Re: AGS+ Router Question [7:38726]

2002-04-25 Thread Brian

Sorry I am late to post on this.

AGS+ is going to be alot more inexpensive than a 2522/2523.

However, personally, I would go with a 4500M, which is a *very* fast
router for lab use, and later on can support fastethernet and atm modules
as well.

4500M with 4-port serial (NP-4T), and 1-port ethernet (NP-1E) is $500
$600 and I will include 4 dte/dce cables for hooking up your routers.

I have a small book I am writing that I will be publishing on the net for
free and it gives lots of tips on equipment selection, look for it.

Just a normal 25-pin straight-through cable. No rolls, no crossovers.

Re: AGS+ Router Question [7:38726]

2002-04-07 Thread Jeffrey Hall

I've just gotten one of these wonderful (and loud) AGS+'s from a seller on
Ebay. When I received my shipment I had the router only, no manuals, no
cables, etc.

I have had no luck finding what kind of console cable this router uses as
I've already tried the standard Cisco flat console cable.

Anyone know the correct console cable for the AGS+

TIA,

Jeff

2002-04-07 Thread H Howard Lewis Bloom

That is what I want to know as there is what appears to be a good one
on Ebay.

Right now I've got 4 Routers and a 2924 XL EN switch.

All Running 12.2 FW IPSEC ENT and all 16/16.

I've got a 2514 actually routing my internet to comcast cable and

2514
2522
2503

I thought the AGS might round it out so I can do the really complex
labs.

Are they worth a couple hundred dollars for 8 eth 8 serial, token
ring, etc ..

Have you ever seen one of those AGS routers humming away? :-) Let's put it
this way... they use standard 110V power, alright, but draw upwards of 7
AMPs.

Not only that, but they have a high-output fan blower assembly that runs
right off the 110V main power. No dinky 12V fan here! :-)

In short, they're loud, they're power hungry, but they're also FAST and very
suitable for low-cost Cisco lab racks!!

It's standard 110 Volt right?

it should be free, since it'll cost a fortune
to power it.I got a 4000 with a 4 port serial
module to do the frame switch part, works great and
