning toward Mentor Tech. Bruce Caslow is
teaching the ECP1 now, and I heard other known CCIE
book writers are also teaching there.

Can anyone shed some lights on the comparison of both
CCIE lab courses?

backup subinterface on another subinterface

Hi group,

I have 2 PVCs setup using Frame Relay on a serial

I did backup interface s0.2, but it won't allow a
subinterface on the backup command, only the physical
interface. So backup interface s0 is possible.

Why is that and how can I do this

Thanks for all your input on setting up a floating
static suggestion, but the 2 PVCs that I have are both
active and in production, and each is carrying
different type of traffic.

They are both acting as primary links. I want to set
up something that if one fail, it will jump to the
other one. I don't think floating static will work in
this case.

Route the traffic over S0/0.2 if the primary link

You have to be careful with the administrative

If you are running a routing protocol (OSPF, RIP,

 distance 0 and a route
