RE: How to Restrict multiple login?

2001-02-22 Thread martijn michiel

You have multiple options in radius for restricting your users.

If you, in Unix, cannot prevent double --- User Authentication then
double Line Authorization should be prevented.

- one source ip per user account after dial-in
- caller id per source phone per user (telco support)
- disable multilink (w2k)
- static route per user (w2k)or from cisco to radius (multi-cisco/mutliple
telcolineno's?)
- certificates and securID's will also close down mulit login/dialin actions
- connection type isdn number, async
A lot of these items ar supported through PPP.

I saw something about usertables, did not dive into that one. No unix guru,
sorry.
Radius is my thing, because i'm w2k mcse (no comment please)Still a bit of
GUI guy though.

Accounting Attributes
For RADIUS accounting to function, a series of accounting attributes are
defined in the dictionary file on the RADIUS server and appear in the start
and stop accounting records. Use the following descriptions of common
accounting attributes to help you interpret start and stop records. Refer to
RFC 2139 for information on other accounting attributes.
Called-Station-Id and Calling-Station-Id
Called-Station-Id records the telephone number called by the user.
Calling-Station-Id records the number the user is called from. This
information is recorded when the NAS-Port-Type is ISDN, ISDN-V120, or
ISDN-V110 where supported by the local telephone company. On the PortMaster
3 and the PortMaster 4, this information is available for asynchronous calls
as well, where supported by the local telephone company.

Onderwerp: How to Restrict multiple login?

Hi folks,
I am working in an ISP company, got Cisco 2511 router with inbuilt
RAS(access server), IOS ver. 11.3(9).
I am using RADIUS from livingston ver. 2.0.1 beta 14 revision 5 for windows
NT4.0 and Netcents ver. 6.0 for billing. I have contacted the netcents
people and they says that the single/multi login facility is available with
RADIUS only and not with there netcents billing s/w. And i think the RADIUS
ver. that i am using is not supporting this single/multi login features. And
i am going to use this RADIUS b'coz its free.
How can i Restrict my customers for single login and multi-login into my
cisco router. B'coz using the above radius and netcents i cannot block multi
user login in my network. Can u guys suggest some solution using the above
only s/w's. And I am creating users in netcents+radius and these users are
not the router users.
Is their any way thru cisco router commands to restrict my customers for
single login?

Thanks in advance.
waiting for your reply.

kind regards

RE: RE: How to Restrict multiple login?

2001-02-23 Thread martijn michiel

Viaks, you stated that you were going to use radius. That is where you feed
a lot of user auth items, also the ones you ask for. As I stated, via
radius, you can do a lot. For Cisco commands, check

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/access/acs_serv/5300/case/qccase.htm#xtocid216396

Good luck.

The url

http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/110/mailserver_in.html

access-list smtp permit tcp any host 209.164.3.5 eq smtp
access-group smtp in interface outside
static (inside,outside) 209.164.3.5 192.168.2.57 netmask 255.255.255.255
gives a good example of pushing smtp from the outside to the inside without
a dmz. A separate IPaddr is used though.

Ofcourse the traffic allowed to get in is depending on an access-list... so
you just let trough what you want to. Then make the static translation.

Be waware that this is not a very save solution.

Sorry all .
My primary message was quite messed up . I just corrected it .

Well .
I am reconstructing the Network of a 10 storey building with 10 to 150 nodes
per floor . about 75 meters tall .
I proposed to use a collapsed backbone structure with 2950T switches for
the floor with 50 nodes .
For the collapsed backbone , I proposed two catalysts 6000 switches with
Supervisor Engine IA and MSFC and PFC (for layer3 connectivity)and multiple
1000BaseT(16) modules for both distribution layer and core functionality .
and redundant connectivity to access layer devices .
I proposed to collect all the servers in a server farm and to connect all
the servers directly to the 6000 switches(here is one of my problems should
I connect to servers directly to core , or should I concentrate them on
a seperate switch and to connect that switch to core) .
For security , I proposed a DMZ , internal , perimeter structure with a PIX
525 in between . all the remote connections and dialup connections are
concentrated on a 3660 router in the perimeter zone .

Here are my other problems :
Not sure whether I should go for 6500 or 6000 (I don't know whether the CEF
and SFM will help me that much or not)
I don't know where to find a complete listing for all the components I need
for each device and the related part numbers including cables and power
supplies ,...

Any other comment on the design are appreciated .

Thank you all for the time and help .

Cisco IOS Technologies: RADIUS Support in Cisco IOS Software
http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/cc/pd/iosw/ioft/iolk/tech/rdius_wp.htm

I have a quick question about Radius Authentication and the Win2K Server
Internet Authentication Service (IAS). We have finally decided to go with
Radius authentication for our network equipment. This after my boss asked
me to change all the passwords and add usernames to every switch and router
in the network (over 300 devices) and I was supposed to do this every 90
days. So I asked him if we could look into Radius Authentication. It looks
quite simple but I am not sure if there are any tips or tricks that I need
to know about Cisco devices authenticating to a Win2K IAS service. I am
sure someone in this group has come across this and was hoping you could
tell me of any pitfalls or 'gotchas' before I get started.

Thanks in advance!

