RE: Programming Language for Network Engingeers. [7:58032]
VB Is usually a good one to learn for a network engineer. Given that most of the systems I work on run some form of windows, I found it to be an easy language to learn and very useful for creating quick custom tools that the end user may need (such as logging into all the routers and saving the Config to a tftp server every day). Other then that just learn scripting languages such as VBScript for windows and SH for linux/unix. RE: Re: Fw: New CCIE Written Exam [7:57341]
maybe.. but I too would like to know exactly how much focus the exam has on Token Ring and bridging (srb, rsrt, rsrb) and atm.. I do not think that violates the nda... now if you gave an example of a question - that would probably violate the nda. -Original Message- From: B.J. Is there as much emphasis on the RIF and etc as there used to be. Also- how much VoIP and MPLS should we know. RE: Redistribution metrics. [7:55297]
What difference does it make when I say default-metric 1 100 255 1 1550 instead of the above. answer: EIGRP uses a composite metric so you would be changing the bandwidth (1) and MTU (1550) for routes from ospf that were redistributed into EIGRP. All the metric does is set a base metric to start from. Since a redistributed route did not originate from that router then it does not have a metric to assign to it and therefore can not run DUAL (or SPF for ospf) hence you have to assign a metric to that route so that the route has metrics associated with it. I hope this helps and if I was incorrect about anything then someone else please correct me. - Brian Clark -Original Message- From: Rajesh Kumar [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, October 10, 2002 11:40 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Redistribution metrics. [7:55297] Hi all, Everytime I get confused with this metrics while redistribution : The scenario is this : 1. Redist from OSPF to EIGRP. router eigrp 1 redis ospf 1 default-metric 1544 100 255 1 1500 router ospf 1 redis eigrp 1 subnets default-metric 25 What difference does it make when I say default-metric 1 100 255 1 1550 instead of the above. Does the metrics points to the destination interface ( metrics ) where it is redistributed into OR it points where the routes are originated from ( ethernet interface or serial int )? RE: Cisco Netacad for 640-603 [7:52358]
I took this, and the Cisco Press CCNP BSCN Certification Study Guide. I found that doing the 640-603 was probably the best thing I did to prepare (other then practice labs) The interactive labs were great, and if you make note cards of everything you feel is important while going through the course you will pass. It had been a year between my CCNA and when I studied for 640-603 and I had forgotten most everything, and had not touched a router since then. This course was a great refresher and helped me pass the exam my first time. - Brian -Original Message- From: Jason Weden [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, August 30, 2002 7:57 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Cisco Netacad for 640-603 [7:52358] Hello, Was wondering if anyone has taken the Cisco Network Academy semester-long course (sem. 5) for 640-603 (Routing)? If so, did you find it alone was a good prep for the exam? my posts [7:51786]
Why does it usually take 30mins to 1 hour for any of my e-mails to reach the group? is there some sort of problem with my setup (I simply email [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- is there a diff e-mail I should use) or does it just generally take that long?
