RE: VPN help please [7:43746]
I am having a similar problem. We have users with iPaq handhelds connecting to 3000 series with Movian client. Movian client 1.0 works, but the newest Movian does not work. Version 2.0 I believe. But, version 2.0 does work if the username/password is internal user to the concentrator. We do our authentication via Radius server to NT accounts and if they user their NT accounts, it won't log them in. But if I create a user on the 3030, they connect. I am currently working with Certicom on this issue but nothing yet. Starting with VPN...help...
Hey Group, Just found out that I'm going to be a huge part of the VPN implementation where I work at. I need some info on which books to get. Let's pretend I have no clue how VPN works. What books will teach me from start to finish? I have been recomended Howard's "WAN Survival Guide : Strategies for VPN's, Multi-Service Networks, and Mobility" and have also found Cisco's "Enhanced IP Services for CISCO Networks: A Practical Resource for Deploying Quality of Service, Security, IP Routing, and VPN Services". What do you guys think. Thanks. Mark Z. _ FAQ, list archives, and subscription info: http://www.groupstudy.com/list/cisco.html Report misconduct and Nondisclosure violations to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
RE: Starting with VPN...help...
I am a little biased since I authored the chapter, but check out chapter 4 of Syngress Media's BCRAN book (the latest). It has several VPN scenarios and configs as well as an explanation of ESP,AH, DES, Triple-pass DES, TRIPLE DES etc. As well as some good explanations of ISAKMP, IKE and how they fit together what they are. etc. Let me know what you think of the chapter, and if it was usefull!! -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Monday, February 05, 2001 9:39 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Starting with VPN...help... Re: Starting with VPN...help...
www.firstvpn.com (research section) proved useful when I implemented VPN. Doesn't include book listings that I'm aware of but it had a lot of comparisons and information. Don't know how up to date the site is. Hope it helps. [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote in message [EMAIL PROTECTED]">news:[EMAIL PROTECTED]... Tayo, Check out this link on IPSec Encryption between Cisco and CheckPoint. http://www.imtek.com/IPSec.html This question shows up on the CheckPoint list every couple of months. The link above details someone's successful application. -Original Message- From: Tayo Dada [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Tuesday, October 03, 2000 9:42 AM To: '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' Subject: checkpoint firewall to cisco router vpn help needed!!! hi all, i am trying to create a vpn between checkpoint fw1 version 4.0 and cisco 2503 ios jos56i-1.bin. i am getting these areas when i use a crypto debug: Router1# 1w3d: %CRYPTO-4-RECVD_PKT_NOT_IPSEC: Rec'd packet not an IPSEC packet. VPN help
I have a client that has a small office of 3 computers (all running Windows 2000 Pro networked together via Ethernet)(Site A). One of the Windows 2000 Pro computers at his office acts as the 'server' and has a DSL line connected to it. He has a computer (Windows 95) in his mother's home running DSL (Site B), one in his home running DSL (Windows 95)(Site C), and a traveling laptop with a 56K modem (Windows 9x)(Site D). My understanding is Windows 2000 Pro doesn't support VPN so... What hardware and/or software product is best for creating a VPN over the internet? What server products and what client products are best? Thank you, Dirk Lakeman **NOTE: New CCNA/CCDA List has been formed. Re: VPN help
You sure can, but as with any Microsoft networking using IP, it's almost a black art. You'll be happier if you run WINS on the PDC and setup entries in your LMHosts.
