NEED HELP (was: util.xsl not found problem)

Has anybody fixed this problem with Cocoon 1.8.2 on
Tomcat 3.3 ???
If not than I will try to fix it myself. Any help is
very appreciated.

Re: a little question

2001-11-12 Thread Drasko Kokic

Hi Brian,

this is exactly what I had to do to make it working
under Tomcat 3.3
It is not really elegant solution, as you have to
maintail the system logicsheets outside the cocoon.jar
!!!
How can we make the "resource" protocol working under
Tomcat 3.3 (crimson+xalan)???

Thanks for your comments

Cocoon 1.8.2 on Tomcat 3.3

2001-11-03 Thread Drasko Kokic

Hi there,

would anybody know if there is a new version of
Cocoon1 which is fixing the problem with resource
loader when used on Tomcat 3.3 ?!
Is there any new patch release being planed or Cocoon1
finished with version 1.8.2 (from 26.01.01)?!
Is Cocoon1 website being updated, as there is no info
about installing it on newer servlet engines?!

TIA

C1.8.2 and C2.0b2 questions

2001-09-12 Thread Drasko Kokic

Hi there,

I have two points that I cannot resolve properly:

1. I have introduced my own logicsheet and it is
working except that the session objects are not
generated automatically even thought I still have
create-session="true" atribute in the xsp:page node.
My generated Java code has the following in:
  HttpSession session = request.getSession(false);
which is wrong !!!
How can I propagate the atributes thrue my logicsheet?
I already have the following in:
...

...

...

Is this not enough???

2. More conceptualy, I need to request in my XSP code
a PDF file from some BSS and "forward" it to the
client browser without any more modification. Is this
possible in C1 and/or C2? How?!

Thanks in advance
Drasko

Migration C1 to C2

2001-08-21 Thread Drasko Kokic

I am trying to migrate one of C1 applications onto C2
platform. I have problems with following
classes/objects/methods: session, servletContext,
sendRedirect.
I know that redirects should be treated outside of XSP
(in Actions) and that session could be accessed via
session logicsheet but how to access the equivalent of
C1 servletContext? In the generated java code there
is a small remark that context is pointing to the
ServletContext, but it is not exactly the same as in
C1 (it is missing the log method).
Anybody have an idea ...

[C2] Pipeing non-XML thrue Cocoon

2001-08-10 Thread Drasko Kokic

Hi there,

I wonder if anybody had come accross this problem
before:
In the XSP generator I need to contact a back-end
system that (unfortunately) replies with PDF. I would
like to know what would be a way to still use Cocoon
(because I have all other pages implemented thrue
XML/XSL).
Is there a way to insert the received PDF directly
into some kind of cache and just reffere it somehow?!

I would be very thankfull for all/any responses
This is very much endangering my idea of using the
Cocoon technology in our portal business :-(

Please, do not suggest that the PDF should be replaced
with some XML structure ... I have spent around 3
months fighting with our Billing department and have
not win the battle (but the war is not yet over).

OT: Security Issues

2001-07-31 Thread Drasko Kokic

I appologise in advance for posting an email which is
not directly related to Cocoon.

The problem is as following:

I am trying to push Cocoon technology to many
different projects in our company (one of four mobile
internet providers in Germany), but am getting very
often lots of problems based on mistrust from the IT
security point of view.
Namely, I am trying to use Cocoon as a presentation
layer on our portals connecting to our backend
business systems. Naturally I would like to use XML
anywhere where it's applicable (the backend business
systems are running on Tomcat Servlet Engine).

Could anybody share their thoughts/experience about
the way how they have solved this hurdle?!

Also, what is sooo insecure about the XML? I am often
told that it is possible to tunnel almost anything
over it (eg. RPC-XML or SOAP). But, it is also
possible to do such a thing over HTML too!!!

Please send me your replies on my email address if you
don't want to abuse the bandwidth of this user mailing
list.

Best regards,
Drasko

and am getting the following error on both browsers(ns

What could be the problem? Has anybody got this

[C2.0b1] bug(?) in XSP

2001-07-20 Thread Drasko Kokic

Okay ... after a small (but very eficient) chat with
javaguru ... I have identified background information
about the way where the generated java file is being
created:

It seams that the informtion suplied in the src
atribute of the generate element is used to define
where (relative to .../org/apache/cocoon/www) the file
will be created.

There is a possibility in a multiple sub-sitemaps
environment to have same "relative paths" for diferent
XSP's in different sub-sitemaps. This means that
either the files will overwrite each other all the
time or (even worse) be mistaken!!!

Please, could somebody give some light on this
problem?!

TIA
Drasko

Hi Udo,

C2 can generate XML from the static XML file as well
as from the XSP file (via type="serverpages")

Are you saying that your stylesheet
(login-page2html.xsl) is being applied on the XSP file
(instead of the XML output of the generated java
code)?!?!

Could you please publish your files and the resulting
java files in both cases?

I am very puzzled by the XSP and sitemap part and
would really appreciate some comments from the

Thanks for your help

still produces & in the output HTML

On the other side your definition:

works, but produces only " " (as it should)

I need to generate in the output HTML the "non
breakable space"

It must have been done by somebody before :-)

Re: [C2] stylebook

2001-07-18 Thread Drasko Kokic

I am producing some of my technical documentation with
home-made stylesheets using C2.
Unfortunately, it is all still online based (user has
to click a page in order to generate it) ... I would
need to change it to offline batch mode.
Also, it would be better to use some "more standard"
stylesheet :-)
What are your requirements for this new project?

