[Cooker] DraX

2001-02-16 Thread michael nazaroff

Has there been any work to solve the problem with mounting failing after you
partition your drives? I'm tried updating today and the install still failed
with the message:

Warning: Mount failed: No such device at /usr/bin/perl-install/fs.pm line

[Cooker] DrakX v1.422

2001-02-15 Thread michael nazaroff

I just tired to install cooker about 15 minutes ago and ran into a problem.
I managed to get to partition which worked fine except failed when trying to
mount the formated partitions.

Failed with No such device at /usr/bin/peril-install/fs.pm line 218

I'm trying to install from my second drive off a reiserfs partition onto my
first drive which is formated with ext2. I was going to install on / and
/home.

As you can guess from the subject this was DrakX v1.422

Thanx

Mine Sound Blaster works fine user cooker from 2 days ago. Though I had
change some permissions in the /dev directory to get the sound to work for

OK, got the latest greatest from the ftp.ciril.fr, which seems to be the
most
up-to-date today.. and can't find two libraries - libtreetype and
libkonsolepart. Seems libkonsolepart makes the console work - 'cause it
doesn't since i loaded the update.

Weird - Konqueror will NOT run of run from a shortcut - yet runs ok from
the
KDE "run" command in the start menu.

Some things are fixed - like the right side scroll bar for pages longer
than
the window, which was broken in the last version that worked, however
some
pages still don't render correctly - for example http://www.sfnb.com.
The
Netscape version loads graphics and other stuff, which Konqueror
doesn't.
I reported this to the KDE bug list, and they almost immediately closed
it
out - said works fine there (?)

Secure sockets has a problem (?) got a message "the process for the
https:vault.sfnb.com protocol died unexpectedly" - works ok from
Netscape.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Vincent Meyer

I downloaded from same site yesterday to update kde. I checked that page
you said konqueror would not loads but it works fine for me
(http://www.sfnb.com). Any problems with any links not working in kicker is
same problem I had here I just backed up all my bookmarks and other few
other things in ~/.kde directory and deleted it and loged back in everything
works fine after that seems as if some configuration files changed a
little?, so updates won't read the format correctly? I guess.

I been having a constant problem with konqueror crashing whenever I look at

2000-11-17 Thread michael nazaroff

I really enjoy the updates provided by the Unofficial KDE rpm's. The feel
speed wise seems to have stepped up for me, all around seems faster then
before. Seems to me couple added cosmetic bugs (terminal does not work in
transparent mode, screensavers are out, no support for netscape plugins =
won't access them) seemed to be balanced what seems to be more stable
konqueror(for me anyways) the icons all actually appear for me unlike
before, My girlfriend thinks the zooming icons are great, (she like large
easy to click on icons), In general like the look and feel is better then
before, I think they should be released as a official update. :o)

of a attack, just trying to bring up a problem so it might be addressed, and
even if kaiman is "trashy" it's still a problem in a easy to use

[Cooker] xmms 1.2.3mdk problems

2000-10-05 Thread michael nazaroff

One more piece of information for those that want to know is that if you run
(soundwrapper xmms) which is what kde (/usr/share/applnk) runs then you get

Segmentation fault

You've probably found a bug in XMMS, please visit http://www.xmms.org/bugs
and fill out a bug report.

But if you run just xmms from the command line then it starts fine with no

Re: [Cooker] beta3 bugs (fail to detect nic during install)

2000-09-25 Thread michael nazaroff

Thats good that someone else has the same problem with there nic card, hehe
thought I was doing something wrong or maybe just going crazy! But
everything was the same for my system. What going on with Kde Media Player
enqueue I clicked on a mp3 file and it tried starting but never does and
then suddenly everything under kde starts being really sluggish have to log
out and back in to make it so the mouse pointer runs without skipping.
Another thing I was playing around with was dragging and droping which has
some serious problems again under kde problems with lag? Is this Mandrake
specific or something for them kde developers are working on?

I can confirm this same problem. When I installed beta 3 on each of my 2
computers and selected cable modem, the installer gives the message:

"No ethernet network adapter is currently configured on your system.
Please
run the hardware configuration tool."

But as soon as I run linuxconf, it finds the device and sets up the
drivers. I
still had to do "ifup eth0" to kick dhcp after linuxconf finished the setup
and
exited.

The 2 nics I use are PCI NE2000 clone (rtl8129?) and a 3COM 3c900 (3c95x).

Also, another issue during the install. After the network install fails,
it
goes to the Time Zone setup. Once this is complete is returns to the
network
setup, fails again after repeating the inputs for the same nic, then again
goes
into the Time Zone setup. This repeats endlessly untill I choose 'Disable
network". Then it skips over the printer setup!

Cheers,
Rob
