It is a wonderful piece of hardware, I am looking at one now, the Beneteau Part

Hi Dennis,

I actually was impressed with the ones I saw on a Beneteau - Gasp! Please
don’t kick me off this list guys! They were simple pushbutton to open, spring
loaded and automatically lock every time. The pin from inside, can easily be
opened if trapped inside. One of the good thoughts I had seen on a b.

However, these old hasps probably don't comply with ABYC.

The solution is probably some swivel style hasps like these:

The reason I haven't replaced them or flipped them 180 degrees is because I

club, and the windows are the newer “go fast” style, so I know the windows
changed in appearance between 1978 and 1980. If your 1979 boat has the

1978 boat. If your 1979 boat has the newer windows, you better check with Rob

changes. I’m guessing not, but you never know.

Stus-List C 34 Cockpit

2019-01-08 Thread Rob Ball via CnC-List
All the 34's used the same deck mold, so any change would be a very big deal .
. .

The windows can be changed quite easily - it's a removable insert in the mold.

As long as it's a 34, and not a 34R or 34 +, the decks were all the same.

I suppose you could change the helmsman's hump, but that was my pet project, so
anyone changing it would be shot . .

Cheers,

Re: Stus-List Speaking of cockpit locker latches

2019-01-08 Thread Bill Coleman via CnC-List
Regarding the hatch latch issue, I too, was not happy with those drop hasps,
and after seeing a J24 sink like a stone as a squall ran through a big charity
regatta here several years ago,

(the cockpit hatch lid opened in a knockdown, and water sucked into the boat
through the cockpit seat). I realized my boat could also sink that way in an
extreme situation.

I looked at a bunch of boats, and also was impressed with the Beneteau cockpit
latches, and bought 4. I guess I really liked them, because I only needed one.
It is a wonderful piece of hardware, I am looking at one now, the Beneteau Part
number is 917520, called a Catch Spring Lock. You can put a little lanyard
(Monkey ball) on the inside to open it from the inside.

The solution is probably some swivel style hasps like these:

The reason I haven't replaced them or flipped them 180 degrees is because I

Not directly related, but I've figured out that the light colored interior on
my 1994 C 37/40+ is lacquered, not varnishes.  Removing old lacquer is much
easier than varnish.  50/50 mix of lacquer thinner and denatured alcohol does
the trick.
Hope this helps

Happy New Year all.  Cheers from the balmy Straits of Mackinac.  My new-to-me

thinking I could re-varnish the interior starting with companionway steps.
Then, I ran across a fairly new product, apparently, called Rubbed Effect Low
VOC Satin Varnish by Epifanes.  Blurb says it needs to be applied over at least
2 coats of regular-style bright varnish.  Product is water based, and the
