2002-02-18 Thread Hehdili Nizar

look to some sites as :
www.cert.org
www.packetstormattack.com
www.securityfocus.com

to get some procedures for testing firewall installations , otherwise you
must get in touch with experts to evaluate your configuration and the
vulnirability degree of your firewall.
there are also some remote scanning tools , in internet from security
websites.

Re: sometime can't ping AIX server, why? [7:30905]

2002-01-04 Thread Hehdili Nizar

First ,
- try o fix the mode of the interface full duplex or half duplex and not
auto negociate in both sides ( PC and AIX ), with the switch it must mach
the AIX
(you can use auto-negociate)
try to configure en0 because most configurations that we have done with pcs
are configured with en0 ( problem of ethernet format , ieee and ethernet
v2 )
another thing don't forget to make the interface up after the configuration
, this can be done by activation menu from the configuration section.
-try the command ifconfig en0 or ent0 to test the interface en0 and ent0
-try to see the /etc/hosts you should have only one interface IP address
near the host name of your RS/6000 and the loopback address

- test the arp table of the rs/6000 to see what happen in it with the
command arp -a
- use the command netstat -a or netstat -s to see what happen for the trafic
normally these are the main problems if the problem persist contact me
again.

IPSEC stands for a standard for IP encryption , it uses multiple algorithms
for encrypting IP data .
you can use it in routers , firewalls , dedicated hardware boxes and with
some software clients.
with IP sec you can use encrypted tunnels to send your traffic over internet
or intranet and you can use it between any type of the last devices.
You need a good design to use it well , tell us more what are your needs and
what is your environment and we would try to find the best suitable
solution for you.

Re: CID: Token Ring and Mainframe computer [7:25166]

2001-12-14 Thread Hehdili Nizar

it can be connected also directly by using an OSA token-ring adapter in the
HOST and its configuration in the mainframe is similar to the CIP card on
the router , they are both generated by an XCA node .
there many types of OSA cards that work with both SNA and IP , they use
Token Ring or Ehternet or even Fast Ethernet and GigaEthernet.
their behaviour is the same as the CIP router , but the diffirent is with
the router you can move some processor intsensive tasks in the router from
the mainframe
such as TN3270e and TCP offload.
off course for both CIP router and OSA card there are some funtion that you
can not use such as SNI function of FEP wich consists of routing between tow
FEPs in SNA subarea environment. This needs migration from Subarea to APPN.

yes , it can be connected directly with a token-ring adapter installed on it
, this adapter is called OSA card and you could use it for both IP and SNA.

Re: Dial up and Leased Lines Solution [7:21660]

2001-11-01 Thread Hehdili Nizar

Hi ,
- about dial up connections It depends on your requirements and protocols
used , because you can use E1 PRI or T1 PRI modules or E1 channalized with
miC R2 it could be possible to be supported on ASxxx by connecting 50 E1
channalised cards in multiple AS5xxx
- about leased lines , you need a design based on three levels :
the core layer
the distribution layer
and acces layer

it is not a good design to connect directly all the mleased lines to one
equipement if you make a drawing it could be betteer

Re: Virus scanning through PIX [7:23215]

2001-10-19 Thread Hehdili Nizar

No , there is no way to integrate PIX with an anti-Virus , there is no
similar CVP functionality in PIX .
You need to put an Anti-virus wich acts like a proxy enough to caputre all
the trafic and then redirecting it to the destination , but PIX treats this
traffic as a normal traffic it does not care about , my advice is to
invistigate in the
Anti-Virus products and , dont be aware no problem for any product to be
supported by PIX because there is no interaction.
