One last response:

I misunderstood also. I thought the objection you'd raised was to the value
of a glossary of terms and that it wasn't worth having to wade through a
Cisco promo. I apologize for the confusion too.

Between the two of us we did pretty good, huh!

I don't have a problem with people telling us about books. That's a good thing.

Regarding my book having a copyright of 1999, so? It teaches a network
design methodology that is timeless. I know of only a couple minor
anachronisms in it.

Sorry I caused such an uproar! Puh-Leez do NOT respond to this message.

I know I will receive criticism from this post, and that I rarely contribute
(because unlike most of you, I have a real job, and limited time to read
posts, let alone reply with long winded replies filled with the same content
that can be found with a 30 second search on CCO) but there's a lot more
stuff to be complaining about than marketing pitches on this site. Like
people who ask the same questions that can be found in the archives, but are
too lazy to look through them. Or the people who constantly schmooze up to
Howard and Pricilla because they've written books.

Top down has a copyright of 1999... We are almost to 2001. Please stop with
the posts about it. If people want to compliment Pricilla on her book,
don't do it on the list. We all know its out there, we all know its about
design, and it has useful material on it. So, get back to work you sissies!

I understand your point, every Cisco freebie has an attached Cisco "Buy
This" promo attached. Priscilla, your book had a promo attached last year.
I'm not comparing the knowledge "Top Down Network Design" contains to this
book at all but am making the argument that everything that could be used as
a reference in any capacity has some value.

I could see arguing that the free clock offer of late is completely
marketing dept. driven but I really think complaints about a glossary of
terms is going overboard. That's my opinion though.

Wrong list again, Howard. That's twice today.

Discussion of reels should be directed to one of the classic film lists. :->

Shameless vendor plugs? Like a DB60?

Shameless crossover, rollover cables...the mind reels.

While not a "learning" type of book a glossary of terms is sometimes a
useful reference. It really depends on how exhaustive the glosary is. While

I agree with Priscilla, this list is a voice of technical knowledge and
camaraderie, it is important to maintain integrity on all fronts even if
that means banning shameless vendor plugs.

Yikes. Do we really want sales pitches from Cisco on this list? I don't
think so. We already knew about the free book. We are very good at keeping
each other informed on free books from Cisco! &;-) We have also had some
technical discussions on wireless, including Aironet. But stuff like the
text below is clearly marketing-generated and not what we want on this
list, with all due respect to the writer.
