RE: Cannot add dialer map statement [7:27078]

2001-11-21 Thread Mark Odette II

Upgrade the IOS remotely, or have someone put a modem on the AUX port, along
with a phone line, remotely configure the router to allow dial-in through
the AUX/Modem connection, and then shutdown the BRI interface and configure
other changes.

... Or walk someone over the phone / pay someone to visit and make the
change for you / go to the remote location yourself and make the change via
Console connection.

My best practice is to always have a Modem connected to the AUX port for
emergency remote maintenance. Just be sure to keep the Phone Number to that
Modem secure.

Subject: Cannot add dialer map statement [7:27078]

Hello colleagues,

I am trying to add a dialer map statement to a dialer interface
configuration. Even after removing the existing dialer map statement, upon
entering the new one the system tells me that it cannot add the dialer map
because there already exists a dynamic one. There is nothing showing in the
running config, so I don4t know where the dynamic entry is stored. I have
heard that this problem can occur with early IOS versions and that the
workaround is to shut the BRI and then add the dialer map. This is not an
option for me because I have to add the dialer map remotely. Does anybody
have an idea ?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Hans

2001-11-21 Thread Shah Nick

By the looks of it, this router (this dialer profile) is dialled into some
destination, in which case you will have to drop the channel/disconnect and
only then will it allow you to add the dialer map, and thats what it may
mean by dynamic dialer exists.

Jenny's option will basically achieve the same thing, if you reload the
router without the dialer map statement, it wouldnt dial automatically upon
reboot, and you can safely add the new dialer map.

Hi,

Since your accessing this router remotely over the
ISDN I'm assuming thats whats building the dynamic
map. If you do a 'show dialer map' you should see the
maps in use.

You can copy existing cfg into notepad then modify it
and save it to a file then do a 'copy
tftp://x.x.x.x/filename.txt startup-config' to put the
new config on the router as the startup config.