This solution is purely the Servlet Engine solution.
It has nothing to do with Cocoon.

[C2] User Authentication

2001-07-13 Thread Drasko Kokic

Berin,

have a look at the Servlet API 2.2 spec (at JavaSoft
site). I am using Tomcat implementation (based on the
RequestIntercepter framework).
It is not related to the Cocoon as it is protecting a
particular context/URI.
IMHO this is very clean way to separate this
functionality from the rest of the application logic.
The included examples implement simple File (or JDBC)
Realm (official name for such thing :-)

[C2] SOAP

2001-07-13 Thread Drasko Kokic

Berin,

Who is the "maintainer" of the SOAP addition to C2.1 ?
Is it possible to extract SOAP part out of the C2.1
and try to make it working on C2.0? I need to
implement it rather soon and could just about wait for
C2.0 to be released (C2.1 would probably be far too
late).

Re: AW: [C2] Redirects

2001-07-13 Thread Drasko Kokic

Uli,

have you thought about redesigning the SOAP taglib
(logicsheet?) so that it is portable to C2?
I would need to have it running fairly soon and am
ready to put in some eforts :-)
With regards to the auth taglib, I would still suggest
that you look into the RequestIntercepter
implementation of the "Context Based Security" spec.
It is 100% portable (between C1 and C2 of course :-)

[C2.0b1] question about XSP generated Java files

2001-07-06 Thread Drasko Kokic

I think I have found something very strange in the way
Java files are being generated from the XSP files.

I have situation like described in the attached email.
There is a main sitemap and a sub-sitemap for the
sub-URI LOOP.

In the LOOP sub-sitemap I have the following code:

I don't understand why is the Java file index_xsp.java
generated under the www directory and not under
www/LOOP directory???

Anybody care to explain how XSP and sitemap work
together.

TIA
Drasko

RE: [C2.0b1] Resource Not Found

2001-07-06 Thread Drasko Kokic

You are probably right about problems with JS and
browsers, but here is something else wrong.

Why am I having empty Java file in the work directory?
It looks like a fault in the XSP generator.
And, also, why is the file in question
(Checkin_xsp.java) not under LOOP/SingleLogin
subdirectory?
Just to remind you, I am calling the following URL:
http://localhost:8800/KontoCheck/LOOP/SingleLogin/CheckIn
and in the KontoCheck sitemap I am mounting the
sub-sitemap for the LOOP sub-URI.

How should this work?

TIA
Drasko

[C2.0b1] java.lang.ClassNotFoundException

2001-07-06 Thread Drasko Kokic

Hello everybody,

this is already the second time I am getting stucked
with this problem. Unfortunately the first time I
have "solved" the problem in untraceble way :-(

I am using submaps like following

context = KontoCheck
submap  = LOOP

this creates properly the sitemap_xmap.java in the
 blabla...KontoCheck/org/apache/cocoon/www
as well as in the subdirectory LOOP.
Both get compiled and things work fine.

BUT ...

after I have configured the LOOP submap to serve the
URI SingleLogin/CheckIn I am getting the
ClassNotFoundException.

Looking into the work directory I can see that under
the www directory there is SingleLogin subdirectory
containing the java file generated thrue XSP. ONLY
THERE IS NO CLASS FILE.

How is it possible to fix this problem? What is
causing this misbehaviour?

TIA
Drasko

[C2.0b1] Resource Not Found

2001-07-04 Thread Drasko Kokic

I am having this problem now already one week and have
no idea what is causing it:

The page in question is available at the following
URL:

http://kodra.loop.de/KontoCheck/LOOP

and produces strange "Resource Not Found" error
WITHOUT any trace in the log file (it all looks OK)
What is even stranger is that it happens only with
Netscape browser. IE is more or less okay with it.

For comparison look at the following URL:

http://kodra.loop.de/PEPSi/demo

(this is the C1.8.2 implementation of the same
prototype)

Does anybody have any idea what could be a problem?
How to find out which "resource is not found"?!

TIA

RE: Logicsheet chaining

2001-07-03 Thread Drasko Kokic

Not compleatly true ... it is possible to apply
multiple logicsheets ... just add them one after the
other in the XSP file. The different thing is with
the stylesheet chaining ... there you have to mess
around and introduce in the resulting XML stream the
XSLT processing instruction (together with the
reference to the next stylesheet).

So, it is possible in C1 too (just not elegant at
all).

But, I hope, it is still possible to move all the jar

I am still able to have C2.0a7 running on the MS Win
platform but on the Solaris 2.7 (JDK 1.3.0) there is
somthing very wrong.

Bugger @#%&§$%

Still the same error ... I am wondering if it is
possible to have it on SUN JDK 1.3.0 at all (giacomo
wrote earlier that JDK 1.2.2 is needed)

I need this to work ... how can I get into nitty
gritty details ... would you (anybody) have any C2
developers documentation to jump-start me?! I am
browsing thru the source code with my TogetherJ 5.0
and feel very lost :-(
