Re: [CMLHope] posting my blood panel results today

2013-05-14 Thread Myvety2k
Hi Jeanie, your test results have me beat by a mile and I started Gleevec
on Jan. 9th 2000 at 300 mg. each day. Here are some of my results.

WBC 5.9
RBC 3.71 L
Hemoglobin 12.5 L
Hematocrit 37.3 L
MCV 33.7
MCHC 33.5
Platelets 176
RDW 13.5
Absolute Neutrophils 3.4
Absolute Lymphocytes 1.8
Glucose 95
Blood Urea Nitrogen 18
Calcium 8.7
Protein Total 6.9
Albumin 4.2
ALT 31
AST 39 H this the 3rd time that it's been this high in over 13 years. It
was 51 a few months ago but the Doctor told me not to worry about it.
Sodium 140
Chloride 105
Potassium 3.9
Creatinine 1.44 H it's been between 1.1 to 1.4 going back to 1997 before I
found out I had CML. I found out that I had CML two weeks before
Christmas 1998.
I would like to get my RBC higher but my Doctor keeps telling me to just
leave it be. Like they say if it's not broken don't try to fix it. They
was a time that when I first started taking Gleevec my WBC dropped to 2.6 and
told me not to worry. Dam it's hard not to worry when things like this
happen. They see these results on other people but we don't so it's hard to
compare what is good and what's back.

Anyway your tests look good so keep what ever your doing and don't change
anything.

Take Care,
Greenie

Hi Jeannie,

All I can say is WOW!!! You sure that you have Leukemia? With counts like
that it sure doesn't show.

Don't worry about your sugar counts just try and eat more sensibly, and
that includes your Cholesterol

As Far as your Creatinine, it is fine don't worry about it. Your doing
remarkably Great!

I now present you with the "{{Robes of The Survivor}}" Wear them proudly.
I also now share my Number 1 rating in The Zavie's Zero Club with you. Do
you know what that is? If not then just let me know and I will explain it
to you.

By the way, you have proven exactly what the menaing of 18's really are.

So glad to hear these test results. Just awesome. I remember your past
struggles.

I go tomorrow for my sixth month Doctor visit. Am curious to see if mine
are still stable being on 200mgs instead of the 400. Will be hoping for
these good blood counts as yours. :)

God Bless,

[CMLHope] Re: Arthritis ?

2013-05-14 Thread Suzieq
Jim: I had this discussion with my Chiropractor not to long ago, even
carried him the drug information that Novartis sent to me about all the
side effects. The reason for me showing this to him, he has treated me for
some time now saying that I had arthritis that has set up really bad in
both Sacroiliac Joints and now I have it in a joint right behind the second
toe on the left foot, and am beginning to think it's beginning to set up
some in the right hand. We think that the Gleevec helped to "expedite" the
arthritis along. I will turn 60 in September, so I expected to suffer
later on in life, not this early. There have been times I can't even
stand up straight. I have an appointment on June 3rd with an orthopedic
surgeon to get his opinion about my lower back problems. I suffer a lot
from sciatica going down the back of both legs at times, and lately I've
been getting around with a cane.

I discussed the "arthritis" problem at my last doctor visit at the cancer
center. She said that they have had some patients who have had to go
through chemotherapy and noticed that their arthritis lessened while on
Chemo, but as soon as they finished with the drugs, the arthritis pain
came right back.
I think I even asked about "Celebrex", but seems doctors are hesitant
about prescribing that. Right now, my regiment is 325/5 Hydrocodone along
with Advil Liquid Gels. I hate taking drugs, but the stabbing pains at
night into my hip almost makes me cry, so go ahead and take it for the
relief.

Thanks,
Suzieq

Potassium 3.9
Creatinine 1.44 H it's been between 1.1 to 1.4 going back to 1997 before I

I would like to get my RBC higher but my Doctor keeps telling me to just

here in Fort Myers once a year that way I would be getting my month work
every 6 months instead of every 3 months. It's up to me. So that's good news
and they put me into another study with 2 other people plus some in other
countries. Good to here your doing O. K.

these good blood counts as yours. :)

Re: [CMLHope] posting my blood panel results today

2013-05-14 Thread Myvety2k
Hi Jeanie, I was born in Chicago Southshore Hosp. my family moved to
Hobart, IN. 2 years later and I lived in the area most of my life except 4
years in Springfield, MO. Moved back to Porter, IN. two miles from Lake
Michigan but the winter was hard on me so we moved again to South Fort Myers,
FL.
a little over 2 years ago. My much, much, older brother lives in Naples,
FL. I miss my son and his family but I just can't take the cold weather.
I was in a study at Northwestern back in 2000 with 200 people nation way
before Gleevec was approved by the FDA. Their was 8 of us I was the only one
from Indiana and the others were from the Chicago area. So I was a very
lucky person to get picked back then. Gleevec was called STI571 back then,
It saved my life.

Anyway your tests look good so keep what ever your doing and don't change
anything.

Re: [CMLHope] Re: Arthritis ?

2013-05-14 Thread Marty Gartenberg
Hi Suzieq,

just something to think about... When I was first diagnoised they started
me on Hydroxy Urea and Allopurnial. It wasn't the hydroxy that I questioned
because I knew why they were giving it to me. It was the Allopurnial. That
is used for controlling the gout. I was told that having CML that was newly
diagnoised could also cause some very painful gout attacks. I have been on
Allopurnial ever since and no more gout attacks. Gout is a form of arthritis

Maybe part of your problem could be gout??? Why not ask your doctor if this
could be part of the cause. It never hurts to ask questions.

18's,

Marty

Re: [CMLHope] Re: Arthritis ?

2013-05-14 Thread patrickemailguard-goog
SuzieQ, Marty is right on target. I don't know how I read your post without
thinking of gout. The explanation I've been given is that as the medications
kill off leukemia cells the dead cells release uric acid into the bloodstream.
Since it's in higher levels than the liver is equipped to eliminate the excess
remains and can crystallize. The crystals can then accumulate in a joint (the
big toe is the most common for some reason) causing what we call
gout.Unfortunately for me I had an allergic reaction to allopurinol but luckily
never had any problem with gout even without it.

Advil Liquid Gels.  I hate taking drugs,  but the stabbing pains at night into
