RE: Recent One-Day Lab Takers?? [7:33592]

2002-01-30 Thread McCallum, Robert

Come on mate where's your sense of humour.

BTW Jason is right the mouse new it was in for a hard time when it saw me so
it bolted.

As for Brussels you do not see any equipment, you are just sat in a
classroom with keyboard, monitor, mouse (sometimes), pens, pencils,
sharpener , rubber (eraser for the Americans) and paper. You can wander off
at any time to get yourself a "free" can of coke or tea / coffee. I would
advise this
as you may as well bloat yourself with liquid as the lunch is a buffet
selection of continental type rolls. For us Brits sweet rolls with some
form of strange meat on them doesn't really appeal, in fact they were quite
rancid. I couldn't find a decent roll despite my 6 times of trying. Next
time
I'm going to bring in a packed lunch, with a Capri Sun just for luck.

I had asked for some honest advice as to what router models I needed to
'simulate' the actual lab at home but alas...some people seem to have
wasted their time in replying some irrelevant answers. Sad..

Does anyone know what telnet client you get to use in the lab? That could
make a BIG difference in how well you are able to work?

It's sad that you are supposedly a CCIE candidate and you cannot read the
web site stating what equipment you are expected to know for the exam. On
top of that you request people violate the NDA they signed by telling you
the exact composite of the rack!

I don't believe that "Cisco Nuts" is breaking the NDA by asking what
equipment is in the lab. Cisco gives this information out freely on their
site but they have a habit of not updating it when they add new equipment to
the lab. It's bad enough we have to fork out all that money to take the lab
(the average is about three times). The least we should know is what
equipment we're going to be working on so we can simulate our home labs to
match the actual lab. Just my opinion.

It's sad that you are supposedly a CCIE candidate and you cannot read the
web site stating what equipment you are expected to know for the exam. On
top of that you request people violate the NDA they signed by telling you
the exact composite of the rack!

RE: Recent One-Day Lab Takers?? [7:33592]

2002-01-30 Thread Thomas Crowe

Several, working on routers, servers, etc every day I have come to really
appreciate a good telnet client! Some clients have better scroll back
buffers, better aesthetics, adjustable fonts and sizes, etc etc. I could
easily see that having a 25% affect in the time it takes to complete some
tasks. I base that on how long it takes me to do things using my preferred
client vs. CLI telnet or for console access Hyperterm (yuck yuck). Now that
the lab is only one day, time is critical!

RE: Recent One-Day Lab Takers?? [7:33592]

2002-01-30 Thread Mark Odette II

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the issue your referring to nothing but a
mental issue?!?!

A Cisco Router is a Cisco Router is a Cisco Router. They all operate the
same, some just have faster CPU's, more memory, and different interfaces for
certain advanced tasks. In terms of Interfaces, most of the time, from a
"Config-Mode" point of view, you should already be aclimated to the fact
that on any one platform, you specify interface-interface number, or
interface-slot number/interface number... i.e., "int s0 or int s1/0 or int
fa0/0".

The rest is just symantics of how the specific IOS version does different
tasks. It's those tasks that you're being tested on, not how to configure
them on a specific router and/or switch.

As long as you know HOW to configure the tasks that are specified by the
test objectives, and the "HOW" is tricky, because there are at least 2 or 3
"creative" ways to accomplish the goal at hand- You just have to pick the
one that Cisco wants.

So, who cares if you have a replica of the LAB rack... it just may give you
a false notion of what to expect anyway, and you might get too
over-confident in your preparation.

Just another perspective to look at... especially if you are on an extremely
tight budget on this journey.

Mark

RE: Recent One-Day Lab Takers?? [7:33592]

2002-01-30 Thread Cisco Nuts

Thank you Shawn. That's exactly what I was getting into...Infact, replied
personally to Mr. c1sc0k1d...

All: I DON'T want anyone breaking the NDA. Please Don't.

I am busting my b studying for the Lab and also have busted my savings!!

To reply to Mr. Odette II, it's not the point of configuring this or that
etc. etc. using any router models.

A Cisco Router is a Cisco Router is a Cisco RouterFalse ;->

Cisco clearly states the router series on the ccie page but not the exact
router models. What I am driving at is if I setup my home lab with the exact
router models and practised on it day after day, when I actually go for the
Lab, I would feel much more comfortable working with
them.psychologically perhaps ;->

Thus: As someone had mentioned earlier; When I drive, I am thinking about
the lab, when I eat, drink or sleep I am thinking about it...It's 'haunts'
me day after day

So if it is indeed breaking the NDA, let these fruitless emails stop and
let's all get along and go back and hit our racksI got the point. :-)

I'm surprised. In san Jose, they are in big red/orange cabinets next to the
cubicle you work in. You have to go over to the rack to check dial
tone/ring on your VoIp Phone... and to align the flux capacitor.

I saw my gear in RTP as well. Except in RTP they said not to touch the flux
capacitor as the proctor already calibrated it before the lab started.

You'll go blind if you touch your flux capacitor too much.

RE: Recent One-Day Lab Takers?? [7:33592]

2002-01-29 Thread Cisco Nuts

'simulate' the actual lab at home but alas...some people seem to have
wasted their time in replying some irrelevant answers. Sad..
