Re: [Timed Access Lists]

2001-01-26 Thread Ravi Kumar

hi friends

I am also looking for this type of solution

I want to give www access to specific users at one time and other group of
users at another time.

Please give me few tips.

[EMAIL PROTECTED] (Timothy Metz) wrote:
Has anyone ever used timed access lists?

I'm wondering if I can specify multiple times and days and still process
through the list or will I exit the list after a test condition is
compared... This is getting hard to verbalize but I'll give it a shot...

ie:

I want to limit www browsing on one time schedule during the week and a
different time schedule during the weekend.

Setting up two time ranges is not a problem

Now I need to write the access list

deny tcp any any eq http time-range no-http-weekdays
deny tcp any any eq http time-range no-http-weekends
permit ip any any

will this work or will http traffic exit the list after the first test
condition?

Thanks

Tim

Re: [IOS Upload]

2001-02-08 Thread Ravi Kumar

hi

Iam ravee from INDIA.

I pressume before u upload, your router is working fine with xyz IOS version.

and pressume you have backup of that ios in TFTP Server.

try to upload your older version.

from rommon, i hope you know how to set variables for ip address, subnet mask,
gateway, tftp server and its image name etc.

then run tftpdnld command.

if you are getting timed out message during upload, it could be problem with
your tftp server. (I did face same problem)

setup another tftp server and try from it. (see that tftp server is in same
lan)

suggestion required

2001-02-08 Thread Ravi Kumar

hi friends

iam ravi kumar from hyderabad, INDIA.

please consider my client's following requirements and suggest approriate
hardware and IOS for it.

1) my client has head office and factory, which he would like to connect
through 64 KBPs leased line with IP / IPX routing and Voice communication.

2) he would like to have another leased line to internet for web services.

3) he has 5 branch offices at differnet parts of the country, and would like
to connect these branch offices to head office servers through VPN. (each
branch office has one pc, one dial-up modem and internet connection)

I did suggest following things.

3600 router with ip / ipx routing, VOIP and vpn support at head office.
2600 router with ip / ipx routing and voip support at factory.

now my queries are

a) which IOS should i buy for head office router to support ip / ipx routing,
voip and vpn?

b) which IOS should i buy for factory router to support only ip / ipx routing
and voip?

c) do the branch offices require any VPN client software for getting connected
to head office through internet?

expecting your earliest positive responses.

with warm regards
ravee

tanx in advance.

Hello group members,

I would appreciate if someone could answer my questions.

QUESTION # 1:

The scenario is that there are two Cisco routers. RouterA is a 2610 running
IOS 12.0 and one of the BRI interface is connected to Internet using NAT.
RouterB 1603 running IOS 11.2 is connected to RouterA on another BRI
interface.

How can users who are connected to the Ethernet interface of RouterB have
access to Internet via RouterA.

QUESTION # 2:

Since every BRI interface have access to 2 ISDN B-Channels, can one of them be
configured to connect to Internet and the second one to a internal wan link.
But we can only configure BRI interface with either ip nat inside or ip nat
outside and not both. So how do I go about having both, i.e., connect to
Internet as well as internal WAN link through the same BRI interface?
(Assuming IOS version 11.x and 12.x)

I keep referring to IOS version because I think version 11.x does not support
NAT and 12.x does. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks in advance.

Faisal

I know that the link shows backup ddr, but you could modify the config so
that there is no Serial link between the routers and you wouldnot need the
floating static route... the async dynamic routing command allows the route
updates across the async link.

I have had to do this sort of thing for remote offices that needed to open
before the telco could get their frame circuit installed. It works...

Hi,
In the BCRAN book by Catherine Paquet, it mentions the command for
setting
up a PPP call back client as
ppp callback initiate (page 127)
whereas on the Cisco site and the config example (on the same page) the
command shown as
ppp callback request
(http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/793/access_dial/isdn-ppp-callback.html)
Which is correct?
Is there a difference between Async callback and ISDN callback setup??
'cause if you search for "callback initiate" the results show up for all
async related stuff and for "callback request" all ISDN stuff.

Am confused!

2600 router - help required!!!

2000-08-30 Thread Ravi Kumar

hi friends

I am going to buy 2 no. of 2610 routers with 2 port sync/async card.

my queries are

1) will this card support both leased lines and ordinary dial up lines at a
time (one port for leased line and another port for dial up logins)

2) if it support PSTN dialup lines, how many it will support at a time??
i.e. can i fix 8 port octal cable into one of the interface so that i can have
8 simultaneous logins from remote locations???

3) i need CSU/DSU cable for back to back connectivity between 2 routers for
simulating WAN environment. where do i get that cable? will the same cable
which i am using for 2500 series routers work??

your help in this regard is highly apprecaited.

bye
ravi kumar B.

deep trouble

2000-08-31 Thread Ravi Kumar

hi friends

I am in deep trouble. help required

I am ravi kumar from HYDERABAD, INDIA

i have a 2503 router in my office. recently we got ISDN connection from local
basic telephone service provider (DOT) and bought ISDN internet account from
local ISP. I want to provide internet access to all my staff through this
router.

i configured my router's BRI 0 port with following commands for DDR.

1)router# config terminal

2) ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 bri 0
and
3) ip router 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 next hop count

3) dialer-list 4 protocol ip permit

4)interface bri 0
(i did not assign any ip address to bri port, since ISP server will give ip
address to port once connection is established)

5) isdn switch type basic-net3

6) isdn spid1 <7digit number>

7) dialer-group 4

8) dialer map ip nexthopaddress numbertodial
(basically ISP will give only phone number to dial. but by using isdn card in
my pc and dialing to ISP, i got dial-up server ip address. i used this address
as gateway address for my router)

9) encapsulation ppp

10) ppp authentication pap username xyz password abc

11) dialer idle-timout 30

after this i saved configuration and rebooted the router.

if i run show ip interface, it is showing bri 0 is up and line protocol is
up.
but if i run show isdn status, it is showing bri 0 layer is deactivated and
layer 1 is not active.

my queries are

1) is this configuration is right or wrong?

2) if it is right, how it initiate the call to isp?

3) if it is not right, pls let me know step by step cofiguration to dialup
ISP.

your help in this regard is highly apprecaited.

regards
ravi kumar B.
