Re: Stus-List My outboards..

2019-12-16 Thread Marek Dziedzic via CnC-List
I used something similar to this:
https://www.amazon.com/Kool-Products-Retail-Flexible-Replacement/dp/B07HRFF4LW/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=no+spill+spout=1576526251=8-5
 – it works fine, but the ribbed spout will break eventually (and you may not
notice).

Lately I bought a similar design, but this time with a transparent (fuel line)
spout that is not ribbed, just flexible. Works even better. But I don’t use it
on a boat; just for filling up the snowblower (a bit more solid platform you
stand on, compared to a boat).

However, handling a 10 l (or even 5 l) tank on a boat is always an issue.

For filling really small engines (e.g. gas-powered yard engines), I use a very
large syringe (something like this:
https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/motomaster-auto-fluids-syringe-0283046p.html?rrec=true#spc
). Mine is all plastic and much less sophisticated, so it was 1/5 the cost.

The brand is “No Spill”. Real mixed reviews on amazon. Seems the company has
been bought out, newer products aren’t lasting. I was looking at just the
spout, as I have plenty of small motor cans, but it seems the cap size is
proprietary and won’t fit other brand cans.

I have a couple old fashioned metal cans with the spring-loaded handles
that I love. They do not let ANY gas smell escape, so they don't smell
up my car.  I got the first one for free when someone left it in our
"freecycle" spot, AKA next to the dumpster*, and I liked it so much I
bought a second one. I think being well sealed from atmosphere and light
allows the gas to keep longer too.

* I know, who the heck would take an old gas can home? I was going to
pass but it looked brand new and was pristine inside and didn't even
smell like gas. It literally had never been used.

I'm not 100% sure but I think the outboard with an internal fuel tank are
gravity fed. You would most likely need a fuel pump of some sort. With no
battery the could be difficult to rig. As for the other option "spill proof"
gas can. I tend to spill more fuel with them than to old style. I like using a
1gal can, easy to handle, doesn't take much room. JMODoug. Doug Mountjoy Sv
