so, let say if I am looking for a switch adding to my existing network, is
it worth to purchase cat2901 instead of an expensive cat5000? Also, does
the cat2901 support slot modules?

Guys!! Rather than comment on anyone else (I mean the ones who have the
same goal as us), why not we raise our main concern to Cisco, this is a more
positive way than just critize others. Maybe I am too subjective to your
comments, but I personally think criticism on people is not the main point

Chuck, although I tend to agree of what you said on your message, I don't
think you are in the position of criticizing anyone with any kind of
questions. I do think some of these people sometimes do nothing but just
want to get benefits out of the list, but look! they won't get through the
CCIE path at the end of the day. If you don't like to reply to these guys,
just shut up and do your own work!!

Again, I always think the purpose of the list is to share Cisco knowledge
around the world, I am sure there are people willing to share knowledge with
us.

6509 MSFC problem [7:10057]

2001-06-26 Thread Ronald James

Hi,

I have two 6509s (A&B) with two MSFC on each running mslp and hsrp. Did
anyone heard about there's problem running mslp and hsrp with four MSFC
failover? the problem is that there are only two MSFC failover but don't
apply to all four, if you have experience on this problem, please help! The
other problem I've had is that, assuming there are only two MSFC running
active & passive mode, it shows status is 'others' instead of 'ok', anyone
knows what's happening? My guess is on the active node(Switch A), hsrp
already failover to the passive(Switch B) one, so layer 3 is fuctioning.
However, the Switch A still passing traffic to the associated MSFC, so it
causes traffic jam in Switch A, but in fact the traffic should go through
Switch B instead. Please suggest...

how you will succeed if you don't have lots of reading before you get into
real practical...?? huh...
you got the point, one reference book is not enough.
the CID book from ciscopress is pretty good; again, find something else too,
such as the cisco website, it has lots of materials, that's my
recommendation.

don't 100% got your questions, but let me try it. beta exams are usually
under this format, more questions with more time, and it will take longer to
give you the exam result; so, the current production ccnp exams still as is.
to me, reason of providing ccnp beta is interesting, perhaps cisco got
another poll of questions, i guess.

ATM switch for CCIE [7:38903]

2002-03-19 Thread Ronald James

I am looking for a ATM switch, other than LS1010 or LS100 as mentioned by
some of you earlier, is there any cheaper solution? Say, would other brand
of ATM switch would do the same thing since I understand you don't need to
config ATM switch in lab exam anyway?

thanks...

Hope you can help:

anyone can explain the differences between cat5 series IOS and the rest of

what IOS the cat5 is running?
any lower models which supports the same IOS as cat5 with lower price?
Is the enterprise version IOS is the same as what cat5 series can provide?

Re: In defence of Brad

Although I never purchased anything from Brad, I would say if he can offer
equipments to the list at a fair price(which he did), why not? Concerning
he do business in this list, well, frankly speaking, he did contribute to
this list, and some of the tech people within the list. Most importantly,
he can help us to get the low-priced equipments, plus he is able to make
money out of that. Then, we are in 'WIN-WIN' scenario, why not?

2002-07-28 Thread Ronald James

ladies & gents!! before u made any attacking or too exaggerated messages to
other countries, please consider!! otherwise u are violate the states is
the most freedom countries in the world i never tried their products
but if it runs the same cisco ios or something copying cisco's design, just
escalate to cisco and let them handle it, since we actually don't know their
business deals behind, agree?

2002-07-28 Thread Ronald James

please, please, don't make any attacking comments to other countries before
u find out the truth, if this is a copy action against cisco, just escalate
to cisco, that simple !!
it seems to me your discussion is a bit off now, please do focus on our
concern and suggest constructive advices.