RE: Cisco Syslog [7:15211]

2001-08-16 Thread martijn michiel

there is a 3com utility 3cdeamon.
It works on win though.

martijn
watch the name when replying, should be martijnmichiel@

The Syslog Server in 3CDaemon provides the following features:

BSD-unix style syslogd functionality. (No RFC here - its a unix thing...)
Allows filtering/restriction of syslog messages by IP Address.
Allows logging into via message priority, message facility or IP address.
Allows viewing of the log files while active, plus copy to clipboard or
print
Produces standard ASCII text files, suitable for including in emails or
faxing.
Prints IP address(es) on which it is listening.

>
Why another TFTP Server? Doesn't 3Com already supply one?

In the beginning, there was 3CTftpd, which was a small TFTP Server program I
wrote so that 3Com customers could upgrade their 3Com equipment.

3CTftpd begat 3CServer, which was a more full-featured TFTP and FTP server I
wrote. This eventually became part of 3Com's Transcend Network Management
product.

However, it soon became apparent that our customers were using 3CServer for
a lot of other things, in addition to upgrading their 3Com boxes. I was
getting a number of enhancement requests. In order to accommodate these
requests, I took another look at the code, and tried to implement as many as
I could.

There was a problem, though. 3CServer was now part of a different product. I
spoke with our Network Management folks, and we agreed that we didn't want
the two programs getting in each other's way. Therefore, I decided to rename
my newest incarnation to 3CDaemon.

I'm confused! Which one should I use?

It's really a matter of personal choice. If 3CServer fulfills your needs,
then by all means, continue using it. If you want or need some of the extra
functionality provided by 3CDaemon, then use it instead. Either one will
work for upgrading 3Com products, since they are adapted from the same code
base. Since both are freeware, I don't make a penny off of them either way
:)

So, what's new in this 3CDaemon thing?

New interface. Lot more extensible, so that I can add sub-programs more
easily.
TFTP Server:
Support for RFC 1782, 1783 and 1784. Block size, timeout and transfer-size
negotiation.
Faster. See speed comparison chart below.
Prints IP address(es) on which it is listening.
FTP Server:
Supports PASSIVE transfer.
Supports Netscape/IE4 browsing
Supports 32 char passwords.
Passwords are MD5 hashed. This should provide adequate password security,
yet at the same time still be exportable.
Prints IP address(es) on which it is listening.
Syslog Server:
Added Syslog functionality.
Logs all syslog messages received.
TFTP Client:
Support for RFC 1782, 1783 and 1784. Block size, timeout and transfer-size
negotiation.
Stores addresses of frequently accessed hosts
Supports multiple file transfer, or directory transfer

Lots and lots of other little fixes and enhancements. Play with it. I'll be
adding more as time goes by.

Totally Unscientific Speed comparison:

(i.e. These are numbers I got transferring the same file between two PCs on
the same hub. Your mileage will vary...)

Get 13.3MB File Put 13.3MB file
3CServer TFTP 75.5 secs 77.1 secs
3CDaemon TFTP 48.1 secs 46.4 secs
3CDaemon TFTP with negotiated 2048 blocksize 16 secs 15 secs
3CServer FTP 38.9 secs 57.6 secs
3CDaemon FTP 15.4 secs 16.1 secs

Can anyone tell me how to activate a Unix syslog Daemon to create a syslog
server. I would appreciate any information you have. A web site with good
information would also be appreciated.

Regards,

Rico

Comment on ccbootcamp ccie testengine [7:42365]

2002-04-23 Thread martijn michiel

Some earlier communication between dennis l. and myself about the ccbootcamp
test. May I say Upfront that the quality of the bookcontent itself and the
content of the questions is GOOD, compared to the rest. Also the service I
enjoyed as an european from ccbootcamp sofar has been GOOD.

The reason I post is because I maybe can help the listmembers help choosing
the right gear for their quest.

>>
To straighten out a misunderstanding, I was not having problems with the
registration, but with the engine as a whole.

After about 30 mcp and ccxx cert's, beta's for selftest and as an ex- mcp
trainer, I hope can say the engine is not what it supposed to be.

THE OPPOSITE of what is one the inside of the book, thanks to you.

Monday I graduated the old written (tried the 351 Friday, is a huge one),
with a little luck but lots of hard work.

Have bought my set of 4 foot green cpress books, some discounted because of
the move to second editions and new covers.

Thanks, boson 3 helped.

I'm sorry that you had problems with the CD that came with the book. I
understand this has been a problem for many people. I was not aware the
company that published the book wes going to require customers to go through
so much work to get the license activated, and I've asked them to change
this for any future projects we do together.

I did notice that the Boson exam you registered is an older one, and I would
recommend you take advantage of the free download to update your questions.
The newest version will have over twice as many questions, and have a lot of
early bugs worked out. To get the update, simply download the newest
version from the Boson page and it will install automatically and your
licensing should be maintain. If it gives you any trouble, please feel free
to contact either [EMAIL PROTECTED] or myself.

Lastly, I maintain a webpage with some documents specific to the 350-001
exam. Again it's free, and you'll find the most updated materials on RIFs
and the boot sequence. The webpage is at www.laganiere.net

Thank you, and good luck with your studies...

--- Dennis

Condoleances. This is a major tragedy. Not for the steel or the concreet,
but the brothers, sisters, sons and daughters, fathers and mothers that died
so ..
